ALRIGHT, THAT'S IT. WE"RE GETTING WHOLESOME UP IN HERE.
I'll start with a wee bit of generalizing. Basically, I find that I'm comparatively older to a good number of posters in here. Obviously I'm not the
oldest, but I'm older than a good number of folks. Clearly everybody has their own story, background, identity...it's not too often where you'll find a space on the web where people get along with each other and try to support one another.
We're all here because we like Smash. That's what brought us here, but it's not necessarily the only thing that allows us to continue the communication we have here. Some of you are comedians, some are more about talking about Smash, some type out long posts. However, everybody is still welcome in the thread.
Even yesterday, while we were talking Smash and there were differing opinions nobody really got aggressive or angry. I will say, I was glad that the conversation went the way it did, because not only did my opinion change slightly, but I felt not that I was being "attacked" but simply disagreed with, and humored.
Obviously, teen years and into our early 20's can be a stressful time. I feel like a lot of folks have at least some amount of time where they feel down. Hell, I was even down on myself a few weeks because I didn't feel like I was doing a good job at school, or that I was making a difference. The past two weeks proved me incredibly wrong.
I was told yesterday that one of the students I took to Buff State last week hated English last year, slept during class, skipped class, and was just depressed. This year, she turned completely around. She came to school. She loved English, and she presented because I was her teacher. I was given 8 appreciation cards by staff and students. I still question my existence every day, but I know now that even at my worst, I make a difference.
Now, you guys may not be teachers. But there's no doubt in my mind that you make a difference in
somebody's day, and that's what matters.
I would like to share a thank you to this thread. You deal with me on almost a daily basis, whether it's my long essay-like posts, my
sometimes friction-y Smash opinions (well and poorly constructed at times), my occasional ****posts, and I guess just being Old Man Jones.
Also,
@punished faygo ,if you need anything you're more than welcome to let me know. (I can also share my discord with anybody who wants it). I don't know you personally, but I can see that you care about people, and more than anything like to make people laugh. That's a great trait to have. At the same time, I would recommend that you take some time to love yourself. Everybody deserves
at least that. Don't count yourself out. I'm not gonna be the guy to say, "HEY DON'T BE DEPRESSED", because that's like, not even a thing. But if you surround yourself with some great people who support you and want the best for you, that's half the battle there. There's plenty of people who care here, and I don't care what anybody says...online friends are just as good as local friends. They're almost even better, because they don't even get to judge what you look like before becoming friends with you!
I don't know whoever else is having any issues, but please feel free to reach out if you ever need somebody to talk to. I can get pretty busy, but I always try to chat with folks when I can.
(Ok, so now that I've said something nice, say something nice about somebody else!
Or me, because I'm ****ing great!)
