It happens to me all the time.
Usually I'm looking at fan art of either Fire Emblem or Granblue Fantasy, and before I know it 3 hours have gone by.
Not exactly the best thing to do when you have a paper due the next day, but eh... it all works out in the end.

Well, there's psychology behind it.

The reason why appealing to the lowest common denominator works is because the average person is... well... average. Most people won't get high concept references or humor, meaning they draw less likes.
