Alright, so Nintendo seems to have finally gotten the message that no one but soccer moms seem to care about them anymore so at this year's E3 they announced several new Mario games, a new Metroid, a new Golden Sun and dropped a hint about a new Zelda. Good start, Nintendo, but here are some other things I think you could do to try and earn your fan base back.
Localize the Famicom Detective Club series
I've never played these games, so I don't know if they're any good. But what I do know, is that they were two games about a young woman solving mysteries often dealing with supernatural forces. Am I the only one who thinks this sounds cool? Honestly, if done right, this could be a great. I really enjoy a good adventure game, and a remake (or even a sequel) for the DS would probably get people interested. Especially if they got the guys who did the incredible game Hotel Dusk on the job, then I can tell you that I'd be a good game for sure.
Make another Kid Icarus game already!
I'm not sure how a 3D Kid Icarus would play, but if they could get it down, it could potentially be really cool. Although I'm not exactly sure if the Wii is the best platform for a game like Kid Icarus, a DS sequel would probably be better. But either way, Pit's appearance in Brawl is more than enough to give Nintendo a reason to reboot the franchise. So why don't they? It's a win-win situation, the fans are happy and Nintendo has yet another franchise to milk.
Localize Mother 3
Yes, I know that there's a fan translation (which I've played, and it's awesome) but some honest to God acknowledgment of Mother's Western fanbase would be nice. I don't care if you bring it to the US as Mother 3 or Earthbound 2, just do it! And while we're on the topic of the Mother series...
Mother remake, please
The first Mother was an NES game that the rest of the world never got, and just like Pit, having Lucas in Brawl is a huge window of opportunity to revive the Earthbound franchise in the west. Let's face it, if Nintendo were to have a Mother remake for the DS (granted they have the right marketing strategy) sales could go through the roof for not only a Mother remake, but for the already best-selling DS or even the DSi.
i kan haz new F-Zero?
F-Zero, while well known, is a somewhat neglected franchise by Nintendo standards. F-Zero was cool, F-Zero X was great, and F-Zero GX was **** great, and I can see a Wii F-Zero title working out really well. Players could hold to Wiimote on it's side (Exite Truck style) and tilt it to steer, and when "YOU HAVE BOOST POWER!" you could just hit the two button to activate it! So, Nintendo, why haven't you made this could-be-awesome game yet?
The Wii... this system needs more Star Fox
Star Fox is a pretty popular franchise, but for something this popular there sure as hell haven't been very many games for it. Not counting spin-offs (Adventures and Command), there's three. Count 'em, three, Star Fox games... and why hasn't Nintendo announced plans for a Wii Star Fox? There was already a micro game in Wario Ware: Smooth Moves on the Wii where you use to Wiimote to steer an Arwing, and with some tweaking, this could lead to a really great Star Fox game. But why haven't you even considered this, Nintendo? Too busy ****ing to the casual gaming market?
More full-fledged Pokemon RPGs like Pokemon Coliseum
I'm braced for any and all flaming I'm about to receive, but Pokemon Coliseum was the best Pokemon game, right next to Gold and Silver. Why do I say this? Because it wasn't some lame RPG battle game like Pokemon Stadium, nor was it just a rehash of the previous games like all of the main series Pokemon games, it was it's own thing. And (FOR POKEMON), was pretty dark too. One thing I liked was how it's storyline wasn't just "Stop team such and such and become the best trainer in the world," but rather, "Save the world from an evil organization trying to turn pokemon into mindless war machines." It was a nice break from your typical light-hearted Pokemon adventure but also manged to have the charm and spirit that Pokemon is known for. One disappointing sequel later, and then... just another Pokemon Stadium-like game. Nintendo, I loved Pokemon Coliseum, can you try and put out another great game like that?
Well, that's all I can think of. If Nintendo were to do just that, they might earn me back as a full-time fan, not sure about anyone else, though. So, what would you like to see Nintendo do?
