I like modern family and Community.

Community is kinda like scrubs's little brother. Has some of the 30 rock writers, very NBC-esque

I feel like modern family is hit or miss, dunno how to describe it.....Al Bundy is in it lol. I think its really solid, but I can see where someone would think that it'd be too dry or predictable. I think the writing and dialog is well polished though.

big bang theory is getting blan but i used to watch it hardcore. its just like too much nerdiness now. I feel like every episode is like "how much more obscure and nerdy can we be?" Just doesnt seem to be as subtle and clever as it was before Sheldon and the crew came from Antarctica.

Frisky Dingo is one of those cult Adult Swim shows that only lasted 2 seasons, but is absolutely hilarious. I'd recommend it to anyone, and its a short watch. I've been watching Breaking Bad finally, and it is great. Other than that, 24 is also a definite favorite.

Edit: I'm also addicted to trivia, so I can't pass up Jeopardy or Cash Cab if they're on.

party down *****, im so disappointed its canceled now. incredibly smart writing and the characters all felt realistic even though they were doing over the top stuff. in a way, i'm kinda glad the show didn't go on too long, but im pretty sure they could've done two more good seasons if ryan hansen/adam scott weren't leaving. maybe even without ryan hansen, but kyle was one of my favorite characters.

i should probably watch veronica mars

The Wire is the best thing I've seen in the last ~5 years. My fav character is Omar, like 99% of the rest of the world. Landsman is also too good.

wire is much better than breaking bad imo

the only real standard i'm using is that i enjoyed the wire a lot more, whereas i started s3 of breaking bad and haven't felt COMPELLED to finish it, unlike wire where once i started i couldn't stop

Everybody should watch Eastbound and Down. It's one of the funniest shows I've EVER seen, and it has a new season now! It's mainly from the mind of four people: Danny McBride, Jody Hill, Ben Best and David Gordon Green.

McBride is the star, and well known for his roles in Pineapple Express (Red) and Tropic Thunder (the demolitions guy). Along with Jody Hill and Ben Best, he made the movie The Foot Fist Way. The three also have written every episode of the show so far. David Gordon Green, the director of Superbad, does a lot of the direction of the show. The show has a great visual look that gives the show the feel of a movie rather than television.

Guest stars include bigger names like Will Ferrell and Craig Robinson as well as recognizable faces like Andrew Daly and John Hawkes.

The basic premise is that Kenny Powers (McBride), a former professional pitcher, has burned out and needs to return to his hometown to regroup. He lives with his older brother and gets a job as a substitute PE teacher.

watch this show
it's the funniest thing ever
if you don't watch it you're not my friend*

*not true

EB&D's second season started a little slow compared to the amazing first season they had.

Boardwalk Empire is extremely well made. I highly suggest it.

I dunno. I didn't really think Eastbound and Down was amazing until I had seen the entire season. And I think it gets funnier about every time I watch it. I wouldn't be surprised if I like the second season more after it's complete.

Boardwalk Empire is everything I expected and a little bit more. Feels like the scope is bigger than I originally expected.

Idk if you guys are in the know like the cool kids, but check out the show "Louie." One of the top two comedies on tv last year, and I don't think this year will be any different.

hahahahahaha eastbound & down is ****ing so funny

hope the second season is as good
the second season is one of the oddest things ive ever seen, but its also one of my favorites.

louie is genius tv, cant wait for it to come back.

edit: it's funny you brought up louie. i think that, along with Eastbound and Down, it's the most "modern" television comedy around. both are stylistically free of any of the classic sitcom trappings, but they are shot in a very cinematic fashion and are produced by a small group of people. in the case of Louie, Louis CK is creatively in charge of everything. Eastbound and Down has a slightly bigger talent pool, but there are still only three directors and four writers to write the scripts. While both are incredibly funny, they examine the dark side of life.

I highly recommend both, for anyone who likes comedy, television or me.

edit 2:
I just started watching SONS OF ANARCHY which is now on netflix streaming. It seems pretty cool, although I'm not liking it as much as Terriers (RIP) and Justified.

I just finished watching through The Wire a second time. It only gets better. If you have not seen this show, you are a culturally illiterate boor whose opinion about everything is invalid.

I started watching David Simon's (creator of The Wire) new series, Treme, which is about New Orleans. So far it has the same feel as The Wire in terms of character development and style. It has a different theme though, it doesn't quite have as broad of a scope as The Wire does, and it's more about rebuilding (it's set post-Katrina) and things like the local music scene than bureaucracy or conflict. It's very enjoyable, don't get me wrong, but don't go in expecting The Wire, NOLA. Oh, and it features certain alumni from The Wire, such as Wendell Pierce (Bunk Moreland), Clarke Peters (Lester Freamon), Steve Earle (Walon), Anwan Glover (Slim Charles), and Jim True-Frost (Roland Przybylewski). And John Goodman.

stringer is the bridge guardian guy in thor

i did not recognize
you were not kidding!

-

i recently watched all of television's Fringe
the second season was kinda lame but the third season was dope
if you like sci-fi type stuff, it's worth checking out. it's not without it's flaws (and some of them are fairly egregious) but it's entertaining.

haha i was thinkin of mentionin fringe since i havent seen anyone say anythin about it
one of the best things about that show is john noble (walter), especially when he starts to play alternate-walter, amazing acting.
Other cool things include episodes linking with tidbits of fun info across the seasons
i would go so far to say its the best non-cable show (if that means anything)

game of thrones is pretty tight

i almost regret watching the advanced 7th episode right when it came out cuz now i gotta wait another week for a new episode :(

i never read the books so it's cool to see a well produced fantasy drama like this that i don't know anything about.

it's all pretty tight except the sex scenes SUCK LOL
i've seen enough 2am cinemax softcore porn to get ****in pissed off every time there's a hella long sex scene in game of thones. does it make me gay to fastforward thru drago pounding the blonde chick for the 25th time? LMAO

edit: also, community RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPESSSSSS

i checked out one episode just cuz of my love of childish gambino and then i burned thru all of both seasons in like 2 weeks. it's a really good show LOL i want donald glover's **** babies

i dont mind the sex scenes, despite them being ridiculous
plus im in love with daenerys for some reason
the one in episode 7 with the
lesbian grinding while carcetti talked
was way too much though, i laughed through it

ill probably read the books after this season is done, but for now im enjoying not knowing what comes next. except for the spoilers i read online because i can't help myself sometimes.

i'm just glad there's a big budget fantasy show on the air. im hoping it opens the door for more sci-fi/fantasy tv shows in the same vein.
--
community makes me happy in ways i can't describe. i love how ambitious it is, i love the cast, i love alison brie (omggg), i love that it isn't afraid to make episodes that aren't laugh out loud funny despite being a comedy. i would gay marry donald glover in an instant.
--
right now im running through three shows for the first time:
Deadwood
Babylon 5
Twin Peaks
Deadwood is amazing, it feels so immersive and it has a ****ton of actors I think are super badass (Ian McShane, Titus Welliver, Timothy Olyphant, John ****ing Hawkes, Keith Carradine, etc). I'm only half way through the second season, but it's some of the best television I've ever seen. You should check this if you haven't yet, Oscar.

Twin Peaks and Bab5 I'm only a couple episode into, but I'm enjoying both so far. I hear B5 gets better after the first season. Twin Peaks feels incredibly modern for being the same age I am.
