Maybe there isn't one. If I were Sakurai, I'd probably give DLC content weird irrelevant names too just so dataminers wouldn't have anything meaningful to go off of.

The fact that they moved/deleted the references to DLC characters shortly after dataminers made their revelations public suggests that they never expected people to find them.

I think we overestimate how much Sakurai and his team want to toy with us. We're just trying to finding meaning in the shapes of clouds over here.

She's rapidly increasing in relevance, having been in Captain Toad, NSMBUDX, Odyssey, and Super Mario Run.

As another Resident Evil character supporter, I think both Leon and Jill would be fantastic picks.

In terms of who makes more sense, I think that’s where objectivity kinda gets blurrier. Both have classic designs, and I would be absolutely hyped for either of them over Chris Redfield or Wesker, but I think I would prefer Jill simply because she’d be different in that she’s not the like, 6th male 3rd party.

Jill isn’t a better pick than Leon because she’s a woman. As I said, i’d be pleased by either. I think it would just be a little different is all.

Now that Joker's render is out, I was able to use Warchamp's roster maker to make a neat little sig of my top 5 favorite Ultimate fighters. I might swap Ganon out for someone else down the road (Maybe Dedede?), but for now this is pretty much who I enjoy playing the most (or will once he's out, in the case of Joker).

I was only half serious.

While the name might have some significance and meaning to it, I don't see the point in us going out of our way to solve something that's ultimately nothing important. Clearly it's not related to anything major like we thought it was, so let's just assume Sakurai didn't intend for the name to mean anything to people outside the development team.

Actually, the Smash wiki says that Joker is the second character to have his victory theme pulled from his home game (after Sonic), but I'm pretty sure they've forgotten that Cloud also pulled his victory theme directly from FFVII.

I'm not sure if anyone corrected that but that's wrong. The victory fanfare used for Cloud I actually a re-orchestration/remake of the original FFVII of much higher quality. Making the Victory fanfare the only FF remixes we got~

Which is why we should drop all the speculation that Jane is someone else. She's cut content. A remnant from a past vision or understanding of Persona 5R. She is nothing.

Anywyas, if we do get an RE character, I think it would be Leon. He and Jill have roughly equal levels of popularity, but I think the fact that he's more associated with Nintendo, was the star of the 2nd and 3rd best selling RE games and has relevance with the remake gives him the leg up here.

I do have this game, I remember all the crazy & fun party I had with stranger online, and overall, for what it was, it was a really fun game (that, and it was the first and only game I had on my 3DS for some time, so you know I put lots of time in it) tho it's been YEARS since I play it, so while I was good before, I don't know if I still have my Mercenaries skill those days.

Jill is my preference too. If one couldn't guess that. I don't like horror general, but Jill won me over thanks to MvC, or moresoe her omission from 3 and Infinite (battle-suit Jill dosn't count). I like her personality, i like her design, I like the moveset she could have. Especially if Sakurai takes influence from MvC2

If we get a Resident Evil rep I'm definitely hoping for Jill just because she's great in MvC2 and it'll be nice to have more women on the roster. Adds more balance, yknow. Leon would be great as well though so, no issues from me. I mean, yeah, I want Phoenix Wright more than any Capcom rep but hey, it's all good.

With Joker out I guess my new most-wanted list is 2B, Phoenix Wright, Travis Touchdown, Elma, and Style Savvy Rep. But man, I'm genuinely satisfied with just getting Joker. I'm still blown away at how amazing this is. And he drops when I'm done with work and stuff!

Yeah, but she's not a female protagonist option for the main campaign so I care about her less now.

You can make educated guesses, like brave being Erdrick cause that's literally his class, but nothing is ever conclusive.

I do have this game, I remember all the crazy & fun party I had with stranger online, and overall, for what it was, it was a really fun game (that, and it was the first and only game I had on my 3DS for some time, so you know I put lots of time in it) tho it's been YEARS since I play it, so while I was good before, I don't know if I still have my Mercenaries skill those days.

The problem with playing M3D today is that the online co-op and audio aren't great. When you're playing with someone over the internet there aren't many ways to communicate, so you're basically just playing the game normally with another person who happens to be there.

But I love Mercenaries mode in RE4/RE5, and M3D is basically that remixed with character customization, on the go. I bought a 3DS specifically for it and Revelations back in the day.

Plus it has a killer soundtrack.

My go-to for that is Jill, because she's the one I associate the most with the series, and I wanna see staindgrey go all ponycorn, and freak out when she's revealed. That being said, I'd be fine with whomever they decide to choose.

Imo, Resident Evil kinda makes sense as potential DLC. We're talking about Capcom's best selling franchise with 90 million copies sold, and it helped define the survival horror genre. I'd be shocked if it wasn't at the very least considered

I feel like DLC characters coming with Spirits, will only apply to DLC characters of series new to Smash. I'm confident we'll get at least ONE DLC character from an already repped series and they won't come with any spirits, just a stage and music.

Man, I'm just super happy that we're getting 4 brand new characters. Though I can't even think of any more characters I want. I got K Rool so I'm good lol. But if they're all implemented with as much attention as Joker, this is looking REALLY good. My brother plays Smash, but as a Persona fan, the trailer last night got him incredibly hyped so that's cool!
