Here's a fun speculation game.

Nintendo announces an Echoes Pass for Smash Bros. Ultimate! For $14.99 you get 5 echo fighters/semi-clones of existing Fighters. What five characters would you want to see and who would they be echoes of?

For me, I'd like to see:

1. Celica - echo of Robin without durability mechanic
   1. Standard and Smash attacks are with Beloved Zofia, attacks do damage between Levin and Bronze Sword
   2. Special Attacks conduct self-harm instead of using durability. With this standard attacks using magic are changed to remove the book and deal small self-damage. In return they do more damage.
2. Black Shadow - echo of Captain Falcon using dark elemental attacks instead of fire
3. Dixie Kong - echo of Diddy Kong with some specials changed
   1. Recovery becomes Hair Helicopter (Similar to Duck Hunt Dog's)
   2. Standard Special becomes Hair Whip (Similar to Piranha Plant's Standard Special but less ridiculous)
4. Octoling - echo of Inkling, mainly cosmetic like Simon and Richter
5. Bass - echo of Megaman, uses different special weapons with different elemental effects, centers more around darkness
   1. Standard Special: Shadow Blade
   2. Recovery: Treble Adapter (Similar to R.O.B.'s recovery)
   3. Side Special: Napalm Bomb
   4. Down Special: Skull Barrier

Viridi and Jeanne...that is all I would support

Unpolular opinions, probably.
Octoling - . Chrom level echo, new Down B (Curling Bomb) and Final Smash (Inkstrike)
Ninten - . Has Ness's PK Fire.
Proto Man - . Has a shield, like the Links.
Galacta Knight - . Has a Link shield, and "sword" has a tipper like Marth.
Blaziken - . Falcon Punch changed to a kick, like Mii Brawler's version of the move. Final Smash is Brave Bird, basically a skin of Falcon's but with a kick from Mega Blaziken.

Well tbh none of those characters are COMPLETE clones a la Richter

Though I remember this one post on the ssbm subreddit (don't go there btw) where somebody said that Melee had a better roster then Ultimate because "at least it's not oversaturated with clones"

Actually Good Echo Fighters Ideas Because Mine Are Better Than Everyone Else's
Impa(): by-the-numbers Echo but has Zelda's Neutral B(renamed Sheikah Shield), design is mainly based off Skyward Sword. Final Smash is the same as Sheik's.
Alph(): just... please.
Eliwood(): slightly lighter with increased speed, has Roy's Blazer and all flame effects are red. Final Smash is Triangle Attack, where he summons Hector and Lyn for a combined triple strike.
Dragonite(): does not possess tail sweetspots and wing hitboxes are slightly smaller, but moves using other body parts are slightly stronger. Flame effects are replaced or removed: Neutral B is now Dragon Breath and has an aura effect, Side B is the custom Smash 4 move Dragon Rush(hits multiple times) and has Rock Smash for its Down B. Final Smash is Draco Meteor which works similarly to Ness's and Lucas's Final Smashes.
Hitmonchan(): pretty much the same but given Electric and Ice effects in some moves alongside the existing flame ones to represent the other Elemental Punches. Final Smash is All-Out Pummeling, needing to connect the first hit to trigger it ala Little Mac's but sends out a giant projectile at the end that can hit other players.

I like these ideas but Little Mac's echo should be Doc Louis tbh. After all, they're always together and he learned his moves from Doc.

I honestly feel like all three of them manage to represent different parts of SEGA and their history, very well...

• Sonic, of course is the mascot of SEGA, and one of the biggest faces in gaming, but also represents SEGA's console days. Most notably the 16 bit console wars between the Mega Drive/Genesis and the SNES
• Bayo represents SEGA, post Dreamcast, when they decided to go full third party, and experimented with several different tittles, including Bayonetta
• And finally, Joker represents the Atlus branch of SEGA. SEGA acquired Atlus a couple years ago, and with it, they got their franchises, too. Most notably, Shin Megamia Tensei and Persona, very notable names in the JRPG genre.
