Viable chaingrab/techchase?

Ive been playing around with this, and it seems too obvious not to be known already, but I never see anyone use it.

MK's downthrow will, depending on the character, pop them up into the air or knock them forward slightly. Some will hit the ground.

Depending on where they go, they can jump/tech out of this, but you can dash forward and regrab them, downthrow again ect. It's like D3's chaingrab, but not as reliable and more slidey.

I'm pretty sure this will be a viable chaingrab at some percent on some character. Because MK slides so far when he dashgrabs an opponent, you only need three or four of these to set up an offstage gimp (Bowser on FD?)

Well, it would certainly make MK a bit more broken if it were true. I don't think it's very viable however. It's too...flaky.

M2K combo will push them to the edge of the stage and set them up for a gimp, and if you land the first hit it's guaranteed.

Fix'd

Also, I'm pretty sure there's no character MK can do this to.

Oh well. I guess MK isn't broken then, heh.

It works on level 9's though.

If I made a topic with the title "Meta Knight CANNOT Chain grab with D-throw", you think mods would sticky it?

I hope so. This is getting annoying.

MK's down throw follow ups are not legit. If they DI into you, you don't even have enough time to do Uairs to them, because they can air dodge. If they DI away, they have A LOT of time to recover before you can do anything to them. It only works on bad people or if you get lucky. Down throw is only truely useful at the edge since they have to go off or you can charge F smash (otherwise they double jump and are above you, which is the best thing they can do, but that still gives you a small advantage in position).

It seems as if d-throw usually puts MK in a good position because the opponent has to worry about escaping and MK just has to follow accordingly. If they DI towards you or away and airdodge, then just pivot grab them.

Lol. What make's your lvl 9's so special? =P
All our CPU opponents can learn... if you play against the CPU a lot with MK and DI a lot your CPU should start doing it, too, at least enough to avoid this faux "chaingrab."

Honestly, I find u-throw is the most underused. Sometimes it leaves people in a good position to combo, and does 1% more.

No, but you can read the air dodge and do a neutral air to catch them with the second hit when they land during their dodge. Shuttle Loop is also unavoidable if they DI into you, but doesn't really do much for you except deal a bit of damage.

I mostly agree with the rest of what you said though.
