I see.......Mmm, no. You don't build your stats in DMC or Bayonetta. You earn currency to spend on abilities...
NieR: Automata is the closest thing to a Hack 'n Slash RPG there's ever been so I recommend that one for you big time.
I guess that’s where the disconnect is. I don’t think strategy is fun.The strategy that can come with it. There are moments in RPGs that don't just come from being Batman in Arkham City.
From what I remember playing from DQ 9, I had a ton of fun growing stronger, exploring the world set around me, and overcoming challenging bosses through my growth and strategies. When I had my brother playing with me, doubly so because we were both sharing the journey.
For Paper Mario, the charming presentation combined with active actions being necessary add active effort to each battle. Plus it's not usually about the individual battle, but overcoming the entire dungeon without blowing all of your resources.
Persona 4 combines amazing writing, an interesting double-life setpiece, and strategic gameplay into one. You have to try to get results and trying is fun when the writing is amazing, the soundtrack is blissful, and the combat is easy to grasp. My only complaint would be the difficulty spike with the first dungeon boss.
Fair. You win that point. I could have been less hostile.Because in saying you don't like the genre, you were rude to people who did.
"Can we all agree turn based combat sucks?" "Oh god why? What about turn based battles is fun to you?" "The gameplay is just trash."
I don't know what it says that the thing that surprised me most here was that someone goes by Isis Agora Lovecruft. There was a problem fetching the tweet
Viridi was right
While we're on the topic, you have a real bad habit of presenting your opinions as if everyone should take them as fact.Fair. You win that point. I could have been less hostile.
In all fairness I don't think anyone finds dying fun, outside of sandbox games where some people find particularly hilarious ways to die.And even still. Like I started my initial point with. I don’t think loosing and dying is fun.
Why? Like, there’s a reason you find something fun. Something isn’t fun just because of some sort of nebulous fun force.i personaly find that very toxic but nothing I can do other then say that
I think Pumpkaboo's point was that considering you've stated, twice, your main way of having fun in a game is "running up and bashing your opponent's face in before they can do anything", that says a lot about you. Why? Like, there’s a reason you find something fun. Something isn’t fun just because of some sort of nebulous fun force.
That seems like a subjective take to me.You have a very werid view on games. You play games to have fun, not to fufill your power fantasy
Heh. That's not the first time I heard that. First time I heard it was when it was said by me. Part of it is enjoying the growth that comes with it but that's a personal story for another day. You do you. Just watch out when you say something sucks, because most of the time it's just you not liking something, and that'll draw a bad crowd. it's not strategy at that point. That's just sense.I guess that’s where the disconnect is. I don’t think strategy is fun.
That’s where the disconnect is here. When I finally beat a hard challenge in a game I’m just mad. I don’t feel relieved or satisfied. In all fairness I don't think anyone finds dying fun, outside of sandbox games where some people find particularly hilarious ways to die.
Those of us who do like challenging games usually love that feeling of overcoming something difficult though, or the excitement of putting up as much of a fight as you can when you're on your last legs. If that's not for you that's fine, I just thought I'd explain the real reason some of us do like difficult games.
Box Theory and Grinch Leak told me that ages ago.Can we all agree that we're all disagreeable mother****ers? :V
I disagree.Can we all agree that we're all disagreeable mother****ers? :V
Are you sure you can't get those things irl? Because with enough work and effort you can surely get at least 2 of those, if not all three.I like to feel strong and badass and sexy. These are things I can’t get IRL so I turn to video games.
Yeah I get that, Hell, I feel good when I get to at least floor 2 on GungeonThat seems like a subjective take to me.
Especially since people generally feel incentivized by and rewarded when as you progress through a game, you get more powerful.
I hate you and your love for Incineroar. **** Incineroar. Can we all agree that we're all disagreeable mother****ers? :V
Well yeah. It says I’m an overweight unattractive unathletic ball who’s sick of getting stepped on by the world and wants to let off some steam.I think Pumpkaboo's point was that considering you've stated, twice, your main way of having fun in a game is "running up and bashing your opponent's face in before they can do anything", that says a lot about you.
I know that's not your intend, but when you repeatedly question the reason of people's enjoyment of something, it sounds unnecessarily confrontational. Why? Like, there’s a reason you find something fun. Something isn’t fun just because of some sort of nebulous fun force.
I know. I’m trying. I have to loose weight for.... reasons. But looking at my family history... my genetics are not in my favor. Are you sure you can't get those things irl? Because with enough work and effort you can surely get at least 2 of those, if not all three.
Source: Am becoming strong, badass, and sexy
NeverCan we all agree that we're all disagreeable mother****ers? :V
...
I refuse to believe you're going to stay like that even if it's true. You're gonna ****ing kill it in the futureWell yeah. It says I’m an overweight unattractive unathletic ball who’s sick of getting stepped on by the world and wants to let off some steam.
Im scared to find out what you just realized...
...I just realized something.
How you get your fun doesn't matter, as long as you actually get it.
It sounds like hard games are not your thing and you better should stick to more casual games because I don't think getting so heated over a game routinely is healthy. That’s where the disconnect is here. When I finally beat a hard challenge in a game I’m just mad. I don’t feel relieved or satisfied.
Like, DMC3. Every boss in that game after I would beat it I would just spend 5 minutes shouting at the tv and flipping it off.
It doesn’t excite me. It just makes me mad.
I'm even more scared to tell you.Im scared to find out what you just realized
FELLOW LUCAS MAINI hate you and your love for Incineroar. **** Incineroar.
I'm just kidding. I love you. But seriously **** Incineroar.
I mean, neither are mine. When I played genetic Russian Roulette all the chambers were loaded. My family has a history of multiple mental illnesses (something I've mentioned here) and obesity alongside that.I know. I’m trying. I have to loose weight. But looking at my family history... my genetics are not in my favor.
I don’t. This started because I said I liked easy modes! That’s it.It sounds like hard games are not your thing and you better should stick to more casual games because I don't think getting so heated over a game routinely is healthy.
One of Persona 3's party members is a dog. Not a guy in a costume like P4, or some anthropomorphized bobblehead like P5. Just a normal, everyday Shiba Inu who just so happens to be able to summon a Persona.Look. All I know is that I'm getting Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition on Wednesday through the power of... Amazon.
Can you play as an animal or a doggo in your RPGs? No?
Then they go in the trash.

There, now we know the difference of bad and good RPGs.![]()
Why not run or work out instead to let off steam?Well yeah. It says I’m an overweight unattractive unathletic ball who’s sick of getting stepped on by the world and wants to let off some steam.
Because that's hard. Why not run or work out instead to let off steam?
Working out has been proven to release endorphins in the brain, which are attributed to positive mental health and make you feel good overall.
I'm glad half of the Persona games are proven to be good RPGs by Scott.Look. All I know is that I'm getting Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition on Wednesday through the power of... Amazon.

I’ve heard that. And I am swimming to try to loose weight. But sweat sends me into a psycho state where all I can focus on is getting rid of the sweat. Why not run or work out instead to let off steam?
