Anyway I suggest that we aim to submit grappler type heavies. It's already a low represented archetype in fighting games and I don't know if Smash exactly has a true grappler? I'd say Smash's four truest grapplers are DK, Bowser, Ganondorf and Incineroar. Compare to the heaps of rushdowns and zoners and all the subarchetypes of each.

If it were up to me, I'd like to add another grappler over a heavy like Simon and Wario which are zoners and combo heavy characters respectively.

Ok, I've thought for a minuite and came up with some odder ideas.

Neither of them have the main character of their game in yet, but I think that's OK if we continue the approach started by Min Min and Pythra (more interesting side characters over the protagonist). The Dark Lord could use magic and create minions, and Dragux could do evil sports or something.

A grappler is a good suggestion but I feel like the choices for that is pretty slim.

I disagree, personally. All four grappplers you mentioned are heavyweights. Do we really need a fifth? I wouldn't mind adding another grappler if we were adding a mid or lightweight.

Holy hell, I would love the Dark Lord. However, he got in as an assist trophy, so I'm not sure if that deconfirms him.

I disagree with this, I know it's off topic but Pyra technically still count as a main character, just because you're not playing as them doesn't mean they are less important, I mean she's the central figure of the story and the reason why Rex is still alive and get hunted in the first place. She is THE Aegis afterall.

Plus, there's the whole "Rex would've been added if the Switch could've handled it" thing.

Yeah, pretty much they're the second best choice and they can literally pick Adam or Jin or something as the representation but no.

If Samus and Dark Samus are considered heavy weights, Sylux would be a good idea. Especially with Metroid Prime 4 coming out eventually.

Another villain that is a heavy weight is King Bob-omb. King Bob-omb is making a comeback and the Mario series could finally have another playable boss that isn’t Bowser or Junior.

This last potential heavy weight I could think of is Klump, King K. Rool’s general. More Donkey Kong Country and King K. Rool love to fans.

Let's just say if that anyone who where's a big suit of armor or big weapon is a heavyweight

Any large monster is a superheavy weight

Though when we go down to it some choices like Wolf Link can be a bit gray

Pyra is a main character, but not the main character. She's very important, but not number one to the game. Grovyle's in the same boat.

The term heavyweight is pretty diverse with light heavyweight between super heavyweight describing the weight class. Then you factor in a character that’s a heavyweight which focuses more on physical attacks or a character that is deceptively heavyweight. I feel Officer Howard feels more like a deceptive heavyweight while a character like King Hippo is your more standard heavyweight. Porky would be an unique and slightly wonky heavyweight. Or we can just give Kraid the Ridley treatment lol.

Anyways, this discussion will help us in forming the job submission and also possibly give people ideas on what sort of content they want to submit. We will be watching the discussion as well so please feel free to bring up some ideas concerning this upcoming newcomer.

I don't feel like King Bob-omb is a great pick(and to an extent Klump), for me at least, Nintendo isn't the type of person who pick him before Pauline who makes her grand return from Odyssey.

The character in your signature would be a good third party heavy >:3

Anyway some ideas for superheavies I had were King Boo and Porky.

For more humanoid heavies, you got Max Brass, Doc Louis, Black Knight and of course the best heavy option, Morshu.

I don't really know much about XB2 but didn't they put much emphasis on Rex and the Aegis relationship? I think they are in the same boat tbh, Grovyle is a bit odd considering he switches sides in the story all about the mcguffin. And what defined being the main character? Do they have to be playable?

Anyways, some ideas I thought up on the spot for heavyweights:
Impa (Warriors version due to the surfboard sword)
Daruk
Doc Louis
King Hippo
Andross
Master Hand
Funky Kong
King Boo
Mother Brain
Gonzales

I would prefer a super heavyweight, but thats really just a personal preference. A regular heavyweight could be fun too, but I think we should take this opportunity to put in a super heavyweight, since I think they have less of a chance under other prompts than a regular Heavyweight. That being said, I brainstormed a list of potential characters, not including Kirby or Pokemon characters.

King Bob-omb
King Hippo
Doc Louis
King Boo (Although he could be a heavy, I think he would be a lightweight akin to Sephiroth and Mewtwo)
Pig Ganon
DJ Octavio
Funky Kong (may work better as an echo)
Black Shadow
Porky
Black Knight
Hector
Hades (Kid Icarus)
Bulborb
Plasm Wraith
Andross
Fawful
Max Brass
Devil (Devil World)
Doshin the Giant
Shake King (Wario)
Wart
Wolf Link & Midna
Officer Howard
Mach Rider
Excite Biker
Edelgard
Kraid
Sylux
Samurai Goroh
Honorable Mention to Poochy, who got assisted.

not sure if all of these would work, but I threw them on the list anyway to spark discussion. My personal favorite is DJ Octavio, since I think he would have a really unique moveset, as well as Splatoon music being fire.

You support Wolf Link and Midna, nice that would be our first animalistic fighter if her wins

I would think the breadbug would be a cool fighter as well

I see King Boo as a heavyweight, as he is classified as a heavyweight in Mario Kart.
Rosalina actually shares a weight class with King Boo in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Light Cruiser class, and she's a lightweight in smash. Mewtwo, according to the pokedex anyway, is also 270 pounds, yet is a lightweight in smash. I think King Boo's spectral and floaty nature would harken more to a lightweight playstyle, than a heavy one, considering canonical information like weight is often overlooked in favor of playstyle.

Crap, I missed that. Thanks for the clarification!

He's a ghost though.

Ghosts generally don't have mass unless I'm missing a crucial part of Luigi's Mansion lore. Besides, it would be really weird to see a levitating being be heavy as heck.
I can clarify being a huge fan of LM3. In both 2 and 3, he has an attack where he leaps into the air and performs a ground pound that emits heavy shockwaves. Idk what he's made of but he's definitely heavy.

A Floaty Heavyweight character could be pretty interesting, I just don't think King Boo would be the best example of the potential.

Zelda and Punch Out!! not only have quite a few good choices for a heavyweight, but both haven't seen a newcomer in some time.
Just wanted to throw that out there.
The only thing I'd like to be cautious about with a Zelda rep is that I feel like it'd be better to get around to that point during a Zelda submission thread rather than now because Zelda truly has a diverse amount of characters.

Doc Louis though is something I'm 100% on board with all the way.

Just to clarify, while the weight class is called Light Cruiser, its actually still one of the heavier weight tiers:
C-xOm4YWsAEEDVX.jpeg

While we could use this chart to show that King Boo is only slightly heavier than Luigi, and is lighter than DK, Bowser, Wario, & Waluigi, I'm not sure going off a spin off racing game is the most reliable piece of information. My main point was not that King Boo is a lightweight in Mario Kart, since he is a heavy in Mario Kart, albeit barely, rather just that despite this technically heavy classification, other fighters show that we don't have to stick rigidly to that. That being said, I do love King Boo, especially his LM3 Design, and would love to see him get in. My thoughts are that he should be allowed to be submitted, and if he wins, then that means enough people thought he would work as a heavy so it wouldn't be undeserved, despite my personal disagreement with his weight.

Don’t you people forget about Mr. Dream! He was the head and color swap for Mike Tyson in newer releases of Punch-Out.
