wasn't most of the controversy that the movie spent more time trying to subvert your expectations than just tell a decent story
That was exactly the problem; it's just that anybody refusing to see that tried to gloss over people's legitimate grievances with 'oh, they're just racist/sexist'

TFA and Rogue one were good.

TLJ was alright, it had pretty imagery.

I saw Solo on a really bad day, so I dunno if my judgement is biased but I didn’t really enjoy it that much.
Nah, Solo was really bad.

Would be better if it didn't insist on killing almost all lovable characters it introduced immediately.

I know TLJ had flaws, but goodness, the critics are annoying.
They are bigots.
They say a movie is bad because "WOMAN".
Shiny there are people like that out there but most people do not like TLJ because its writing is atrocious and confusing.

The whole mutiny scene is idiotic.

Okay, I'mma step in here. I'm pretty sure most of the criticisms of The Last Jedi weren't necessarily about "WOMAN".

That's a disingenuous dumbing down of the people's complaints, and that's all I'm going to say.

The Last Jedi is easily my favorite Star Wars movie. I do think it kind of gets weak with the whole casino subplot but everything else is just so ****ing good.
Story, themes and characters are all great and I could write a whole lot more on how much I love the main trio, General Leia, Luke and Kylo and the character development each went through if given the time
The hyperspace ramming scene, Snoke's death, the fight with the Praetor Guards and Luke's final stand against Kylo Ren are easily the most hype moments for me in the entire franchise.
And don't forget the Force Bonding scenes because those were ****ing iconic and I can't express enough how good they are.

The only movie I really hated watching in a cinema was Transformers 4.

Good lord, watching that movie on the cinema felt like mental torture. I went to see it thinking “meh, It can’t be so bad.”... But it was way worse than I expected, too worse.

I still have to see Bumblebee, but hopefully Travis Knight makes more Transformers movies in the place of freaking Bay.

Thing is... Kylo Ren wasnt written to be sympathetic.

His whole thing is rejecting oppurtuties to change.
I know and I don't find his sympathetic but I don't think last movie giving him a redemption arc that will be out of place and forced would be a shock to anyone. That's why I'm not optimistic about his character.

i feel like it's gonna be some timey-wimey **** but with a whoooole lotta other **** and consequences that stem from it but tbh what tf do i even know

this movie is three goddamn hours long and we haven't even seen more than ten minutes of footage

russo's are wild and i'm sure there's gonna be some wacky **** that happens that freaks/fakes us all out
If there's a 3 hour runtime and a 1% chance Ant-Man will beat Thanos in the memed way every minute, there's a 108.5% percent chance it will happen. It's happening, ladies and gents.

Solo wasnt bad, it just exists which is worse because if it was a bad movie I would actually feel something about it.

rogue one has a pretty shaky first two acts

the final third is the best star wars movie out there
I feel like Rogue One had the most potential squandered.

It turned out decent, but it should've been better.

ngl this is the scene that convinced me that disney would be much better served expanding on existing material and periods than trying to make up new ones and just royally ****ing it up

price of admission made worth it right here

Solo was okay. Better then TLJ to be honest.

Worst it is is boring.

Worst TLJ did was be confusing and had me question certain character's brain power.

That mutiny scene should not have happened. It made everyone look bad.

Rogue one was just alright for me; the final scene with Vader is what really propels it up lol. I can't remember her name now (been awhile since I've seen it), but the protagonist was good; she played the character well. Everyone else was kinda meh though.

Oh we have a Jojo reference
As soon as the first person here mentioned the trailer for Star Wars 9 dropped, I went straight to Reddit and saw that somebody broke down the trailer.

When they mentioned the new robot was named D-O, that was the very first thing I thought of and commented on it lol.

Solo Spoils:

I just don't understand why they did the whole plot twist with Solo's ex being a Darth Maul spy considering she will never get brought back up in the future and Maul's died a long ways ago.

I liked The Last Jedi.

My current stance on the film is that it's flawed, but far from terrible.

I'd like to go more into detail on my opinion on the film, but I don't have the time for that atm. Besides that, while I thoroughly enjoyed the film upon initially seeing it, I think I need to watch it again first, as well. It's been nearly a year since the first and only time I've watched the whole film. That would definitely help me reevaluate my opinion on it.

Rogue One is good from a lore standpoint(which is my ****), the supporting cast and the Vader scenes(****ing Vader punning is everything I didn't know I wanted).
Never watched Solo because a Han Solo film never interested me tbh.

I'll die on the hill that TLJ is good though and everyone who disagrees with me just makes me stronger.

because disney star wars is basically in the same place as the DCEU was before shazam and maybe aquaman - constantly throwing up new plot threads that they hope will stick for later movies but won't because they're taking a year off after episode 9 to reevaluate their entire approach

I'm gonna remain optimistic about Episode IX tbh.
Maybe Rise of Skywalker is supposed to be a red herring
Maybe Palpatine id supposed to be a red herring.
Maybe JJ is actually Jar Jar and he bamboozled us all.

Maybe...

I suppose the hottest take at the moment would be thinking TLJ is the best Star Wars film and having excellent themes and characterisation throughout, the only issue being with pace in regards to Canto Bight.

December was for me a great month to go to the cinemas.

Alongside great stuff like Aquaman or Into The Spider-Verse, we finally saw a great version of the Transformers on the big screen after a decade of dealing with the soulless Michael Bay stuff.

I really want to watch Bumblebee.

I respect your opinion Shishoe. I definitely don't agree w/ it, but I can respect it.

They should've though of an approach prior to making TFA. It only took them 3 years and billions of dollars to realize this.

Also, I don't have any big red lines about Star Wars and not to sound dramatic but if Rey and Kylo Ren ends up together, I'll walk out of the theater screaming.

(****ing Vader punning is everything I didn't know I wanted).
That was something I expected given how Anakin was characterised when he wasn't whining about Sand.
He's quipping and joking and he spent a lot of time with Kenobi, of course he's gonna be a sassy prick.

When you try to remain chill, but the stress of being a wedding best man starts growing.

*An anime reaction image of a concerned chick goes here*
I dread the day my brother settles down and gets married, because I know I'll be his best man.

I don't wanna set up a bachelor's party for my own brother.
