Combat system is based on the same principles of SMT of exploiting weakenesses, the major difference is the pacing as the game has VN-like portions that progress like a in-game day. It might be or not to your liking depending if you like these segments.

....'Cause this sounds more like an (unsubstantiated) opinion to me. How do you prove (or disprove) something like this outside of anecdote? "Gamer" is already such a broad and poorly defined group anyway that I don't think it's really a useful way of categorizing people outside of identifying some shared interests (and even then, not all "gamers" play the same game genres).

By the by, I finished Chapter 2 of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Things to note.

-Poppi is adorable and I will protect her from round sexual predators/Tora
-I'm starting to like the combat now. Once I got Tora and Nia, I was able to start understanding the whole teamwork components the game laid out for me since the ****ing Prologue. It's pretty cool to not have to run for my life in the overworld now.
-Morag's cool. Hope she becomes a party member. Easy as **** boss, though.
-Rex and Pyra should just **** already.
-I love this ****ing soundtrack!

If things start picking up, I might go ahead and play Xenoblade Chronicles 1 since I hear that game is also great.

In game they are kinda like summons that your characters use to execute special attacks, they are similar to the demons in SMT they carry elemental strenghts and weaknesses depending on which one you have at hand (In 5 you can also negotiate with them). Main difference is that your MC can change them during and outside the battle and can use multiple ones, but your party members have a set one that remains with them during all of the game but can be upgraded.

I'm over the moon that the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs are back. I've missed this time of year so much. Hockey is one of the sports that I can actually follow regularly, and whenever I stay neutral and just watch just for fun instead of ONLY watching my favorite team...dang, it's a very low stress, fun time.

Anyway, to answer your question,
Persona's great! It is however entirely different and that should be remembered going into it.

In terms of story, it's far more character focused and dialogue focused, with you taking the place of a teenager and interacting with schoolmates to raise your levels of friendships with them. Each game has a theme that's explored and reflected throughout the story, like rumors, death, truth, rebellion etc. and the enemies reflecting that as well. It's not a game franchise that "rocks the boat" in terms of crazy out-there concepts, but it does pull off the tropes and concepts you're used to very well. Think a really well done high school shonen.

In terms of general gameplay, instead of being a pure JRPG, it's split between a social simulator where you go about the life of a normal teenager talking to friends and increasing your "social links" and a dungeon crawler along the lines of what you're used to. While alone these systems aren't particularly deep, the way they interact and feed into each other is pretty fun- talk to friends to increase your combat options in dungeons, and explore dungeons to fulfill sidequests to please your friends.
One big part, fusion, instead of forming your party, forms your own "persona" while your party consists of your real-world friends. You are the most flexible character in your team, so it's up to you to switch around when necessary and support the team. However your time is limited via a calendar system where you have to manage your time between the real world and dungeon crawling with only a limited amount of time being available.

Time for the meat and bones, combat. Like SMT, you have a turn manipulation system, however instead of the "Press Turn" system you have the "One More" system. Whereas the Press Turn divides your full turns across your teammates for hitting a weakness, Persona uses a simple "+1 turn to the attacker" system, allowing them to attack again. Keep hitting enemies, and keep getting more turns. You can't do it infinitely though, when you hit an enemy they get knocked down which means landing a weakness on them will not grant you another turn, moving on to the next character in your line. However, if you manage to knock down everyone via weaknesses or crits, you are able to do an "All Out Attack" which does a large amount of damage to every enemy for free. Its damage is proportional to how many active party members are left, though so it may be better to hold off.

Visuals are great.

TL;DR check it out, you might like it. I highly recommend it.

Even then Gamers are defined as people who's primary entertainment is Video Games which would mean that "Gamers" aren't really a group of people in the normal sense.

There's bad people in every group be it Movie buffs, Sports fans, Even Gamers but not all gamers believe what you think they do to the point that I wouldn't even say 50% of gamers believe what you think they do.

Even then there's no reason for you to want to bomb the group yes people can and likely do have awful opinions but Bombing the people is going a little bit too far just ignore them and leave them alone they're only being attention seeking *****bags and by ignoring them it gives them less power.

I’m willing to bet we get an Online Fix announcement. Maybe at E3. I honestly don’t know what kind of Smash presence there will be. Perhaps an announcement of the next big update but that seems so close. Probably another Invitational with PP and Joker thrown in and the rest of the cast that was absent before.

I don’t wanna hang on to hope that the next dlc character will be announced in some form but that would be pretty cool.

By the time E3 rolls around there's only going to be 8 months to release 4 characters.

Outside of a couple double releases, they're going to have to pick up the pace to hit that deadline.
