The only ones with creative names are Double Dash and Super Circuit, as the remaining 2 are vanilla Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 which was named like pretty much else in the N64.
I mean, Double Dash and Super Circuit are the odd ones out as far as MK names go.

Super
64
DS
Wii
7
8

EDIT: Also 8D and Arcade GP

At the very least, 8's logo has the cool bonus of being a Mobius Strip, which fits with MK8's whole anti-gravity thing.
That's fair. You're right.

I just find it odd that 7 and 8 were numbered in sequential order. It's not typically Nintendo's thing. Outside of Mario Party and the first three Super Mario games, Nintendo doesn't really do numbers. Mario Kart, like Smash, has simply become a system seller they release one of on every console, and their names-- before MK7-- were named after that console or given a unique name. Continuing with '9' seems wrong to me somehow. Like '7' was named because "MK3DS" didn't work, then they capitalized on MK7's success by just calling the next one MK8.

Immediately is unlikely considering it's a rather niche Japanese-centric concert. I could see it happening like a day or 2 later though.
That’s not quite what I meant.

I meant that AFTER the Persona event, so between the 24th and end of April, there will be a Smash Direct, and Joker will be shown off and they’ll say, “Joker will become available at the conclusion of this broadcast!”

At least it seems plausible.

Patience is a virtue that takes too long, as the saying goes.

I would be mad about that. There would be no hype for the release date. Just a bunch of frustrated waiting before we know anything.

Y'know, my brother and I talked about all-time favorite consoles the other day. And I've always held fast to the fact that the Gamecube was my favorite one.

But I think I've changed my mind.

It's the New 3DS XL.

It's the New 3DS XL.
3DS is actually pretty great. Tons of fantastic original games and remasters: Ocarina of Time 3D, Majora's Mask 3D, Luigi's Mansion 3DS (I still really like that port even with its problems), Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Mario & Luigi: DT, Samus Returns, Smash 3DS, Fire Emblem Awakening, Pokemon, Miitopia, Tomodachi Life...

Lots of great stuff on that little thing. It's probably in my top three video game consoles, just underneath Gamecube and Switch.

I think the worst part is that the models actually look pretty decent for PS1 standards.
I wonder where they ripped them from that could be that low of a polygon count.

Or if they actually constructed the models themselves?

Not only that, it plays NDS games as well. Probably one of its best features. Plus a lot of SMT games, Kid Icarus among others.

IS is missing a great opportunity for a Western Killing Edge; the Krautana:

Ah well, they are Japanese, so, why do away with the Katana even if FE is primarily western in aesthetic? Still, Kriegsmessers are badass.

If they are ripped from something, the only thing I could think of would be the Gameloft mobile game:

Otherwise, FiM doesn't have any games that have models like that to my knowledge and the ones people use for SFM and GM are too high poly, so my guess is that they must be custom made.

Regardless, it's super impressive; the animations and textures didn't look bad at all.

So apparently, to be a Persona fan, you have to be a bad person? That's why Atlus hates you, and only begrudgingly releases anything.

Yeah, that was my thought process.

Like...
  • It's basically indestructible.
  • 32GB worth of digital games is a lot of games to carry around in my pocket, surprisingly.
  • The entire DS library is backwards compatible.
  • Smash, MK, two of the best Fire Emblems, the best Metroid game in a decade, the best 2D Zelda in two decades, one of the best Donkey Kongs, one of the best Marios, multiple Mario RPGs, the fantastic Zelda/Luigi's Mansion/Star Fox ports, the best Animal Crossing, Tomodachi Life, two Nintendo-themed Warriors games, a treasure trove of RPGs, lots of good virtual console games, a fantastic Resident Evil game AND The Mercenaries specifically for me, a surprisingly good RPG Maker, a damn good Street Fighter port along with Tekken & Blazblue on the go, all the Ace Attorney and Layton games, one of the best Dragonball games I've ever played, and three generations of Pokemon.
I think between the two enormous libraries (3DS/DS), the 3D effect that I actually quite like and the quality of the hardware, the New 3DS XL is genuinely my favorite console. It pains me to know that Nintendo's finally cutting off support because I'd love even more games to play on it.

I don't take my Switch on the go. My 3DS is too perfect (and far less likely to break).

Making a 1st person game like Half Life play surprisingly close to the PS1 Spyro trilogy has a lot of merit too, tbh.

For these guys in Mario Kart I imagine them having these karts:
:ultsonic: Speed Star with Tornado Glider
:ultmegaman: Rush Bike with Beat Glider
:ultpacman: Rally-X Kart with Galaga Glider

I’m trying to think of what their tracks could potentially be.

Since the release of P5, we already got three spin-offs, one (admittedly mediocre) anime, ton of crossovers involving Smash and now an upcoming concert and another game.

I don't see a reason to complain about my situation.

In the 3DS you can also play the best version of Crash Of The Titans, Jungle Climber and the Sonic Rush games thanks to the DS backwards compatibility.
