Oh. My. God.

The greatest thing imaginable has happened.

Rebecca Chambers is playable in RE5 merc. Not only is she as adorable as ever, she is over-****ing-powered.

It's glorious. They took all her bubble gum and she's pissed.

She sounds like Pichu, adorable and broken as hell. :p

Somehow, the laptop crashed while I had it in sleep mode overnight. So, the commentary for grand finals was lost. Which is a real bummer cuz it would have made the vids extremely entertaining to watch on YT lol. Oh well, it was good practice for doing commentary next time.

Yes, it is quite sad, I'm really sorry. On the plus side, I figured out how to convert videos recorded with mono sound to stereo.

It's a little wrong. Tak and I faced first round, and Rawr and Sova faced first round. I beat Tak, Rawr beat Sova. Tak and Sova are sent to losers and play, where Tak wins.

In winners I beat Rawr and proceed to lose against Yu. Jos forfeits to Yu (I think?) since he wasn't there. In losers, Kal beats blackfox and Buns beats Tak. Buns also beats Kal, who then proceeds to lose to me. I don't know who wins between Rawr and USSR, but I know Arc beats whoever that is and then beats Tirno. Then I beat Arc, then Jos forfeits to me by default, and then Yu wins grand finals.

I am too good. Anyone remember who wins between Rawr and USSR?

And no commentary?? Noooooooooo!

Edit: Also, what was the split for the pot? I think I ended up leaving before the pot was divided out (and Jos did too, lol).

The next meeting will not be until Saturday April 3rd since the next two Saturdays are spring break and some of us may be going to Phase 7 on Mar 27th.

We should hold our big Melee tournament for Darkrain & co. on Saturday April 17th. It could have a $1 or $2 venue fee. We might as well have doubles as well as singles. The entry fee for singles could be $5 and for doubles could be $5 per person ($10 per team). I'll reserve WEL 1.316 now and as soon as I get confirmation we should post a thread advertising this event in the Southwest tournament room.

Clay, if the tournament is advertised, I recommend a $5 venue fee, as that is the standard, and making singles $10 per player and doubles $20 per team.

Not to take a bias standpoint (ok maybe I am), but isn't a venue fee, as the name implies, the fee incurred towards finding a place to host the tournament and other miscellaneous things? In this case, the 'venue' would be the rented room, which only costs $5. Miscellaneous things would be snacks, and perhaps a house cut for the club or other things I may be missing, but I can't imagine something like that exceeding $30, which is equivalent to 6 entrants.

Of course, I know little about running a tournament and I may be completely wrong about the venue fee at all. I just don't think that we're exactly in the 'standard', as you put it, since our venue is just a room in a university, and not a typical venue that you'd expect a big tournament to be in.

Again, I don't really know much. If you could enlighten me Kal, that'd be cool.

i agree with matt on this one. we only got a room at the campus; not like any arena or anything.

Anyone going to Phase 7 should get definitely conformation from Darkrain that he's coming, or it could be a disappointment, at least for Melee players (and me).

On a side note, University Orchestra is having a concert this Tuesday from 7:30-9 PM in Bates Recital Hall in MRH. Matt and I will be playing, and you can witness Clay on his first ever date!.

While we could use some extra funds, I don't think it's entirely fair to make everybody that comes to this 6th meeting provide them via a $5 venue fee. I think it's better to have a venue fee at every meeting that just covers the cost of that meeting (i.e. $1 at every meeting). Having said that, we could probably afford pizza for the meeting with a $5 venue fee. As for those tournament entry fees, they sound good to me.

Thanks for bringing up my private life, Rohan. While we're on the subject, can you guys guess how many women I slept with in the past week? Hint: it ends with "illion."

6.022 x 10^23?

Anyway, my suggestion was not that we should have a $5 venue fee each time. I meant that it should only be for the tournament. $5 is a normal, acceptable amount to charge for a venue fee when the tournament is $10 per player. We should order pizza for those who pay the venue fee, and the rest can go to the club.

Zerillion? I had to make up some word haha

I wouldn't mind paying those kind of entry fees, but I do work, and some others might be even more reluctant to enter, as shown in previous tournaments

I've been on 4 dates my whole life, there, we're even, ha.
And those who don't appreciate classical music need an incentive to come.

Jose, it's the same price as everywhere else. We may charge a lesser fee, but it depends on how much everything costs us and how much profit we wish to make.

And Matt, your argument is semantical. The "venue fee" I was referring to is the fee we charge players for using our venue. Whether we should charge only exactly as much as necessary to break even is a different question entirely.

An advantage of using those standard tournament entry fees is it would likely attract more non-UT smashers since they stand to win more money and it makes our tournament look legit.

Concerning the venue fee, the question is: how much profit do we wish to make? Well, we effectively have -$8 in our club bank account right now (this is after I reimburse Juan for snacks, $70 for 7 previous meetings). Assuming we will have 4 more meetings each costing close to $20, then the club needs almost $90 to get out of the red and cover expenses for the rest of the semester.

Everybody applaud Rohan for being less of a loser than I! Way to go, supreme playa.

They won't let you in unless you pay the $5 door fee. And the tournament is $10 to enter, Matt.

teehee

I may drive there, in which case I'll bring along some people. Maybe you could be one of the Chosen Few, Matt! Join me, and together we can rule the galaxy as Father and Son!

OK as long as I get to be the Father in conquest. And I guess I could go on a spicy chicken nugget hiatus if it's to play at Phase 7.

Matt, why must you ruin all of the ****ing moments? First of all, no, I'm the father, biatch.

Second of all, you're supposed to make a decision and fall into the pit and stuff. Then you yell Ben and Leia's name like a little *****, then Lando picks you up in a space ship.

*******.

More like, you'd get 2-0'd by Bye.

Also, speaking of tournaments, what's the status of our April tournament?

Yeah, Bye faces great players a lot so good luck beating him. True, he has never, to my knowledge, won any set ever but he must be improving considering he attends almost all tournaments and gets so much practice!

I want to go to Phase 7 also. We should all actually wear red shirts this time! Since there's like 5 people on campus that want to go, we might need another person to drive, and I'm pretty sure Rohan won't...

I just got confirmation for WEL 1.316 on both April 3rd and April 17th (2pm-midnight)!
Our major tournament should be on April 17th. I figure we'll start letting people in and registering at 2:30pm. The main events will be Melee Singles and Melee Doubles. Among the side events we could do are Brawl Singles, Melee Low Tier singles, Brawl-, maybe Brawl+. We might as well make the venue fee $5 so we can provide pizza. We should waive the venue fee for anybody that brings a full setup or at least a TV.

So does somebody want to create the thread for this event? I could do it but I think Kal or Edgar would be better for the job.

We should make the thread together, as a team. Kal and Edgar's thread, all hot and twisted together...like threads.
