You forgot about zhu for norcal.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure a lot of states/regions could compete, and do decently well, in a 5v5 crew battle, but if you expand it to 10 (or even 15), it becomes really clear that both Norcal and Socal have higher abundance of good players compared to other regions. Which of the two is better is anyone's guess though.

But in all seriousness: I really want to do Norcal vs Socal.
I love TAI but he just got 17th at our Regional. SFAT just beat fly so I'm sure he'd be fine against Wobbles. I'll play Axe so no one gets Pikachu'd. Vman is pretty good but not better than Pewpewu/Zhu, and I HIGHLY doubt Taj/Forward would wreck any of Norcal's finest.

Forward would be all over the place depending on how he feels that day, Taj will need to not fight a Fox, Tai will need to randomly play well, Axe will most likely do good, and I've never taken less than 4 stocks in Melee crews in my life ever, wobbling banned or not. Replace Forward with Silly Kyle and our skill ceiling would be lower but the consistency higher (because let's face it sometimes spacies get **** on in crews, random stuff doesn't ruin a match for Peach nearly as often).

Our performance as a 5 man crew would be hella random. But on a really good day we would give any region a run for their money.

Unknown: wobbling has nothing to do with it. It's a powerful tool in the crews pressure environment but by making that statement you're also saying my crew would need me to take 8 stocks off random gimpy grabs in order to have a chance. Which is wrong.

Shroomed: I would not be that dismissive of us.

Even if it was 5v5 it wouldn't be a blowout. After all, Alan beat Oscar in tournament and Alan isn't Top 10. PewPewU spanked Oscar. DarkAtma is decent kryptonite for Wes, who is still clueless v Peaches. S2J got 2-0ed by Bob$. Dajuan can get within one stock of Mango. Zhu beat Fly the last time they played.

Where SoCal really starts to get exposed is if Eddie or Lucky can't show up. Alex, MacD, Hyprid and Connor are long-shots to show up to any major. SoCal is where NorCal was last year: A lot of their talent is unavailable and the rest are unmotivated.

First of all, is everyone I listened part of Eastern Canada? Second of all, are they all good bets to make a national? Assume yes and yes. Then I would take them over any other Top 10.

What if you throw in Europe? Some people may say that's unfair since there are so many countries, but I don't buy that. They have to fly all the way over here. If you throw in Europe's Top 10, they also have to be considered strong favorites.

Florida gets exposed if we go to Top 10. So does Arizona. Tri-State would do well, however.

So Top 10 rankings:

1. Europe
2. NorCal
3. Eastern Canada
4. SoCal
5. Tri-State

You could make a strong case for any of these regions being No. 1. It'd be a sick crew battle.

But limiting it to such small areas starts to make less and less sense. Just go East, West, North (Canada), South, International (Europe).

EDIT:

If you go 5v5, Arizona and Florida get a lot more powerful. Simple to argue they're > than SoCal, NorCal. All depends on Taj showing up, though. Without Taj they're pretty meh.

If we could ever get an accurate listing of Tri-State, they could be favorites in a 5v5.

I think Ontario and Quebec should be considered separate regions. From what I gathered talking to locals at Impulse, these two main EC Canada scenes are hours apart. It'd be like lumping NE and Tristate into one region.
