I thought its koreans who are born with a copy of starcraft in their hands_ The majority of them and singaporeans i have met are usually pretty clued on, but they are pretty technology orientated i thought_ No offence Vlade, Japanese are pretty cool and have an awsome culture_ Nice avatar_ Trigun is win_

Bob you use shiek now? :o I thought you used peach/olimar/marth :)

Also guys I'm having trouble improving with my Dedede :( , whether against friends or CPU's. :( I just don't seem to be getting any better. Do you guys have any tips?/have any of you guys reached a wall with your skill increasing and how did you continue to get better??

Thanks so much to anyone who answers!!!! :)

I had that problem Jupz it started during the tourney and after it aswell. I learnt it was all spacing so just space and play smart.

Float like a butterfly and sting like a beed, thats all you gotta do.

If bomb stopped playing olimar then. :D

I got better when I managed to see 'mindgames' when I was playing. I could read what the opponent was doing and think of those situations and how I should deal with them, etc. I don't know how that happened, but it somehow did.

Saw your post and reminded me of a thread i read_ http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=162447

Research should be your first step_ If you've already done the research and put in the practise then you're left with real life practise and competitions_ I found tournaments the best way to learn and improve, be it playing or observing_ Everybody has their own playstyle and strategies and by versing them, you will develop your own for each matchup and individuals playstyle_

Wasn't this after I said,

"HEY VLADE, LOOK AT THAT? SEE WHAT HE DID? HE'S GONNA DO IT AGAIN, AND AGAIN, AND YOU SHOULD OWN HIM FOR IT".

You know the whole "don't always go for the dair from a down throw, as predictability is the key to losing".

SIF YOU DIDN'T REMEMBER MY WISE WORDS.

That's what I meant :p

It was Shaya that allowed me to delve into 'mindgames' and analyse certain situations that I come across whenever I play.

Thanks Shaya ;)

Wow thanks guys for all responding!!!! I really appreciate the in depth anwsers!!! I will try to use mindgames to get better. I didn't really see that before but I mean you don't have to have much technical skill to use Dededee so I will try to get better at mindgames :) I know some character specific mindgames but I have yet to put them into practice. I'm seconding several other characters that have more in-depth mindgames then Dedede (MK, Diddy, Falco, Snake) to improve my DDD :) But I must remember to just think more when playing with my dedede and not just chaingrab -> gimp on autopilot :p

Thanks so much everyone!!!

You don't necessarily get 'better' at mind-games, but rather it's something you just pick up.

It's an extremely complex thing. But one way to learn about mindgames is to 'test' your opponent.

I'll use falco as an example.

Against my opponents, I always single jab to see their reaction. If they shield, then I'll grab until they get around it. If they spotdodge, I'll wait for the spotdodge then grab/usmash for kill, or just jab combo. Do what works, and keep doing it if it continues to work. Stop doing what doesn't work, but then do it if it starts to work.

It's hard to explain >_> Hope it made any sense.

MK has mindgames. Although I fail at using them :(

Thanks for the added advice Vlade! And yeah I get what ur talking about :p

I do that with DDD. Like I'll CG them to the end of the stage then sometimes I puposefully stuff up and pretend it wasnt on purpose to see if they spot dodge. If they do I CG to the end of the stage and do a pivot grab so I can CG them back again. Is that kinda an example with DDD?

Thanks :)

Metaknight doesn't need mindgames. I don't even use metaknight hardly i only use him once everytime i play online and i seem to do good with him without even thinking of tricks to pull off.

Also Vlade when you run to someone and they spot dodge you stop and pause then up smash them after the spotdodge then you send them to their death lol. Thats my favourite mind game from you.

This tourney i will try and do mind games and not do stupid things and i will never dair with toon link from such a high fall lol.

Hehe thanks. Basically that works on the same principal I posted about earlier. 'Test' your opponent's reaction by running up to them - I knew they would spotdodge so I'd just wait for it and usmash :)

He was playing bad that day is what i herd yet he still seems to win lol. I've improved my toon link against zelda and marth more. Marth has become predictable to me now i know what is always going to come next even when they decide to play diffrently.
