Word to the wise: The Metaverse is the ultimate version of "your mind makes it real". The only reason their guns work in the Metaverse is because they look so realistic, the Shadows they face think that they're real guns.

I figured that much. I just wanted to have this section where the two Jokers fight IRL, then Ren realises he can't win here so he drags The Joker into the Cognative World so he can use his Persona.

Can't really do that if Ren can't fight in the real world.

Combat system is based on the same principles of SMT of exploiting weakenesses, the major difference is the pacing as the game has VN-like portions that progress like a in-game day. It might be or not to your liking depending how much do you like these segments.
