Although when talking about big RPG series, why does nobody ever mention Ys? The series had a heavy hand in pioneering the RPG genre, has been running since 1987, has 8 mainline entries excluding spin-offs, and has been on many Nintendo consoles. Feels like it should be a bigger name y’know.

Most would represent the most well known characters, like Pikachu, Charizard, Mewtwo. While others would represent more recent games, like Lucario or Greninja.

Okay, hear me out. What if the Gen 1 trainer was playable? But you don't really play as him, you instead play his entire team, and his playstyle revolved around you counterpicking and switching to get your best advantage, making him extremely accurate to the games as well as making him unique?

I'm not sure myself, but all I'm looking at for right now is the "Joker is in. Mementos is a stage. Jack Frost appears with a skill. Erdrick is in. XXXXX is his stage(Forgot). Slime appears with a skill."


AFAIK, this leak came before the datamining of Joker/Brave, so if it really is Erdrick = Brave, then.... interesting.

Here's my guess who they would add if they had 10 of the things.

Clefairy, for almost being the mascot.
Hitmonlee, due to being able to be easily modeled after

Lugia, as a hugely popular legendary, especially around Melee's era.

Clefable, as an easy Clefairy clone.

Cyndaquil, Bayleef, and Feraligatr, to represent the starters.

Gardevoir, as a very popular Pokemon from a game between Melee and Brawl.

Delphox, as a very notable starter from Kalos

and Decidueye, as he would use a mostly unrepresented archetype in Smash, being the Archer.

Well I don't know much about Wario, so I can't exactly compare the two. All I can say is that my boi is a great whiff punisher with the best aerial game in Smash. But honestly, if you're not sure about picking Yoshi up, try him out for a few matches

At this point, when the Smash Direct happens in March/April, I'm going all in on Brave getting shown off and probably released at the same time as Joker.


It's been in development since day 1, and we've seen in the past that multi-releases are very common(Lucas, Roy, Ryu), (Corrin, Bayo).


If 3.0 is going to be the game's biggest update, I'm going all in on a dual character release, that way they can drop a 'big' bomb at E3.
