Okay I finally got around to playing XC2 where I left it (still very in the beginning)


Considering playing the Japanese audio track
Is there any reason why I shouldn't

the battle dialogue doesn't have subs and the party talks a whooooole lot while fighting

none of it is necessary to hear but it's pretty annoying since they say all their art names in engrish instead of japanese

also you'll miss out on malos' incredible english va, like it's legit waaaay too good for a game with mediocre english va

To be fair, a lot of Japanese words kinda derive from English (and other languages) a bit

But yeah the battle dialogue thing is a big thing
I was just getting irritated with the lipflaps mismatching the speech and Rex's... rex

no yeah the jp va is overall much better


the battle dialogue is just grating for me personally


i would say try it out for yourself and see what you think about it

Rex's delivery has been almost consistently terrible lol

Also the first time Nia started talking I felt like I was having some kind of cognitive dissonance lol

Yeah I'll probably switch
The battle dialogue might not be too much of a problem for me since I'm learning Japanese anyway


Wait- unless they talk to EACH OTHER during the fight?
Cause I live for that kinda thing ugh

My first thought was that you meant they just do the typical anime "not shutting up while fighting" and talking to themselves or something

It's kinda a mixture of both

Like they scream all their arts and such but they also talk to their blades plenty and occasionally to other party members when they pick them up or someone goes down or they start a Chain Attack etc etc, and every now and then after battle they'll chat with each other

english dub turns xenoblade 2 into a comedy, use it

i actually started with japanese but not being able to understand the english battle voices annoyed me too much
