Hmm.. I had scarlet fever when I was 2. I was in the hospitalized for 2 and a half weeks.
I also was diagnosed with Lyme Disease at age 10 and it moved into second stage before I caught it. There are three stages: first is flu like, second is arthritic (in my case, I was temporarily paralyzed) and third is death). If you don't know how you get Lymes, well it's caught by deer ticks. So be careful. It's a very real thing. The Lymes is treated with antibiotics, but will be in your blood forever. Therefore, it can come back and cause joint problems whenever it wants to.
And... I was diagnosed at age 15 with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. (aka Eosinophilic Granuloma) Basically, to make it easy on you guys it's cancer just a different type of cell. I have wayyy too many white blood cells in my body that attack my healthy organs and tissue randomly. My body creates holes in my bones and tumors spontaneously when I'm under stress or just whenever. It can happen anytime, any where. This disease is extremely rare. It's what we call an "orphan" disease. Not enough people have it so the government doesn't fund research. It's not genetic, transmittable and there's no cure. Pretty much just ****ty luck of the draw. In children it often runs a fatal course. 1 in 200,000 children are diagnosed every year with it. 1 in 560,000 adults are diagnosed every year. I've been sick almost all my life from this disease, and been in pain since I can remember. I've had a tumor in my head, hip, ovary, and stomach so far and 7 surgeries. I'm going on my 3rd round of radiation therapy this July for 3 weeks, and I've been on steroids in the past. To make things even worse, my doctors have never seen a case like mine. It usually stays within bone/tissue, but mine jumped the barrier. My case went so long without treatment that it actually took over the muscle in my hip. I had a tumor half the size of a football in my right hip. I went 6 years without being diagnosed. :| I was on medical home bound pretty much all throughout high school. I think I went maybe one month out of the 4 years. :/
Anyway, because of this disease I've been in and out of hospitals all of my life. I have a compromised immune system which means I get sick real easily. The nurses and doctors all know me by name and are pretty much like a second family to me! That's how much I see them, ha.
