Mainly because Northwestern University is really close to me and they're the Wildcats.

YES!!! Another Don!!! Now, I didn't go to the same high school as you, as your mascot is slightly different, but, hey, its another person who actually knows what a Don is. There are no high school mascots that even compare to a Don. Ours was loosely based off of Zorro, and we had someone in a Zorro costume come thundering onto the field atop a black horse for our homecoming game. It was really cool.
