There are arguments to be made for both sides of the discussion as to whether Touhou or Minecraft are the bigger indie franchise.

(And then Cave Story comes along and disrupts the whole discourse).

Oh I didn't. I'm in the middle of my TP:HD playthough now. I was being facetious.

My Wii U is still hooked up and I love it. But I have increasingly less reason to play it with no Miiverse and Splatoon 2/SMM2/MK8D/Ultimate/etc. making their old versions obsolete. It's kind of unprecedented how a console just straight up rips all the good stuff off the last console.

The only ones I can think of are the Game Boy Colour, Game Boy Advance and the Playstation 2.

Possibly also the XBox 360.

If a leak seems too good to be true, by which I mean it has characters like Crono, Agumon, Banjo & Kazooie, etc I automatically discredit it, especially if there’s more than one such character on it

I was wondering about Super Mario Maker 2 and what they could add... the All-Star/GBA variants of Mario 1 and 2 are definitely possible as game skins (they'd need new assets for the stuff that was new to Mario Maker but that's not impossible), and something I would push for.

So, main point, would Donkey Kong '94, Super Mario Land 2 and Wario Land work as game skins?

I’m pretty sure Mario Maker is restricted to games that use the classic power up health system (mushroom / fire flower / ect. as health) so, of those GB games, only Land 2 would work.

I might still keep my Wii U for longer even if Xenoblade X gets ported. It’s where I have Homebrew Channel on vWii and I can load Wii and GC ISOs since I feel a bit iffy playing Wii games on Dolphin and idk if my pc can run the upscaling for GC games. It was hell as it was trying to upscale in PCSX2...

I saw the debate of whether it's best if something's kept a surprise or not. It really depends, Though in the case of Smash characters, I'd rather know it right away, they're selling me a season pass after all. I feel sorry for those that bought a Wii U to be honest. It pretty much is a dead console now that the Switch is out, I'd argue it was dead long before then, but whatever.

Dude, that's like saying you don't need a Pikmin game on Switch because Smash has Olimar and a Pikmin stage.

Well, it's not just ports.

The GBC, GBA, PS2 and XB360 (I think) are all straight-up backward compatible with the old games.

If you have a PS2, there is literally no reason to have a PS1 unless you're a collector or you want the original experience (the PS2 increases load times of PS1 games on the whole, making for a better experience).

Same with the GBC and later the GBA.

The Wii also obsoleted the Gamecube, since it had the Gamecube ports. But the Wii U didn't obsolete the Wii, because it lacked those ports and was incompatible with Gamecube games.

Too be fair, I don't think anyone expected Nintendo to not do anything major with the console until almost a year after the launch, and then just pull the plug after Mario Maker (lets be real, the game still feels like an unfinished project), and then just port or make sequels to all of it's major titles off the bat with their new console.

Technically, it isn’t 100% dead:
The last Shovel Knight DLC is still coming out for it, so, if you’re like me and that’s the only version of SK you own, you have that to look forward to.

Yeah, but without Verge, Erdrick wouldn't have been as talked up as he has been lately. Also, he wouldn't have dominated speculation as much as he did up until that last direct. It was needlessly annoying.

Did Verge even 100% say the VGA awards would be Erdrick?

Also, whether or not he's talked about is pretty meaningless to whether or not he's in. Speculation doesn't affect who's chosen, especially when DLC was most likely 100% locked down by December. DQ is a national phenomenon in Japan, if another SE character is coming, DQ most likely has top billing, especially with its heavy presence on Switch this year.

That's why I said partially. 3D World is my favorite Wii U game outside of Smash, and the only Wii U game I played 100% off.

But if you bought the game for its artistic style or the Super Bell gameplay, that's now covered (in part) by Mario Maker 2.

It doesn't make it completely invalid, but it may give people less reasons to buy it.

I would argue that Isabelle vs. Incineroar is worse, because either Isabelle dies in like 5 hits, or Incineroar gets camped out for the entire game.

Personally, the hardest matchup I've had was vs .
It's not super volatile/polarizing, but can be ****ing annoying to deal w/ sometimes.
