I'm in Year 11. All I need to do is grab a grammar book and in a few days I'll be good to go. I'm going to talk with my English teacher next term and tell her I can't adapt. With me being the smartest in class (which doesn't make me smart, rather I'm in a class full of *******) I can convince her to change her teaching style. She's open-minded thank God.

Well, there is still time since Year 11 marks mean absolutely nothing, raising your grammar standards shouldn't be too hard from now to year 12.. But like I said before, you don't need superb grammar to do well in english imo.
I suppose all you can do is just to keep trying >.<

Wow are you serious. Then what DO universities look at when you apply for them? It was different in the states (where I was raised). I think (in the states), they look at your SAT (the university/college test) score, your GPA in the whole of high school (9-12), and some essay thing you have to write for them.

Edit: I don't need super grammar to do well. I need decent grammar to do excellent in class.
Come on what kind of teacher gives tests without actually teaching the stuff first?

I wrote things based on the assumption you were doing the VCE, is that true?
Cause each of the systems for the states here varies quite a bit although there are conversions

Just checking...you could be doing IB instead of VCE
-Anyway for the Universities here, they look at your ENTER score as far as I know(and interview/UMAT for medical related courses)
-Some courses require you to get a score in some subjects (e.g > 30 in english, or at least 35 in methods) which are known as prerequisites
I can explain how the ENTER is calculated if you want but anyway,
If you are in Yr 11, you are probably doing all unit 1/2 subjects with possibly one or two 3/4s.
As long as you don't screw up your 3/4 subjects, all your other marks this year won't count.
E.g. I got a D+ in year 11 General maths, but still got 36 for spec - the unti 3/4 subjects are used only for the calculation of the ENTER. You just have to pass all the unit 1/2 subjects, so you should be fine

Also, I suppose I was serious about VCE lol..I still have all my ENTER calculators....with my desired scores and all hahah

I'm taking one Units 3/4 subjects which is Business Management and I got a 92%. We have 1 test per week. laaame. Specialists is such a pointless subject IMO. THAT is the kind of maths you will never use in your life. Who cares about Matrix. I can do that in real life. Instead, for year 11, I'm taking General Maths A (Further) and I got a 100%. I never even opened the book. THAT's how easy it is.

Stupid slow internet. And I have adsl2. Can you believe it?

Ah then all you have to do from an academic standpoint is ace your business management(I heard it is a lot like methods) and you should be fine for this year.
Anyway, be careful because you have to check if those tests are SACs or just random tests, and take high marks with a grain of salt. Getting 92% or even 100% in any random test, or even a SAC can't tell you much about your study score at the end of the day.

Also, specialist is awesome. Even though I found it crazy hard, and it was the subject that made me want to kill myself - it is really satisfying, and the + 11 scaling it gave me was a nice bonus =D

And I blame the weather and the crazy winds today on the slow internet >.<

Ah yes there is also that scaling system. Who invented that? I don't like the idea of subjects being scaled down or up. Most of mine get scaled down. The ones that are getting scaled up are the subjects I'm really good at already.

VTAC uses the scaling system in an attempt to make things even for all the students doing different subjects. Although the victorian government also screws with the scaling system to promote people taking LOTE.

If a lot of your subjects scale down, if you do really well in them they they won't get scaled down or so I've heard. I think you have to get >40 for it to happen, but I'm not too sure at all.

I agree that scaling is a bit screwed up, but if it wasn't there. I doubt hardly anyone would choose things like specialist or literature

I have both the specialists and methods textbooks and a lot of the topics are very similar. There is no need in taking the same thing twice. Besides I heard Year 11 Methods is harder than Year 11 General Maths B (Specialists).

IMO methods in yr 11 is much easier than general maths in yr 11.
And when I did VCE in 2006, they were quite different (unfortunetely) - methods doesn't cover kinematics, complex numbers, vectors and it only brushes on differentiation.

Also, if they are similar thats fantastic, you can cover both subjects with less study ;)

Thanks for all the advice. I'm not familiar with the Aussie system and when I ask my friends in class about it.........they don't know anything as well. They don't take school seriously but because they actually see someone (me) studying, that has encouraged them to begin studying as well. I feel so proud of myself.
*pats himself on the back*

I used up 19.2/20 gb of my internet limit. What happens when you go overboard? My friend said that it is reduced to dial-up speed but it also depends on the company and service.

Company: Aunix
Service: ADSL2

Sorry we (IceK, Devil and myself) couldn't be there. Devil had work in the morning and had to drive home (he lives in like Wollan (about an hours drive)) at 9ish. If we had gone to the city when I finished and showered and such we probably could have stayed a little but procrastination left us with no time.

I dont work weekends...that was you.
I live in whittlesea its a 45min drive.

How dare you sulley my good name

I just watched South Park Imaginationland.

Al Gore: "ManBearPig must die!" *presses button to nuke imaginationland*

Al Gore truly IS Super Cereal.

Edit: Yes I know it's not Smash related but you never know, ManBearPig or Al Gore might just make it to the next Smash Bros.

Just as a precautionary measure:

As Smashboards is becoming increasingly unreliable, you are going to find that is the site is down. In case you need some RANBAT information, use the Couch Warriors Boards instead. I visit that site very regularly as it has always been the most current and up-to-date source of CW related events.

April Ranbat - http://www.couchwarriors.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1950&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

The April RANBAT will feature CREW BATTLES!

Do you remember in high school where there were 2 football captains that had to alternate picking players from the field to make up their team? That's how we're going to do it. This will happen after teams and singles (provided there is ample time) and will involve everyone that hangs around long enough to want to participate.

Crews: 7pm-9pm

Rules: 3 stock per player - both teams must have an equal amount of cumulative stock across the team (e.g. 24 stock vs. 24 stock)
Stage selection is randomised to the basic stages set in the RAMBO ruleset; each player is entitled to 1 stage strike out per match.
No time limit.
No items.
The winner of each match carries over remaining stock into the next battle.
Team captains must write out every player's character and the starting person (Starter).
The team captain decides the lineup of players from their player selection strategically. This includes starter position, anchor position and all counter-players and pawns (e.g. Sam).

So i need 2 captains please. Any takers?

About Power Rankings. How do you know the win-ratio? How do I (5th place) have a higher win-ratio than 3rd and 4th places. And why does it still write marth/sheik?! I never used Marth. Also will crews affect rankings?
