Aren't Core Crystals transformed people? In that case I don't think it'd be elegible, but Xenoblade lore is really weird from the outside looking in so I could be wrong on that.
It's really weird, the initial object is inanimate but as soon as you use one, the crystal becomes like the brain and heart of a blade. But there is also a soul inside of it but a soul that is inactive. There is a gray zone.

One extra thing about about Spirit submissions, please follow this format and provide an artwork
While we're on the topic of submitting spirits I just want to mention the formatting of spirit posts. Right now the way that the inforamtion for a spirit battle is displayed varies depending on the submitter, so its not very cohesive, and some are missing information or use inconsistent language to describe the same things. This is the format I use and Venus has encouraged others to adopt it as well.

[Picture][Name] [(Game of Origin)]
Class:
Type: [Primary/Support)(Attack/Shield/Grab), # of slots
Effect:
  • Puppet Fighter: Fighter (Describe which alt)
  • Stage:
  • Music Track:
  • Match:
  • Conditions:
For Example: (This is a spirit I submitted already so it doesn't need to be added again)
Lana (Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors)
Class: Ace
Type: Primary Shield, 2 Slots
Effect: Electric Attack ↑
  • Puppet Fighter: Robin (Blue)
  • Stage: Temple
  • Music Track: Push Forward
  • Match: Stock (1)
  • Conditions: The enemy favors neutral special, Hazard: Zap Floor

Here are some resources that I use when making my spirits that helps with keeping the skills they have accurate, as well as not creating a spirit thats already in the game.

I use this one to see which traits come alongside primary spirits

I use this to see which effects can be given by support spirits.

I use this to see what the in game text is for certain conditions.

I've also found that the Mario wiki has the most viewable list of already existing spirits, with the spirit battle details alongside it for inspiration.

Okay this spirit is complicated to say the least, follow me on this one as it also has tons of references
Phase Distorter (Mother/Earthbound)
Legendary Class
Type Primary Grab
3 Slots
Effect: More Powerful Psi and get armed with a Franklin Badge

So this spirit fight actually has 2 phases to it

Phase 1
Puppet Fighters
Ness
Peach
Ryu
Jeff appears as an assist trophy enemy
These 4 reference the four heroes with Peach and Ryu being Paula and Poo

Stage Onett

Music: Pollyana

Phase 2
After KO king all the fighters you get warped to final destination

Puppet: Four ROBs

Special Condtions: one ROB is armed with a Home Run Bat, one ROB has a Franklin Badge, one ROB has a Steel Diver Gun, one ROB has a Beam Sword

(Referencing the Legendary Bat Bottle Rockets and Sword of Kings)

All opponents will get healed a little bit of hp periodically (reference to praying)

Allied assist trophies appear (assist trophies that help you), in this case Starmen

Stage Final Destination
Music: New Pork City

Match Stock (1)
Okay is this spirit battle too complex or is it good for the game

Chomp Rock (Yoshi Series)
Debut Game: Super Mario World (Artwork from Yoshi's New Island)
Novice Class Support (Weight Up)
Song: Main Theme - Yoshi's New Island

And last but not least

(Note I couldn't find a orginal image of this thing alone)
Chaos Heart (Super Paer Mario)

Support Legedary Attack Spirit
Takes up 2 slots
Effect: Corrupting Heart (a new abilty I made up where attacking the opponent will cause damage to slowly damage it over time like If it been flowered)

Puppet:
Ganondorf
+ endless army of black kirbies

Special Conditions:
The opponents magic attacks are extremely buffed
Periodically a Black Hole will appear, only the player is affected by this

Stage Fountain of Dreams
Music Ultimate Show

If you have this spirit equipped you will always be weak to Galeem's spirit ability no matter your characters alignments

Hey, I was making a spirit battle, but I think I might need a color for a puppet fighter beyond what's in Ultimate. I know we added four more to each character - where are those listed, again?

EDIT: Nevermind, I think I took care of it.

We already did a boss contest - my submissions were Rudy the Clown and the Rampage monsters, though I can't remember the winners - I wouldn't be surprised if there was a second boss contest though.

We will be having multiple boss additions as they are included in:
  • the upcoming adventure mode
  • Classic mode
  • Boss Spheres
  • Smash Dungeon

Our current list of bew Bosses are Rayquaza/Mega Rayquaza and Nemesis but you can for sure expect this number to increase as we continue development.

According to the front page, the bosses we have so far that weren't in Ultimate are Duon and Rayquaza/Mega Rayquaza, both veterans (although Rayquaza would be a half veteran cause Mega Rayquaza would be new).

In recent memory I recall Nemesis being added too but he's not on the front page yet.

Would some bosses be esclusive to smash dungeon and some to adveture mode due to the difference in gameplay styles

I e I picture a smash dunegon battle to use enclosed space since stamina battles may fit with these types of fights more and not rely on out of screen KOs and the other fights wouldn't rely on this

The original submission for Smash Dungeon indicated there would be unique bosses to the mode so I intend to honor that. However, we can always scale down boss stars and properties to better fit that mode.

Yeah I think a good mix of stamina and traditional ring out battles would work depending on the circumstances

Oh do bosses have their own emblems as well

I updated the Boss Sphere’s section which also includes their inclusion in the other modes.

if we're doing bosses does that include mini-boss?
In a way. We will be included powerful enemies like the Darknut and that one crazy powerful Kid Icarus skull monster in Smash Run.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but will future Smash Dungeon enemy submissions also be first come first serve?

The Retro prompt won with a landslide victory! Congratulations! Now with that out of the way, we'll dive head-first into our next Job!

Job #81: Submit a Retro Nintendo Character

We will now be submitting characters based on the following criteria:

  1. The character needs to be from a game that has not seen a new entry in the past 15 years.
  2. If the character made an appearance recently in a game not part of their series, that doesn't make them ineligible.
  3. We're willing to make exceptions for franchises that are heavily associated with their retro legacy, like Famicom Detective Club and Excitebike.

When submitting, please explain a bit of the character and the franchise’s history, why the character deserves to be in Smash, and a gameplay analysis so voters can get a better feel of the character. Finally, please explain how this could impact the future of this series and how including the character in Infinite could benefit the franchise. Maybe with them being in Smash, a revival could ensue à la Kid Icarus: Uprising? Please elaborate, and good luck!

Job 81: Donkey Kong Jr.
1617106949245.png

While the Donkey Kong Country series might be alive, the original arcade trilogy is far from it. DK Jr. made his first appearance in 1983's game by the same name, and aside from a role in the Game Boy Remake/Sequel to the original and a handful of spinoffs, he's been pretty much missing from the series ever since.

Junior's moveset could involve many of the traps from the original trilogy. This involves the barrels and fire from the original, fruit and vines from 2, and... something from 3, nobody cares about that one. He could be one of the most unique on the roster, playing nothing like his... son? Donkey Kong lore is weird.

Just realized retro in this case counts as 2006 or earlier.
Well, that's not going to be very interesting. Among all the fighters decided so far; Octoling, Stylist, and Barista are the only ones created after 2006 anyway.
