Oh, don't get me wrong. "Moveset potential" definitely isn't Waluigi's issue, but he does have detractors. Namely, the people who go on and on about pretending to care about Sakurai's feelings when he was "attacked" by "legions of Waluigi fans," which amounted to literally one guy and his friend tweeting a Waluigi-themed 9/11 meme at Sakurai. Those two guys ended up becoming the scapegoats needed to discredit the Waluigi fanbase at large.

People love to pretend to care about something when they can pretend to be the better person because of it. If people already didn't like Waluigi, this was the fuel they needed to "claim the moral high ground." I couldn't tell you how many times I saw drivel like "I hope Waluigi never gets in since his fanbase is clearly full of delinquents" and things like that. It's funny, too, because they would say nothing about the Rayman fanbase, despite one guy on Smashboards literally threatening to kill Artsy Omni because of the Rayman hoax. But they didn't care because it wasn't highly publicized, so they gained nothing from pretending to care for the well-being of others.

I feel as if something similar happened here too.
I won't go into details, but I can say that it wasn't related to me.

That's the thing though. The Phazon/Phaze/Dark Samus storyline was ended, so either they'd have to bring that back in some capacity, or else the series title doesn't really make sense anymore right?

I mean, I'm well aware that keeping the marketable brand sub-series name makes financial sense for Nintendo regardless of the actual story, but I'm just hoping there's something to justify being a fourth chapter. Unless they plan to do a Star Wars and have a new trilogy that's tied to it but has its own arc?

It'll probably involve Sylux in some way. I just wonder how many people will get confused by who he his, given that Hunters is kind of forgotten about (which is a shame, as it's a really good handheld Metroid).

Yeah, same here. Moydow is pretty much the only user here that's consistently beaten me with the characters I main. It's been great practice for a lot of the swordies though, especially (he's one of the better ones I've seen).

Can't comment on @Shishœ, since I haven't faced her. But I'm really looking forward to a ditto w/ her one day (So I can prove who's the true cunning God of Death).

Welp I've lost to both of you, but I haven't played Shish's with my Zelda. So I'll get back to you when we have our next tourney match.

And yeah, Moydow beat up my Lucina in dittos for awhile. I appreciate getting to learn firsthand from someone much much better than I am with the character. You get away with things in quick play that don't work against someone with good knowledge of the character.

I mean, I lost plenty of matches against your Ridley too. :p I think I just need a lot more practice of that particular matchup, so I stop doing dumb **** like rolling directly into his down-smash. Anyway, if you or anyone else wants more practice, I'm usually free most evenings, so you can ask pretty much whenever.

I think Shish with Ridley is on a similar level to me with Lucina/Marth. She'd probably tell you she's better than me, but she'd be lying. :p I don't know Ridley well enough to guess at how a match between you two would go, but I'd say you'd be reasonably evenly matched.

Personally, I think neither work as "the new Ridley" or "the new K. Rool".

Ridley was a hot topic for debate over the years, as many people questioned whether or not a character of his size and build could actually work in a game like Smash. Neither Waluigi or Isaac have that same level of questioning. No one is denying that either could work in Smash, and the only reasonable complication unique to only them that they could face is a lack of moveset potential, something Sakurai's demonstrated time and time again that he can overcome if he really wants to.

K. Rool is less of a long shot, but it's still not a solid comparison for either Waluigi or Isaac. Donkey Kong (the franchise) is an extremely iconic property, and many felt as if it was long overdue for a third character. Super Mario is also iconic, but no one is complaining about underrepresentation (if anything, people think it's overrepped). Unless I'm missing another variable here, Waluigi supporters have no other incentive to specifically push for him aside from getting someone they like in Smash. Now Golden Sun is a series that people would love to see get more representation, but it's far from iconic. Unlike K. Rool whose support was far more broad, Isaac supporters are mostly limited to those who are familiar with his series and those who are rooting for another entry. He lacks name recognition, and I feel like that holds him back quite a bit more than K. Rool.

Don't quite get why that image highlights Waluigi's lack of moveset potential (which has never been a problem): surely the main argument used against him is his relative lack of importance to the wider Mario series? Which would very much not make him the new Ridley, as Ridley's importance to Metroid is indisputable.

Yeah... that’s a bit unfair.

Only real downside to the move is it’s got a bit of startup. Hence why I opt for D Smash more (since it is one of the most powerful down smashes in the entire game).
