I would agree unless the writer is trying to condone something bad.

That said, depictions of bad things don't always correlate with what the writer does. Stuff can be depicted as a way to condemn or educate about it.

Then there's ignorance from the writer's part but I wouldn't equate that with intolerance. Some people just need to learn.

That's the point I was making.

A villain deadnaming a Trans character does not in any way mean the writer condones the practice.

And I imagine accidental dead-naming happens a lot shortly after a Trans person comes out.

I have no issue saying Tropical Freeze is the best DKC game. The love put into it to capture what made the trilogy great while also adding its own visual modern charm is too much. It's a solid challenging platformer that has a great sense of action and ambiance.

Plus David Wise knocked the soundtrack out of the park.

If you're in College or High School there are plenty of organizations you can work with. Regardless there are organizations that need volunteers, interns, leadership, etc. that you can work with.

Donations are kind of superficial, but useful to LGBTQ+ causes nonetheless.

I'm not sure what you do or how old you are or whatever, but there are a lot of organizations you can join who will put you on a path to help. At my work, my personal office is an actual "safe zone" at our institution.

You asked how to do respectful representation and I can assure you most of your trans audience is not gonna enjoy seeing a character get deadnamed on purpose by someone else.
I'm telling you to avoid it as much as you can because usually such a thing is not necessary and it's a delicate topic to touch. If it's a "realistic" setting(as in, actually our Earth), the most you should do is an evil character misgendering them(everyone from the Zoldyck family besides Killua in HxH and Overhaul in MHA) but don't expect your trans audience to ever like that character again.

Villains have to be likeable?

I'm going to state it right out, I don't condone deadnaming, nor do I intend to deadname anyone, but preventing a writer from using it as a character tool for dramatic purposes or character growth is needlessly limiting.

Having a vile character constantly deadname a trans character until the trans character beats them up is a lot better than having the supposedly non-PC villain immediately accept the person's new name.

Anyway, I'm done with this discussion, if you still don't get my point it's not worth persuing.

Pretty sure we all do. I might not be the best person to answer this since I'm out of touch with the community, but it's not about doing something now. Otherwise, we'd all get off our chairs and start campaigning, am I right? It's about waiting for something big and supporting on the side in the meanwhile like the rest of us. Just don't be a **** about the subject, especially on the internet, and you'll do the community a huge favor.

I forgot about this song for some reason. A 10/10 masterpiece. I also really want to hear Wise's original version of the song because he mentioned it was originally for the Grassland Groove stage and was remarkably different.
