Alright, so Nintendo seems to have finally gotten the message that no one but soccer moms seem to care about them anymore so at this year's E3 they announced several new Mario games, a new Metroid, a new Golden Sun and dropped a hint about a new Zelda. Good start, Nintendo, but here are some other things I think you could do to try and earn your fan base back.

Localize the Famicom Detective Club series

I've never played these games, so I don't know if they're any good. But what I do know, is that they were two games about a young woman solving mysteries often dealing with supernatural forces. Am I the only one who thinks this sounds cool? Honestly, if done right, this could be a great. I really enjoy a good adventure game, and a remake (or even a sequel) for the DS would probably get people interested. Especially if they got the guys who did the incredible game Hotel Dusk on the job, then I can tell you that I'd be a good game for sure.

Make another Kid Icarus game already!

I'm not sure how a 3D Kid Icarus would play, but if they could get it down, it could potentially be really cool. Although I'm not exactly sure if the Wii is the best platform for a game like Kid Icarus, a DS sequel would probably be better. But either way, Pit's appearance in Brawl is more than enough to give Nintendo a reason to reboot the franchise. So why don't they? It's a win-win situation, the fans are happy and Nintendo has yet another franchise to milk.

Localize Mother 3

Yes, I know that there's a fan translation (which I've played, and it's awesome) but some honest to God acknowledgment of Mother's Western fanbase would be nice. I don't care if you bring it to the US as Mother 3 or Earthbound 2, just do it! And while we're on the topic of the Mother series...

Mother remake, please

The first Mother was an NES game that the rest of the world never got, and just like Pit, having Lucas in Brawl is a huge window of opportunity to revive the Earthbound franchise in the west. Let's face it, if Nintendo were to have a Mother remake for the DS (granted they have the right marketing strategy) sales could go through the roof for not only a Mother remake, but for the already best-selling DS or even the DSi.

i kan haz new F-Zero?

F-Zero, while well known, is a somewhat neglected franchise by Nintendo standards. F-Zero was cool, F-Zero X was great, and F-Zero GX was **** great, and I can see a Wii F-Zero title working out really well. Players could hold to Wiimote on it's side (Exite Truck style) and tilt it to steer, and when "YOU HAVE BOOST POWER!" you could just hit the two button to activate it! So, Nintendo, why haven't you made this could-be-awesome game yet?

The Wii... this system needs more Star Fox

Star Fox is a pretty popular franchise, but for something this popular there sure as hell haven't been very many games for it. Not counting spin-offs (Adventures and Command), there's three. Count 'em, three, Star Fox games... and why hasn't Nintendo announced plans for a Wii Star Fox? There was already a micro game in Wario Ware: Smooth Moves on the Wii where you use to Wiimote to steer an Arwing, and with some tweaking, this could lead to a really great Star Fox game. But why haven't you even considered this, Nintendo? Too busy ****ing to the casual gaming market?

More full-fledged Pokemon RPGs like Pokemon Coliseum

I'm braced for any and all flaming I'm about to receive, but Pokemon Coliseum was the best Pokemon game, right next to Gold and Silver. Why do I say this? Because it wasn't some lame RPG battle game like Pokemon Stadium, nor was it just a rehash of the previous games like all of the main series Pokemon games, it was it's own thing. And (FOR POKEMON), was pretty dark too. One thing I liked was how it's storyline wasn't just "Stop team such and such and become the best trainer in the world," but rather, "Save the world from an evil organization trying to turn pokemon into mindless war machines." It was a nice break from your typical light-hearted Pokemon adventure but also manged to have the charm and spirit that Pokemon is known for. One disappointing sequel later, and then... just another Pokemon Stadium-like game. Nintendo, I loved Pokemon Coliseum, can you try and put out another great game like that?

Well, that's all I can think of. If Nintendo were to do just that, they might earn me back as a full-time fan, not sure about anyone else, though. So, what would you like to see Nintendo do?

One more thing: UPGRADE YOUR SYSTEM ALREADY -- Make room for more third party games. You're forcing us to buy an xbox/ps3 in order to get other good games that your system won't hold. >.>

Oh please

Even if Nintendo did all those things, all those games will STILL BOMB becuase the 'core' fans only like Mario and Zelda.

It happened in the last 2 generations, what makes you think it won't happen in the 7th generation?

Uh...well, it certainly isn't the casual gamers that know F-Zero and Star Fox well...so you explain to me why it is there's a demand for this stuff if the core gamers don't care about it?

No one said anything about the Panel De Pon/Puzzle League series need to come back? Nintendo's best puzzle game and no sequel after Planet Puzzle League for the US, they have Dr. Mario alive still, so why not Panel De Pon/Puzzle League games? =/

I don't get it, I AM NOT a hardcore Zelda gamer but I still like getting some here and there.
Like, I HATED Twilight Princess but I loved OoT, Majora's Mask, the first one and Phantom Hourglass.
And I didn't like the mario games since like 2000-2006-ish but I love Super Mario Galaxy, and I can't wait for the next.

The thing is nintendo had a completely translated version of mother, and in their nintendo power polls on which games should go to virtual console, it was voted #1. I think they are ether holding it back for a combo pack, or they are just being *****, which wouldn't surprise me. I think kid icarus is in the making, I believe I heard a while back Miyamoto hinted at it this year as well as a new pikmin last year. So the problem is they are not putting it out. A group of fans have been making a new starfox game and it looks amazing, I think nintendo should get those people on a team to ramp it up to a level capable of a full-fledged wii title, or even a wiiware release. The only one of the games that you mentioned that hasn't seen any development what so ever is f-zero, which would be a good investment right now when the casual market is so big, I mean look how mario kart sold, and is still selling. It proves that racers are popular now, they have amazing wifi on mario kart so f-zero can even be better. I think if they marketed a new F-Zero right, it would sell huge, and could even be a competitive racer if made right.

My 2 cents.

I couldn't agree more. XD, Gale of Darkness and Colosseum were refreshing changes of pace for me. I enjoyed them taking a step to do something different, instead of the exact same plot the handheld games followed.

It also brought out some funny characters, most notably Miror B.

I loved em' both.

Miror B was cool. Although I must admit that I found Gale of Darkness to be disappointing, maybe the big N will make a third title set in the same region as those two.

Probably not, but it's worth thinking about.

Come to think about it, the VC should get more Japan-only classics for release in general, and maybe handheld games as well.

That's not a bad idea. It would be a good way to get all of the old Fire Emblem titles over to western shores without having to do remakes.

That would probably kill me. GX was a slaughterfest enough. I can't imagine playing something like that with tilt motion sensor.

But yes, I'd still buy it because I'm in love with the pain.

Whose music is incredibly sexy in both games.

(Seriously, every time I accidentally killed a Shadow Pokemon in XD I was semi-happy because it meant hearing that music. =P)

I would love more games along those lines. I love Colosseum and XD.

Earthbound... Copyright issues + lack of interest when game was originally released = low motive for production. The game flopped miserably when it arrived, why would nintendo believe that it would work out a second time. Plus if they upgraded the graphics it seems (at least to me and possibly people who have played the original game) it would lose some of it's charm, and it would require a hell of a lot of work, and if they left the graphics the same it wouldn't be as attractive to newer gamers. The best you can hope for for now is a VC release, and even that's extremely unlikely.

Localize the Famicom Detective Club series
Hell, not just this. Localize ALL of your text-based classics, like Shin Onigashima, Time Twist, Yuyuki, and Famicom Bunko.

And hell, not just that either, localize more Japan-only famicom classics dammit! Hell, I could probably fill this entire post ranting about how nintendo refuses to localize lost Famicom games, so I'll save that for my own blog post.
Make another Kid Icarus game already!
Sure, just don't make it look that that hideous factor 5 concept art.

Localize Mother 3
At this point, I'm pretty much sure nintendo is ******* around with mother fans just for teh lulz.

Mother remake, please
Sure, but at least decrease the unholy random encounter rate from hell.

i kan haz new F-Zero?
This, very much. Also, give it Forza Motorsport-level customizability.(But that probably won't happen....at least give it a stage builder or something.)

Also, motion-controlled F-zero wouldn't work. F-zero is like punch out in that regard, motion sounds good, but the game simply requires way to much precision for tilting.

The Wii... this system needs more Star Fox
and, please to god, don't let namco develop it again.

More full-fledged Pokemon RPGs like Pokemon Coliseum
I <3 Pokemon coliseum, they should do an anime adaptation about THAT dammit.

So, what would you like to see Nintendo do?
Aside from the aforementioned Famicom localizations, I would also like to see:

A sequel to Battle Clash

C'mon, it would work PERFECTLY with the wii remote. And it's pretty much Punch-Out with guns, so get the same canucks who did that to develop this.

Create some new IPs dammit

Yes, I know making new video game superstars is increasingly hard these days, but at least try. I'm getting tired of sequel after sequel, and what new IPs you do come up with rarely come over here, speaking of that...

RELEASE MORE GAMES IN AMERICA DAMMIT

somewhat related to the famicom and mother 3 ordeal, where the hell is my Captain Rainbow and Disaster: DoC godammit? Okay, they're getting better with this with the release of The Legendary Starfy(Which is totally awesome, buy it or you're a terrorist.), but we need MOAR.

Make an MMO

and no, not exactly a Zelda MMO, but something similar. Give it the combat system and puzzles of Zelda, but make the world kinda varied, somewhat of a mishmash of other nintendo games without using the exact licenses. and of course, give it a huge element of sheer exploration, complete with the same wonder and scenery porn of traditional nintendo games.

Kirby Air Ride 2.

Get it done son.
THIS. THIS. a million times this. Kirby Air ride was awesome for a racing game. It also happened to be Sakurai's final kirby game before quitting his franchise. I think it should be revived with sakurai as head again. the kirby series kinda went stale.

Air Ride was too ridiculously good to not have a sequel.

THE GAME ONLY HAD ONE BUTTON AND WAS STILL AMAZING.

It had only one button. but it sure had a **** load of air rides, a huge city, Dyna blade, and being able to play MK and D3. not to mention all the goals and the two legendary vehicles and arguably the most cruel, difficult, and gay final boss in the history of kirby.. THATS why it was awesome.

Nintendo was stupid not to make a sequel for its greatest racing game next to the F-zero series.

I actually think Sakurai went overboard with his final kirby game. I studied the boss before and he has almost 2x his usual stats. (and extra juice on the lower ones.) so I like screw this im bringing out the dragoon or hydra. but i still lose. ****. still, it was reaaally fun.
