echoes of fighters pass characters can still be included in the 'first' fighter's pass (i.e. jane as a future bonus given retroactively to joker owners) - hell, if they really do decide to add new echoes through free updates, then we could see more recent characters like octolings get a second chance

She's the main focus of the P5R trailer we saw back in March. They're absolutely going to show her off in whatever new trailer they have lined up.

i think he meant no echoes as the fighter's pass's focus - his way of reassuring people that they aren't just putting down money for echoes of existing characters

there's nothing that excludes either joker or any of the other 4 characters from getting echoes, now or in the future

Despite Sakurai's words, I don't think Echo Fighters are impossible for DLC. As Gentlepanda mentioned, the DLC fighters list can easily accommodate more than 5 characters, but isn't set to accommodate more than 5 stages. So, a possible explanation for this is that we could get Echo Fighters based on characters who already have stages. For example, if they added "Jane" as an echo of Joker, she wouldn't need a new stage, as Mementos would work for her.

Plus, I personally interpret Sakurai's words as "the main 5 fighters of the Fighter's Pass won't be Echoes", not "Echoes won't happen, period", but that's just me personally.

I said it once before, but if "Jane" ends up being a no-show in Smash Bros Ultimate by the end of its post-launch development cycle, she'll go down as one of, if not the biggest development mystery in the series, unless Sakurai discusses it later.

That said, I don't expect anything related to "Jane" anytime soon. Maybe later this year, but definitely not anytime soon (Maybe during E3 or the second half of the year following E3). If more Persona x Smash Bros. related stuff happens at the concert or sometime before E3, then color me surprised.

At this point in time, I am far more inclined to believe "Jane" is either a dummy file or a newcomer unrelated to the Persona series that is built from Joker's development assets than believe her to be the mystery P5R girl. Of course, my gut could be wrong and "Jane" is indeed the mystery Persona girl.

That's my two cents on "Jane", you may return to your regularly scheduled forum posting.

Honestly, I think Echo fighters can be sold separately from the fighters pass, but considering they’re make those fighters from the pass, as well as stages, and music, I’m not sure if an echo would come up.

1. He was specifically talking about the Fighter's Pass, he never mentioned what could happen after (or even during) it.

2. He's Massive Hero Soccer Guy, he can do whatever the Hell he wants. If he wants to add bonus echoes, there it is.

Not saying it will or won't happen, just saying.

Ex. If you don't have Joker, you wouldn't be able to get Jane at all. If you do, you get her for free.

Yeah, I don't play with miis option but if I ever did, it'd be nice knowing I had a few more costumes to choose from.

my only issue with further alt costumes is that ultimate's UI seems very focused on the 8 hard limit because of the stock icon selection thing

skin selection in squad strike, for example, wouldn't fit with more than 8 stock icons

Patience, LTP! They're obviously saving them all for E3. We're gonna find out who the rest of the characters are in some capacity, and then we're going to continue waiting again and again for their individual releases, but that's okay because we'll know who they are and we'll know they're coming eventually.
