Brelooming Disaster dmed me on Discord a little while ago and asked me to tell you guys that he's going into intensive care tomorrow.

It's... well, it's not looking so good.

There's a pretty good chance he'll die soon.

I'm not sure if he's open to dms right now or not.

He said that he doesn't want anyone to stress out over the situation, so I hope that we can all respect his wishes on that.

Pretty sure the best thing any of us can do is hope and pray for the best outcome possible.

I hope for the best to him. This isn't easy to anyone and no should have to go through such a thing, especially when they're just a kid.

I really hope he beats the odds, I have faith in him and I'll be doing everything I can to help which is to say I'll just hope he's okay and maybe if he's open to DM's I'll root him on.

I really hope the dude will be okay as it really sucks he has to go through something like this especially at that age.

I also once watched this video that showcased every Golden Gallery Painting in Luigi's Mansion, and also claimed to feature a Luigi's Mansion 2 trailer at the end.

This was well before Dark Moon was ever announced, and at the time I was gullible enough to maybe believe the video's claim, or at least check it out.

I was instead greeted with a very gruesome zombie man making a very disturbing scream.

Screamers aren't generally harmful in the grand scheme of things but trying to pull one is still a serious **** move, imo.

Bullying is bullying, folks. Even if somebody is being a jerk, it doesn't mean we should be saying certain things to certain people. I get certain situations can make us angry or frustrated, but this is like the 2nd or 3rd time somebody has left the boards after getting "yelled at". Neither time was being talked to, but talked/ yelled at.

It's not just an icon. There's a person there. I may have Cap as my profile avatar, but I'm not actually Captain America. I'm a skinny white dude who teaches during the day and games at night when I can. All of you are people behind those profiles. Some of you have become good friends with each other, which is fantastic.

I don't know the ins and outs of every situation that happens, but I've seen some just...mean stuff. We can do better than that. Stuff happens, and everybody makes mistakes. But we can do better.

tbf i'm pretty sure golden left because of other issues rather then being called out on smashboards

he apparently hasn't really been in a good mental spot lately and i don't think either of the posts responding to him were that upsetting

he's also replied to fairly innocuous posts with suicidal intent before too, so i think it's just his own personal battle with suicide that caused him to leave rather than some outright bullying and harassment

Christ. I could see why he wanted to talk to me as long as he could that one night. Glad I was able to, and especially be on the same page about Mother 3 and other stuff.

As someone who is a flinchy shut-in who can barely handle anything behind the icon, there's a reason I actively avoid going on Smashboards threads outside the socials and feel my ability to maintain social discourse actively deteriorate when I'm on some other forums. People convince themselves that if a topic isn't "serious" then that gives them the right to be volatile towards other people because there's no stakes, and that if it IS serious then they have the right to be volatile because they have the moral high ground. And then they dig their heels in that anyone who criticizes them for that is a "hypocrite" because taking issue with toxic behavior is apparently just as bad as if not worse than the toxic behavior itself. People being awful to each other is disturbingly normalized on the internet, and I dunno, a lot of times I like to think the people here in this thread are better than that but given the wrong conversation a lot of people I care about can have some very unfortunate flaws revealed.

I feel like part of it comes down to rhetoric and part of it comes down to people needing to put themselves in each other's shoes, but the most uncomfortable part is that I'm pretty sure the majority of people that end up being toxic to others aren't willing to even acknowledge that they are, let alone change. And I really, really wish that a lot of you were better than that, for your sakes and for the sakes of everyone around you. Heck, I'm not perfect, I have some awful reactions and distressing normalized behavior sometimes too. But I feel like the first step is just to know how to realize you've done something wrong and learn how to apologize. And the second step is to at least try to do better.

Seriously, be nice to each other, everyone. You have no idea how much of a difference it makes.
