Personally I really hope the next Animal Crossing title has some Smash-related items you can decorate your house with in reference to your player character's Smash Crusades. Maybe some flavor text NPCs spout when they notice them. Maybe Isabelle says something about being an assist trophy, there's so many possibilities. But that's not really related to this.

BotanicSage is my favorite vidya mashup artist on that note .... also not related.

As for something that IS related, I wonder how long it's gonna take to catalog all the things the Villager can pocket. It's probably got to be most near everything.

Just played the demo (and Smash 4 in general for the first time), and I was surprised how much I liked Villager! The only thing I really don't like is his fair/bair. The projectile/range is pretty cool, but it just seems like the moves could be somewhat different.

Link's Hylian Shield can block Villager's F-Smash, F-Air/B-Air, dash attack, Side-B, and the tree from Down-B.

It's too early to tell since I've only been playing CPU players, but this might make the match up against Link very difficult. It seems difficult enough because of Link's range and faster projectiles, but if Link can block Villager's kill moves (F-Smash and Down-B) with just the Hylian Shield and punish back with his own attack, then how should Villager approach Link?

I did down tilt -> uptilt -> fair/nair a bunch of times. Triple turnips can spike. Oh, and Lloid Rocket is like the best move ever.

I have a feeling Villager will be extremely viable once we really get him figured out.

I'm puttin da lab time in on this demo no worries

I'm gonna be the best villager ever so get to know me :D
I've determined that his pocket can only hold an item for 30 seconds, then it goes away.
It also goes away when you die. I don't THINK damage taken has an affect on the pocket, but hard to test that vs CPUs on the demo.

The tree, once watered, grows up, and it growing has a hitbox that like actually kills. I haven't gotten percent data on it cuz the CPU needs to be conveniently above where it grows, which is tough. But I did kill a link with it at like 140% which is high but still

I think some testing may need to be done to see if the tree can grow ANYWHERE or just certain platforms. I managed to plant a sapling on a Rolling Crate, but when I tried to water it, the crate took off.

Im also in the lab right now. You can refresh the time by taking it out and pocket it again (You can test it with the woodchip for example). I also cut the tree down 100 times. I know it isnt really realible to use these numbers as the final %s but I listed the drops and how many times I got them:

Woodchips: 55
Nothing: 43
Fruit (I got a pair both times): 2

I know that the tree can drop a Maxim Tomato but I didnt got it 1 time. It seems to have a reallyyy low chance.

You cann also have multiple Woodchips on the field.

If Mario capes you while you're riding Lloid Rocket, then when the rocket explodes, you'll end up being exploded too.

I've played with Villager quite a few times in the demo, and he has an impressive moveset, and he is definitely gonna be one of my new mains when the full game comes out

You can water other villagers trees, I saw denti do it in the JP demo. They also tried cutting down both trees at the same time, which cause the game to lag a TON

This a is a good strat to use in dubs lol

Do the fruit heal you or are they items?

Damn, already?
In the American demo, so I assume the japanese demo and full version as well.
Watering can grow enemy sprouts but It takes a bit longer, and enemy trees can be cut down no problem.
Watering can on players dosent push them like it used to.

Could've sworn I saw the watering can move NPCs when I was using it. I can definitely confim ir pushes things at least; if you plant a tree on a rolling crate, the crate takes off before it grows.

I can also comfirm the Villager's Dair DOES spike, though the hitbox is hard to land. Both times I managed to so so, i was moving upwards, kind of right after my double jump.

So... any discussion about Villager's abhorrent, disgraceful, completely and utterly character destroyingly slow grab animation?

Probably the worst move in Smash history.

Setting saplings next to each other is weird in the US demo. Sometimes only one tree will grow, either yours or the enemy's, sometimes they'll both grow but sometimes one will vanish immediately, sometimes you'll be able to chop the enemy's tree down but not walk through it or damage them with it...needs a patch, in my opinion.
