What do we do?
We welcome all Smashers at UT so that we can help each other improve, have smashfests, and build the Smash scene at UT. We'll have plenty of meetings to build our skills, work on doubles, and just improve.

How do you join?
Just attend a meeting! You can also join the Melee Facebook Group or Brawl Facebook Group.

What other information is there about the club?
We host events on campus every other week. We can always use more setups! If you have a TV/Wii/Gamecube/and a copy of Melee or Brawl, it would be great if you could bring those. If you have a setup, let us know so we can help you transport it to the meeting!

Contact us through our email at texas.smash.club@gmail.com

it's definitely cool, the only requirement is that you go to UT
good luck with getting into UT, hope it goes well

*Important Message from the President of Smash*

Austin smashers:
Come to our first meeting or sakurai will make you randomly trip everyday for the rest of your life. And bring setups (especially TVs) or we CANNOT guarantee we will have enough setups for everybody to play, which is always a drag. Call (or text) me at 281-755-6203 and I will gladly arrange to transport your setup and possibly even hug you (in a completely heterosexual way, of course).

That is all.

What the phuck Clay, why is your character Dr. Mario now?
Dr. Mario is my main now cuz I couldn't show Captain Falcon my moves and I'm not worthy. I dare you to say that's not a good reason.

And it is possible to hug in a heterosexual way; I know, I've done it lots of times. ;)

Pseudo shout-outs for today's surprisingly successful meeting.

Clay: You're awesome for doing the work in reviving the club. Hail to the chief mannn.

Juan: You're a TV beast, you really deserve props for bringing like half the TVs and the food.

Kal: Surprisingly enough, Event Coordinator actually ended up meaning something and you did a pretty good job organizing the crew battles and spurring the random low-tier tourney at the end. Also, that GF set was pretty awesome; we should do Roy v CF more often.

I must say I am impressed by how seriously everybody took their roles as officers and went the extra mile to make this meeting go without a hitch. It was like we'd been running this club professionally for years! I have to thank...

-Everybody who brought setups, especially Juan--these are obviously crucial to the club.
-Edgar & Kal for being soo helpful with announcements and effortlessly organizing Brawl & Melee crews and the surprisingly fun low tier tourney.
-Andrew for helping out and being inviting towards members up front.
-Me for selecting such a good group of officers, haha.

Yeah, the Daily Texan should be coming to our next meeting, which I believe will be October 10th unless there are any objections. We also need to decide some things:
-What times the meeting should start and end at. We could start much earlier then end a bit earlier like Kal was saying. I'll look into making a poll for this somewhere...
-Do we still need that extra TV from craigslist? I think we had enough TVs for this meeting but it might not hurt to get this other 20 incher for $50 (could pay for it with club money).
-Should we try to get pizza for the next meeting?
-I was thinking we could hold a Brawl singles tourney. This could take awhile so this should be the only event. We will do Melee singles and Brawl&Melee doubles tourneys eventually.

Also, I will get the video of the Melee low tier finals up as soon as I can, having some problems with splitting it up without losing quality. I made a youtube account for our videos (UTsmashclub) so y'all should subscribe!

Has the brawl outcome gotten any better. I went there once last year and there were like 3 people. I don't go to UT but my friend does and we are always looking to play some brawl. I know yall all like Melee better though. heh

The meeting will have to start MUCH earlier.
Why? Cuz the football game is in the evening, starts at 6:15, and its in Austin, no one will show up if the meeting is the usual 5-11.
And I can't speak for all the officers, but I know I'd like to watch it.
And I know Edgar and Juan like football.
How about Kal's idea of noon-6PM? That'll work perfect.

I don't give a **** about football. But I do agree that the meeting should start at around noon. Instead of ending around 6:00, I'd prefer it end around 8:00.

Vote people! (I lack the intuitiveness to find the poll maker on this thread -__-)

Also, updated news if you didn't notice!

What matters is having enough people to do a tournament.
And on that note, I thought 12-6 would be better cuz everyone who qualifies for the later rounds needs to stick around for them. Particularly if we dominate them, people will be more interested in watching the beginning of the game than the end.

Look, if the meeting goes until 8pm that doesn't mean you have to stay until then. You're welcome to go watch the game at 6 if you want.

I'd like to post some results from the first meeting but need help remembering them. So the winning melee crew had Kal, Jamal, Lonnie, and who else? Also were the low tier tourney results as follows: 1. Kal, 2. Edgar, 3. Me, 4. Rohan, 5. Lonnie or Albert?

Another poll guys: Should we have meetings every saturday or every other?http://apps.facebook.com/opinionpolls/poll.php?pid=1254374955

If we did every weekend, we could shorten the times a bit and hold fewer events so it's not too much work for us officers, who do have other things to do. But, yeah I think a lot of us would play smash every weekend anyways. Incidentally, can everybody access these polls? I'm not sure if I have to invite you first for you to vote...
