I know it's super childish and selfish of me to say, especially after all the amazing stuff in the direct, but I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO pissed that they locked so much stuff to the 3D World style! It's so unfair!

Nah I'm with you.

The pipes, pathing, switching, and phasing stuff probably could be set up in the other modes without much hassle. Even Cat Mario shouldn't be much fuss.

Doubly so since for all the 3D World stuff you still can't make any more than a 2.5D level.

Don't know why they passed on that other than to raise up 3D World, but at least it's dope there.

Different physics and powerups that affect gameplay, there's a reason why no SMB2. DKC Maker would be great though.

Nintendo out here continuing to kill the Wii U long after it's a already been dead. Mario Maker 2 looks freakin' fantastic, I can't wait! Really disappointed and kinda low key mad at amiibo costumes being dead, though. Probably means Nintendo's getting ready to kill off amiibo after the currently announced Smash ones. Regardless, as someone who loves creation tools, this game might end up being in my top 3 Switch games once all is said and done. Again, it looks freakin' brilliant.

Also lol that Nintendo Online garbage at the end deflating things. The vouchers are super dumb and no one's gonna use 'em.

I may have been a wee bit off on a few things about Erdrick, however I still actively foresee him getting into Smash.

It’s simply a mix of leakers saying it’s “Erdrick”, a Dragon Quest pick, and then there’s the fact that it simply makes sense.

That Nintendo Direct focus on DQXI pretty much speller it out for me, and it is Square Enix’s second largest JRPG, with a legacy to boot.

Then, Square Enix has actively wanted to expose the west to the series, and it’s actually pretty genius to get their pick into Smash, considering it’s a marketing/money-making machine.

So for me, that just leaves three open spots remaining, and I get a feeling at least two will come from Capcom and Namco respectively. I expect another surprise too, but who knows what will take that spot?

Haven’t watched the Direct, but i’ll watch when I get home.

I wouldn't say I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO pissed like you, but that really did put a damper on things. I mean, I understand why they had to do it, since otherwise they would've had to turn a ton of things into sprites 3 times over for each retro style, but it still sucks.

They just needed to transfer a couple things, honestly. Clear pipes, the blinking blocks, and the car, that's all that really matters to me. It wouldn't have hurt to just do those 3, right? I had so many cool contraption ideas for those 3 things, but now I have to work with the ugliest style...

Also I guess the voucher is Nintendo's way of having digital discounts, not the most optimal discount but hey, at least it's better than nothing. I know I'll use one of them to get Super Mario Maker, but the second one is a tie between Mario Kart, Fire Emblem, and Donkey Kong. I'm a fan of these three series in question so I don't know which one to choose, any suggestions on which one I should get? I guess I COULD save it for when Pokemon comes, that's another way of using it I guess.

The game is LITERALLY designed around a full screen. Levels are made with a FULL SCREEN in mind. You can't just make a split screen mode and call it a day, that would absolutely break every single level and get you and others blind-sided by everything.

Just buy one of these. They're cheap and work on the switch screen just fine. It's how I've been making stages so far.
