Except "closest...to a secondary mascot" isn't necessarily notable. Yoshi is the one who takes center stage in each game going back to the 90s, with other characters only appearing every now and again. Sure, Poochy was a main character in one Yoshi game, but that's one out of four within the last two console generations, and 12 in total. Sure, Poochy is "the closest the Yoshi games have to a secondary mascot," but the gap between him and Yoshi in terms of prominence within the series is incredibly wide.

Other characters aren't in the game that are more prominent within their series, such as Bandana Dee, Dixie Kong, and Rex & Pyra. Other prominent Nintendo series aren't even in the game in a notable form, like Rhythm Heaven and Style Savvy. This isn't even mentioning popular exclusions, such as Geno, Banjo & Kazooie, and Isaac, or third party series, which have the most potential to generate hype and sales and of which there are many to choose from at this point. When you have all of these different choices that are all notable, representative of something new, popular, or some combination of the three, choosing Poochy instead just doesn't make sense. This is especially true in regards to DLC, where characters either need to be incredibly popular or promotional to drive sales in a meaningful way. Poochy just can't keep up in those regards.

I don't really think it's rude to express what I consider to be a valid opinion. Sure, I might've come off as rude, but you have a right to your opinion and I have a right to disagree with said opinion. I get you're passionate about Poochy, and power to you for that. I just don't think he's likely nor do I think he'd be a good choice for DLC from a business perspective.

Poochy in base game is a different story. While I wouldn't be excited, I wouldn't really be disappointed either. I'd be more perplexed than anything else, but excited nonetheless.

DLC is time for the big guns. Poochy is not the big guns.

Okay, while I understand your reasoning to be selective with what you see as the "big guns" of DLC, the reason I called it rude was the post of mine you chose to respond to and how you responded to it. All I said was that "Poochy was all I needed" and you bluntly said "No." without any solicitation or context. You have your reasons for not wanting Poochy, but you basically imposed that standard onto me and I find that rude. Notice I didn't respond to your rating of Poochy the other day? It's because I chose to pick my battles elsewhere.

And as for the "prominence in their series" argument, Poochy has been gaining significance each installment, which could also be said of the likes of Bandana Dee which you listed. If that standard worked for him it would for Poochy as well.

I'm sorry, but it kinda seemed like your singling out Poochy was somewhat directed at me, so I had to defend myself.

Truth be told, I don't know if we'll ever see Yoshi get a buddy to rep his series with him. It's just really hard to make a case for Poochy, Kamek, or any other Yoshi character when they're stacked against so many seemingly more important, more unique characters. Maybe Yoshi will see better luck in the distant future now that most of our options have been exhausted. For now though, I don't think any of his friends will be prioritized over fan favorites, third-parties, and the always reliable Pokémon and FE reps that come and go.

Baby Bowser? Probably not. Kamek. Eh, maybe. Poochy? Absolutely. Yes, prominence does factor in (sometimes), but I think the dog has overcome that hurdle with Good Feel at the helm of the Yoshi games...

See, the problem with that, is like, every character has moves they can theoretically do and interesting methods of showing off said moves.

If everyone collectively tried to think of the most boring character inclusion we could, there would still be people saying that they have gameplay potential.

I have selected the second set of 12 characters. I might have missed a person or two, but worry not. I'll just make another list in the future. I would like to make a special mention out of SneakyLink and Lollipopped in particular. Although you two have expressed being Assist/background characters at most, I actually have methods of subverting this that the both of you will see. I ask that you trust in me to not disappoint. If I manage to do that anyway, I'll strut along like Pac-Man like the Assists you two choose to be :^)
