Yep. There's a place that does weekly friendlies and monthly tournaments that I've gone to for SFV, but their Smash scene is kind of weak. A friend who's much better than I am goes to a weekly tournament at the nearby campus that apparently has big enough turnouts to justify a tournament every Friday. $5 cover charge, $5 to enter.

I'll definitely lose, but I want to play more offline to see how I've actually improved.

"Brave" stands for "Brawl-Veteran". The DLC is a character that was in Brawl but not in the next games.
It's either Chibi Twilight Princess Link or a character made of all the Brawl veterans assembled like a robot from 80's anime and resized to have chibi proportions.

Piranha Plant's did at least. When the game first came out his parameters had it as the slowest character in the game both in the air and on the ground, when it finally released last month it was changed to being average in both of those stats.

And according to this post, we’ve seen this stat-changing in action.
