Dragon (Game & Watch/Zelda)

The dragon is rendered in the same way as Mr. G&W, and is very big. It flies around and has two methods of attack - a tail stab and a fireball. It can shoot fireballs in two different positions, but never both at the same time (though these positions are altered to be forwards rather than downwards to better fit the fast paced gameplay). This character represents one of the most overlooked parts of both G&W and Zelda history. G&W Zelda, despite its obscurity, is often regarded for being highly advanced given the tech.

Piano (Bubsy)

The piano isn't exactly a "mini-boss", however it is a notably frustrating enemy - so if Lurchthorn, which isn't really hard to beat as much as tedious, counts, so does the piano. When walking up to sloped ground there is the random chance for the piano to slide by, making off-tune notes as it slides. You have barely any time to react and will be sent flying with a brutal 37% damage. Attacking the piano just once with even the weakest move will make it burst into some of the best stat boosts you can get in the entire mode - of course, it's doubtful you'll be able to as it disappears quickly after spawning. Bubsy is a well known series, for better or for worse, and has a big fanbase, even if most of it is ironic. Expanding it's representation beyond a Spirit but not with a stage or fighter seems appropriate for a series with such infamy.

I'll try to get my first party rep in later. In the meantime...
A first party series not repped by a character but is present in Smash: King Golem (Miitopia)

The King Golem would be my second (in this case, first) miniboss submission. A gimmick with this miniboss is that the face will be different every time, using a male mii in the Mii Maker (If no mii, then default mii). This miniboss deserves to get in because it is one of the bosses in Miitopia that was featured in advertising a lot. The King Golem would be slow, but hits hard. The King Golem can perform a slow punch forwards, which can launch to the legnth of halfway across Final Destination at low percents. The King Golem can also punch the ground, causing the ground to spike up (use the Minotaur boss fight in Miitopia for reference). Once defeated, the King Golem's limbs would fall off, causing the face on the golem to fly away while saying "Are We Alive?"

Job 103

First Party Rep with Character:

Viruses (Dr. Mario World)

3 Appear at once, Each a different Color. All viruses have the same 3 hit combo attack and a powerful stomp attack like Bowser's Down-B, The individual colors have 1 unique attack each.

Red: They can turn into a fireball in a fashion similar to Kirby's Dash Attack
Blue: They have Dr. Mario's Pill attack only much stronger but slower and can stun.
Yellow: They have a more Powerful version of Wario's Bite attack
Green: They charge up a cloud of poison and then release it like Plant's Side-B
Pink: They shoot a version of Hero's Wack attack from their mouth
Light Blue: They have a more powerful version of Rising tackle that uses their head.

Third Party Rep With character:

Redstone Golem (Minecraft Dungeons)

This Mini-boss is from Minecraft Dungeons and it has 3 attacks all taken from the game, and it has a lot of health.

Charge: It charges forwards dealing damage
Arm Swipe: It swipes it's arms horizontally, dealing a lot of Damage and knocking back a fair bit
Golem Mines: It slams it's arms into the ground dealing damage and then it spawns a handful of Explosive Mines around the area.

Job #80 New Enemy: Mars People

Hailing from the Metal Slug Series, the Mars People make their Smash Infinite Debut as a Smash Dungeon enemy. Now, the prompt clarified that the enemy must be represented by a fighter, however out of a technicality, the Mars People are indeed repped by a fighter. Currently, there are 5 Metal Slug tracks within Smash Ultimate. And where are these songs placed? The Fatal Fury section. Boom. Terry reps the Mars people. (Plus there aren’t really any grunts from Fatal Fury so other SNK series grunts will have to rep Terry similarly to how Pooka repped Pac-Man in Smash run). With that out of the way let's get into how the Mars People would function as enemies.

The Mars people will enter the screen via their mini-UFO before getting out and attacking the player. If you get to the UFO fast enough and deal enough damage it will explode, defeating the Mars People before they are able to get any attacks off.
Once out of their mini-UFO, they will attack using their laser orb blaster, which travels slowly but does hefty amounts of damage, around 7% per orb, for a total of 28% if all four orbs from one round lands. Their movement is quite limited, as they can only walk around at a small pace, however they can make large bounds to travel distances if need be.
The Mars People come in four different appearances. The Standard, Party, and Female versions are all cosmetic differences, however the Neo Mars people (the purple one) are slightly stronger. The base Mars People have 15 HP, whereas the Neo Mars people have 30 HP. In addition, the Neo Mars people will deal more damage with each blaster shot, at 10% damage per shot, for a total of 40% damage if all of the hits connect.

If left alone long enough the Martian will summon more Martians via their trusty flip phone, so take them out quickly before you get swarmed!
When defeated, the Mars People will play a death animation similar to the one found in their home series.

Job #80 Returning Enemy: Polar Bear

The Polar Bear from the Ice Climber series makes its return as an enemy. Despite Ice Climbers being cut in Smash 4, the Polar Bear enemy was still present in Smash Run, showing his importance. He was one of four Smash Run enemies to not be represented by a fighter, alongside Pooka, Bacura, and Sneaky Spirit. His appearance would still be in 3D and he would function identically to his Smash Run incarnation.
Polar Bear has already been added.

Smash Dungeon Mini Bosses
From a first party franchise repped by a character:
1620959109857.png

Noivern is a Flying/Dragon type bat Pokemon introduced in X and Y. It's known for its swift flight, skill at fighting in the dark, and ability to unleash powerful soundwaves via its loudspeaker-shaped ears.

Why should it be added? It's a DRACONIC BAT that incorporates bats' echolocation is a really cool way, why else? It's large, intimidating, and strong enough to be a believable threat, but not to the degree of a Legendary Pokemon that would be better served as a full boss.

In combat, Noivern would use Boomburst, launching soundwaves from its loudspeaker-ears that could deal damage and/or stun fighters like Rathalos's roar. It could also use Dragon Pulse (laser breath), Wing Attack (slashing with its wings), or Air Cutter (wind projectile). If you wanted to get creative, you could have it use Tailwind to boost the speed of itself and any regular enemies around it.

From a third party franchise not repped by a character (yet?):
1620960084205.png

Hear me out.

Temmie is a "special enemy" from Undertale, appearing as a fight only once despite being a random encounter like regular enemies. Temmies do, however, appear outside of battle in Temmie Village. Many Undertale fans have become charmed by the Temmies' disjointed speech and goofy antics.

Temmie would be a fun mini-boss just for the shock and humor value. Adding an Undertale mini-boss at all would turn heads, but Temmie in particular is so zany that she could just be a laugh riot.

Temmie could attack by dashing straight at the fighter (I could buy this also having some bonus effect), by stretching out her legs really far to smack them, by throwing torn pieces of construction paper (Temmie Flakes), or summoning other Temmies to fly across the screen. (Heck, if you wanted, you could come up with way more out-there and nonsensical ideas; Temmie could probably make ANYTHING work.)

NOTE: Temmie the character is explicitly an avatar/mascot of sorts for Temmie Chang, an artist for Undertale. If this tie to a real-life person is grounds to make Temmie ineligible, let me know and I'll either come up with another mini-boss or just abstain from this second half.

Third Party Miniboss
Khezu
Monster Hunter
With Rathian as a boss I belive this creature should be elligable as well

The Khezu is a wyvern that likes to live in cold underground areas, it's totally blind and hunts by smell, as a result I didn't directly attack so that would be a unique niche that most smash run enemies dont have

Being blind it will attack anyone that moves in its vicinity, including other smash run enemies so it has potential as a good unitentional enemy clearer

Khezu has a good mix of physical and electric attacks, all of the attacks are somewhat easy to avoid since it can see its target but they hit hard

These include

Tunder balls that can be shot in front, behind, or an upward diagonal angle

An electric field that covers its body while walking

Eating enemies whole to heal itself

Using its mouth to grapple enemies a throw them as a projectile

Khezu is also a good wall clinger using its suction cup tail to grapple on ceilings where it can sneak attack potential prey or drop bolts of lightning

As a reference to its orgin game, when you fight Khezu no music cant be heard except for the sound effects of you and the enemies

Their is a 1 in 5 chance where it spawns as a more powerful Red Khezu who has stronger lighting based attacks

Overall a complex enemy that fills a niche bot many enemies fill as a blind enemy and combine that with it being a somewhat iconic monster and adding some horror into smash run I dont see why you shouldnt add this

Their is also the matter of First Party Minibosses, well...

Lynel (Botw)
It's THE zelda miniboss no a days, so it should also have a place in smash run

Lynels are know for having multible dfferent colors and weapons giving them loads of adaptability, the moveset of the Lynel will be detemines by the color and weapon of the Lynel

Red Lynels are basic and have the least hp

Blue Lynels have more hp than the red and are faster

Black Lynels have access to a paralyzing roar move and are stronger than the blue ones

Silver Lynels have access to a explosive feild alongside the paralyzing roar move andnare stonger than the silver ones

Gold Lynels are the rarest and have self regenerating hp as a passive abilty

Lynels also have access to three different weapon types, sword and sheild, bow, and club each with a different moveset

A Sword Lynel prioritises movement options like big slashing leaps and tornado spin attacks

A Bow Lynel has access to arrows, he can use said arrows to rain bullets on the battle field, this Lynel also uses some diversionary tactics like backjumps and big leaps

Club Lynels are the slowest but strongest being able to hit big knockback with their clubs, K O ing in 5 hits or less if you suck in smash

Also all Lynels have a chance to have elemental abilities like burning fire, paralyzing lightning, and freezing ice

With so many combinations of attacks and abilities Lynels best represent the type of stuff pro BOTW players can do, this combined with their iconography in the minds of recent zelda players and he should be in smash

First Party Miniboss: Living Statue (Golden Sun)

HydrosStatueSS.png

Following the lighting of the Mercury Lighthouse, the mining town of Altin found that its guardian statues had suddenly come to life. These "hydros guardians" as they were known began to spew endless quantities of foul smelling water, severely flooding the town and disrupting the economy. As Isaac's party is forced to take a detour through this flooded town, they fight and return the town back to normal after defeating the large Hydros Statue boss.

The Living Statue (pictured is the Hydros Statue but the only aesthetic difference is size and color) is a series of scripted minibosses that appear in Altin Mines. In Smash, their high resistance to every type of psynergy would translate to a durability against projectiles except those that have fire attributes, such as Snake's or Bowser's. This would mean that the player would have to take these out from up close with physical attacks.

The Living Statue is capable of using 3 attacks, pulled directly from Golden Sun:

Attack: A Mercury (water) aligned physical attack, the Living Statue would charge and physically attack the player. The attack has a low chance of freezing (around 3%).

Tundra: The Living Statue will drop large shards of ice from above that will freeze the player if hit.

Water Blessing: The Living Statue will spew a gaseous yet watery substance at the player. This attack won't deal knockback, but its shield damage is high.

The Hydros Statue is capable of many other attacks, so if we feel as if the Living Statue needs more, we can pull from there. Minibosses in Smash Run tend to have only a few attacks, so I believe that these 3 are enough.

Third Party Mini-Boss with Fighter

HUGO & POISON
Final Fight/Street Fighter

Both Poison and Hugo hails from the Final Fight series as a part of the evil Mad Gear Gang who seize control of all location in Metro City, the main setting of the Final Fight games, in the story of Street Fighter, which has been stated is a continuation of the story from Final Fight, Poison has taken a job as wrestling manager who recruits Hugo and offer to be his partner and manage him to be the greatest wrestler in the world.

While Poison herself in the original game is just a common thug Hugo on the other hand, along with his family has been the series' staple mini-boss so their role in Smash Run will be perfect for them to relive their lives as a gang member and a good call back to the forgotten Final Fight series.

Their attacks in Smash Run is directly lifted from their appearance in Street Fighter which adapt their basic attack from their home series and revised them to fit the fighting game mold and make it more flashy. If you couldn't tell both of them is the mini-boss and act separately, Hugo will mostly be the one who do damage rushing towards you head on and try to keep you away from Poison at all cost who also can attack you if you get too close.
Neck Hanging Three -----> Body Slam

To references his role as a grappler both in the world of FF and SF all of his attack mostly composed of grabs and throw. In here this move is your standard grab and pummel where Hugo lift you up in the air and choke you by the neck with his enormous hand. This move is followed by a body slam
if you fail to mash your way out
Giant Palm Bomber

This move is really devastating, while it had a long start up animation and not so great distance leaving him vulnerable, this move could easily break your shield and a high damage output along with a super armor
Moonsault Press

One of two Hugo's command grab where he perform a piledrive upward before slamming you down with his body weight ala K Rool and Incineroar's Down Smash
Meat Squasher

Another one of Hugo's command grab which is reference to a cutscene from Final Fight where he ambush the main hero and forcefully brought them into a wrestling ring, in this Hugo grab you similar to his normal grab but instead of a pummel he will run while dragging you with until he hit a wall, this move will not end until he hit a corner so be sure to mash as quickly as possible.

First party miniboss from a series that has a character in Smash:
Masked Muscle (Punch-Out)
32EE0AC3-722D-4F78-8CA8-717586148074.jpeg

Masked Muscle (マスクド・マッスル Masukudo Massuru) made his only appearance in the SNES version of Super Punch-Out!! as the third boxer in the Major Circuit. He appears to be a luchador as well as a boxer.

In the SNES version of Super Punch-Out!!, he cheats by spitting in the eyes of his opponent to blind him for a short time but the attack is fairly easy to avoid (see his cornerman say "Spit in his eyes") and opens him for an attack. He also headbutts his opponent with a great deal of force (also cheating). He shouts "Adios!" when he wins by KO. If you run out of time, he will spit twice at your direction.

Third party miniboss from a series that has a character in Smash:
Toc-Man (Pac-Man)
6BA67C90-4C30-41EE-A00F-2B72A56FB38C.png

Toc-Man serves as the main antagonist in Pac-Man World. He sends various minions to kidnap Pac-Man's family and friends on Pac-Man's 20th birthday and has his henchmen hold them hostage in various locations throughout Ghost Island. In the game, Toc-Man is not encountered until the very end of the game, Toc-Man's Lair, where he serves as the final boss.
After Toc-Man is defeated, it is revealed that he was a robot being piloted by Orson, a ghost that was jealous of Pac-Man's popularity. Pac-Man ends up eating a Power Pellet and chomps Orson shortly after Toc-Man's defeat.

Those both seem more like regular bosses than mini-bosses. I do love the idea of including Toc-Man in some form though.

I guess Toc-Man would work better as a regular boss, but I see Masked Muscle as a miniboss who attacks by punching, headbutting, and spitting.

While we submit mini-bosses, we drafted up a survey for our thread regulars to take to gauge their feelings to the thread. Feel free to take it so we can get an idea where everyone is at regarding the thread and the process

I stopped getting notifications from this thread for some reason, that's why I was gone for a few days. After catching back up, quick question: let's say Temmie wins. That won't disconfirm a future Undertale rep, right?

Mini Boss Job: Boom Boom & Pom Pom
E79CB11E-DEB0-4649-BD54-49B1FE401412.png

Simply put, Boom Boom (and the koopalings but they’re already playable) may just be one of the most recognizable midbosses. With a track record ranging from the NES with SMB3, to the Switch with 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, and Boom Boom in Tennis aces, and Pom Pom in Super Mario Party, they have earned a spot in smash. They would attack like in their base game, with Boom Boom swinging his arms around and jumping, and Pom Pom throwing her Ninja star and creating illusions. They could appear individually or as a pair depending on the function or need of the dungeon.

Mini Boss Job: Tyrant (T-103)

Idk, I’ve been told he slashes. So I guess he would slash with his big meaty claws.

Third Party (already represented) Miniboss - Disc Armor (Castlevania)

Discusslord-1-.gif

Disc Armor as it appears in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
The Disc Armor, also known as the Discus Lord, is an uncommon enemy that appears in many Castlevania games. One of the many variants of the armor enemy, these tend to appear alone in hallways and staircases in the series. Their main attack consists of throwing out the Disc on a chain, similar to a yo-yo. The Disc will stay suspended in the air, acting as an active hitbox that continually damages the player as they stand there. The armor is also capable of retracting the Disc.

In Smash, its function will remain the same, with 2 attacks.

Throw Disc: The Disc Armor will throw out its Disc, which will stay suspended for around 5 seconds before it is retracted. When the player makes contact with the disc, they will continually take damage, similarly to Corrin's FSmash. When the player is stuck in the Disc, they can tap the opposite direction to get out.

Death Disc: This is the same attack, but if the Armor dies in the middle of throwing out its Disc, the Disc will remain for slightly longer. The hitbox is still active and the player should avoid getting near it until it despawns.

Great Izuchi (Monster Hunter Rise)
1621035641240.png

The first of many monsters the player character faces in Monster Hunter: Rise, Great Izuchi are notoriously common, similar to Kulu Ya-Ku, but are much more dangerous - though still not on the level of even similarly leveled monsters. The Great Izuchi is fast and agile, and seems to have a telepathic connection to it's two chosen companions - just two regular 'ol Izuchi. The three tend to attack in unison, but if isolated by slaughtering it's brethren, the big boy isn't too defenseless.

Great Izuchi and it's two companions share the same attacks:
The first, and most basic, is a simple strike with it's claws forward. Minimal range, and doesn't deal much damage.
They can also strike forward at signifigantly greater range with their scythe-like tail, though if they miss, they tend to get the pointy end stuck in the ground. Poor thing!
They can attack with their claws while dashing forward.
They can also bite you for minimal damage.
Lastly, they can aggressively spin around thrice, wildly swinging their scythe-tail.

Like any Monster Hunter boss, once you've learned it's telegraphed tells, Great Izuchi becomes a trivial cakewalk to take down. Did I mention it's also notoriously weak to electric and water type weapons and moves? Something tells me Pikachu or Squirtle wouldn't have too much trouble tangling with this "bad" boy.

Job #104: Submit a Theme for a Standard Dungeon

We have submitted current series in Smash but we have yet to focus on particular standard themes that will be included. These include concepts like a fire dungeon, a fantastical forest Dungeon, and a dungeon based on an actual dungeon. When submitting, please include the theme name, it’s aesthetic, and what sort of traps or gimmicks it could potentially have. Also, if you would like, including some potential enemies that would appear would also help. Please only include enemies that are currently confirmed for Smash Dungeon.

Job 104

The City

This dungeon would be based on a city (duh) it would have a long street portion that extends to both ends and there are buildings in the back that you can enter that can take you to the roof, you can jump across rooftops and use the doors to return to street level.

The main traps here would be broken Fire Hydrants that can launch you in the air, Open Manholes that can take you into the sewer area which goes the same length as the street only more enemies spawn and you are slower you can exit the sewer by jumping through an open manhole. Cars would also drive up and down the street that can harm you.

Common Enemies that would appear in the city include:
The Cell
Motobug
Roader
Mars People
Shell Chimeras
Negative Man
Monoeye

Also, following this upcoming dungeon job, we will begin doing a job for our next newcomer who will be featured during the middle of the Direct Broadcast. I’m sure this character submission will draw in some heavy discussion and speculation. So something to look forward to.

Second:

Dungeon concept:
Party Dungeon
The party dungeon would include some of the more lighthearted enemies such as Koopa-Troopas, Goombas, Pookas, Mites, and Buzzbombs. They would be wearing party hats and it would be an easier dungeon for new players and experienced players who want to take a break from harder dungeons.

Job 104

The City

This dungeon would be based on a city (duh) it would have a long street portion that extends to both ends and the buildings in the back you can enter that can take you to the roof, you can jump across rooftops and use the doors to return to street level.

Negative Man
Monoeye
Funnily enough, I was considering a city for a submission. You did a much better job of conceptualising it than I could ever do though.

Please note
Each level is randomly generated with a variety of enemies found from a wide-range of universes.
It’s technically impossible to “take a break” as that goes against the idea of the mode and each dungeon is randomly generated. This was developed prior to yourself joining the thread so that’s understandable.

Addressing the thread,

Several levels have a general theme such as grasslands, mountains, beach, forest, or other more extreme ones like frozen wastelands, lava domes, and factories or high-tech metropolises. In addition, other levels are themes after universes such as Super Mario, Metroid, Splatoon, Castlevania, and Final Fantasy. Typically enemies from those franchises will appear in these levels but it’s not uncommon for enemies from other universes to appear. During play, certain tasks may be announced which can net higher rewards such as defeating a particular enemy, destroying a target, other like-minded tasks.
The mentioning of themes including universes is subject to change

Sorry about that. What I mean is that it could be in between few harder universes.

Smash Dungeon Generic Theme:

The Cathedral is a beautiful place. This ancient church may have fallen to ruin in some areas, but its lovely stone architecture and stained glass make it a calming place to be. It is a holy domain; most enemies you see here are either light-based, celestial in origin, or iron-clad warriors dedicated to protect it from dark forces. Potential hazards include collapsing pillars, statues that briefly come to life, ethereal blue flames, and scalding beams of light.

(I would have named it "Temple" but wanted to avoid confusion with the stage.)

Gonna sit out voting on the mini bosses since I'm fine with most of those tbh.

Job 104:
Fire World

This world will be full of everything fire. Fire blocks? Fire flowers? Lava? It's all there. Not sure which enemies would work here but any of them associated with fire would work, along with some references to fire areas in Smash, such as Bowsers castle area and Brinstar

Dungeon Theme

Neo Retro Haven

So this dungeon theme is quite dynamic, the level starts out with retro structures such as DK grinders and Pac Man maze segments acting as hallways alongside classic 8 bit references the enemies are:

Pooka
Goomba
Koopa
Duck

(Anything else that is retro and originated before the 90s)

But then

One hit by the future signpost will instantly switch it to a hustling future Metropolis featuring enemies originating from games after the 2000s, all the classic future elements are here, lasers, robots, and other crazy machinery, and you can switch back to it once you hit a past signpost

That's just my idea, something simple and dynamic at the same time

Apologies - if you can, please change your number one vote for the second category, because Toc-Man is your submission and you can't vote for that in the number one spot.
