I'm sorrry, but it's true! And with Sent's health nerf, I will assure you that now THOR will get more usage as a training mode dummy!

Also what's a Kara throw.
Fine, I shall accept your apology. :glare:
There is. What's your GameBattles name? I just lost my first match 1-2, but the guy was pretty nice, so I did some friendlies afterward. Not counting the ladder matches, I won 7 times and lost 8. His Wesker was insane, though he did appreciate my Phoenix. Especially after she annihilated his Spencer on point.

Block the real Morrigan.

What about it are you having problems with exactly? Getting rushed down or getting zoned?

At what exactly?
Getting rushed down. I'm starting to get the combos down in this game but my blocking is still terrible.

I guess for some reason I thought the doppleganger Morrigan could hit you from behind too. So I just need to worry about blocking the real Morrigan?

Thanks for the responses and help guys.

Oh ok.

Darkness Illusion doesn't give any of her other moves special properties in terms of start up, invincibility, frame advantage on block, or whatever, and you can't "desynch" her clone to create unblockables or advanced mixups, so just focus on blocking the real Morrigan.

I play a very, very defensive Morrigan and I don't have my PS3 with me right now to practice or test things, so I can't give you much more advice than that. Not that you really need it - Morrigan's mixups aren't that bad but they aren't anything phenomenal and Dark Illusion doesn't change much.

are there any characters with projectiles in an up-forward trajectory? just wondering cuz the down forward trajectory from the air seems very strong.

Morrigan has a projectile that goes diagonally up. It's quite good for catching people who try to super jump over her flyreball spam.

Taskmaster does, if I remember right. I think it's QCF+H (maybe M). But it goes in an arc, so it doesn't just travel at "2/10 o'clock"

I believe Taskmaster can shoot his arrows in an up-ward forwards direction.

If you're just looking for any move that hits high vertically then you should have said so.

Yes, Dormammu's Purification, Doom's Hidden Missiles, and Dantes' not-Captain Corridor all hit above them a long way. Viper's Seismic Hammer also hits pretty high, though I'm not sure it'll hit super jumping characters. Doom's Missiles are probably best since they track, but Phoenix can teleport so they won't be THAT useful.

Thanks for the help Serris. Storm is working out pretty well, and Dormammu is playing his part well. I just need to work on my teleport game with Dormmamu and take advantage of his 8-way airdash. I am getting better with Haggar. I just need consistency
Good to hear. I hope to have some interesting matches with you in the future. Haggar is a problem for Phoenix, and I want to practice against him as much as I can.

Can't you just zone the **** out of Haggar? I'm pretty sure if you just play keep away and fly away from him you won't have anything to worry about. If you're teleporting into him then I understand since he can Lariat you and you'll be dead, but just don't do that and you should be ok. If you want to punish him on the ground, pushblock him and punish with your slide into a combo.

Dark Phoenix also has a decent corner pseudo-trap with her c.H xx QCF M. If you do it fast enough, the feathers and fireballs combined should be enough to do some serious chip. I never really messed around with this too much though, so it may not be the most efficent way to chip someone out in the corner with feathers, but you may want to look into it anyway.

Generally though against Haggar:

1. Get out of Pipe range.
2. Zone him.
3. Use fireballs, traps, feathers, etc. to chip.

Be careful though, Haggar can't control it either.

That's the thing. I generally play rushdown with Phoenix, which works well on almost everyone except Haggar.
So you're saying that you may actually have to CHANGE YOUR PLAYSTYLE DEPENDING ON CHARACTER MATCHUPS? That's never happened ever in any fighting game before and I can see why you would be hesitant to. In fact, you probably shouldn't use Phoenix against Haggar at all. Once he comes out, just put your controller down and leave.

Seriously, you need to decide what you like more - rushing down or winning. Because in this matchup, that's what it comes down to. Haggar is NOT good against Phoenix, you're just playing the matchup wrong.

Then don't play rushdown against Haggar.

Seriously, it's that simple. You think I play rushdown when I have Dorm on point? >_>

Smooth Criminal
You put Dorm on point?

ALTERNATE JOKE: You mean you don't use that amazing 8-way air dash with teleport mixups and flight to make it rain on *****es?

You're out of your goddamn mind if you think I rush people down with Dorm. I'm more comfortable with sitting back and waiting for an opening. That's like one of the cardinal precepts behind zoning and footsies, which is what my team (Deadpool/Dormmamu/MODOK) is all about. Not saying that that sort of thing isn't important for rushing down ("herp derp there's no way Jwong doesn't include that kinda stuff in his MvC3 matches!"), but it is just paramount when you have a team of characters that are better equipped to spam **** from a distance and keep somebody off of you.

I'm not saying Serris should stop playing Phoenix against Haggar or anything like that, either. Gates got it right:

1. I am a flaming butt pirate.

2. Zone me anytime.

3. Chips, anyone?
...

Wait. That's not what he said at all, but yeah, what Gates actually said is accurate.

Sometimes you just have to do what's best with what you got (if you settle on it) rather than what you wanna do.

Edit: I do, Gates, but I'm really cautious when I play. If I still had my PS3 and a copy of MvC3, I'd show you what I mean. Sometimes I actually put Dorm on point, but most of the time it's Deadpool.

I'm not a pirate.

And I would love some chips, thank you.

I doubt anyone actually thought that.

idk, Dorm CAN be good on point, especially with Doom and Sentinel assists, but I think his real strength is in how DHC friendly he is. Even though he's obviously a huge scrub at Marvel, I like Gootecks' team of Wolverine/Dormammu/Sent since the combo ender of Fatal Claw DHC Floating Bomb does a good amount of damage (and you can tack on even more damage and meter by complementing the bomb with Purifications, but Gootecks probably doesn't know that because sometimes I think he just gets distracted by MvC3's particle effects or something while he's playing). That's just one example, with the beam super there's even more options available.

Here's a little something to make everyone a little less moody.
Great, now instead of just being moody I'm moody and hungry. Thanks.

Haggar is basically made to destroy rushdown characters.

Against anyone else he's *** tho.

I've seen some vids of the game. Is Vjoe any good? He seems to be lacking in range compared to everyone else.

Just switch things up whenever keepaway benefits you. You could've beaten my Tron before if you just played keepaway whenever I had 3 meters and X Factor. Level 3 XF as Dark Phoenix takes down an opponent pretty fast, so it's not like you'll have to play keepaway for so long.

I've seen very little decent V.Joe users. Finding people who main him are extremely rare. He's not terrible though. Since he's a shorter character, a lot of basic combos don't work on him.

Savon's She-Hulk is Amnesia scary when she's juiced up on level 3 X-Factor. Man, your Dormammu has gotten way better. Just be sure to feed him up to level 3, use the anti-air assist to prevent approaches, and limit Arthur's meter usage.

Fo shizzle. I am totally convinced that if I end up fighting your DP the fight is over at that point.

What did you think of that trick where I would use She-Hulks level 3 the moment you came in and got kills? Do you think that it is effective to use in fights?

Either way your rushdown team is getting better and better and that scares the hell out of me

WELCOME... TO MY REALM!

You stomped X-23 and Wolverine within 12 seconds, and Wolverine was the character She-Hulk had the most problems getting around. If that isn't effective, I don't know what is.

Either way your rushdown team is getting better and better and that scares the hell out of me
What did you think of that assist set-up I had going those last few rounds? I think I'm onto something.

Those fireballs? Man that crap started to scare me. I was like "wait a sec this is new. You are rushdown not fireballs!!! ******!!!" That is what went through my head. It seems pretty viable. I would suggest you test it out more, but be careful man. It just takes 1 chaotic flame or full screen hyper to take away Phoenix

True, but it certainly made approaching Arthur with X-23 a lot easier at the beginning of the match. My entire team is a glass cannon. I can still function if Wolverine's the last one alive, but with X-23, it's an uphill battle.

Obviously Arthur's hitbox is so small that Serris was dropping combos on him.

EDIT: Wow, Yipes has been curling his mustache.

GUYS, remember that I played Magz Wesker before him so people won't call me a hop on. >____________________________________>

Anyways, Yipes gives me hope, because I never play this game.
