Lots of shows being brought up that require too much time. Here are three that don't:

Malcolm in the Middle -- Maybe not the funniest, but always interesting. I'll always be impressed at how flexible and diverse the episodes and characters were. If I were to ever write for television, this is what I would aim for.

Law and Order -- This is what House wishes it could be. I used to jerk off to Hugh Laurie, but now i know better and jerk off to Sam Waterston. Episodes are inconsistent, but even at it's worse it's still watchable.

Law and Order: SVU -- I figure the smash community would appreciate this one.

Edit: Also, America's Next Top Model. B/c it is so bad. It's like going into that stupid carnival ride that simply spins super fast and makes you cling to the walls, and when you get out you want to simultaneously giggle and throw up.

alton brown is amazing, and the show is hilarious. theres lots of those 'little jokes' that i always notice and laugh at. everything he makes looks delicious and there not that difficult to make yourself. foodnetwork.com has a bunch of recipies too. and its ****ing funny as ****.

I am not going to waste my time sifting through ****ty TV shows
that has nothing to do with anything i said

all the shows i mentioned are good, it's just a matter of whether they're up your alley

and as far as i'm concerned i adjust my tastes to quality, whether the subject is in and of itself interesting is irrelevant

taking a piece from your own book, "you're going to have to thoroughly convince me for me to actually want to start watching a show" (that's paraphrased obviously) Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure you said something along those same lines about videogames.
that also has nothing to do with anything because you're the one saying TV sucks and is cliche and etc. the burden of proof is on you.

the video game thing is out of context. i've grown out of video games; they just don't interest me anymore. it's a personal thing. but i'm not bashing the art form; there are a ton of really good video games i just have no interest in playing.

and i always hated ocarina of time, professional.

macd, he can't answer that cause he's never seen it.

Food Network is almost all I watch.
I watch random things here and there when I'm bored.

Lost is my favorite show on TV right now. It's so science fiction-y I don't even know what to do with myself

well that's the problem,
no one's opinion holds very much weight when it comes to tv, cause usually it's NOT up my alley, not to mention differing tastes and such
your opinion does hold more weight than others but that's not saying much, it still has negligible correlation with how much i'll like the show

and as far as i'm concerned i adjust my tastes to quality, whether the subject is in and of itself interesting is irrelevant
i agree, i dont think i ever said anything to contradict this
buffy is both low quality and uninteresting

that also has nothing to do with anything because you're the one saying TV sucks and is cliche and etc. the burden of proof is on you.
i guess. i wont be providing any evidence though, if you like your shows more power to you.

macd, he can't answer that cause he's never seen it.
i've seen a few episodes. it was pretty lame. i figured it was something only young kids would enjoy.

also i agree about videogames. the golden age has passed, leaving nothing but a dark shadow in its wake...

dude the whole point is you can't go around kouryuuing it up saying **** as if it's absolute fact when you're basing **** off of THREE EPISODES

you just sound like a little kid

basically you have no right to whine when you're too lazy to actually support your opinion

*****, there is only one kind of "kouryuu" and that's the "nevermind" ninja edit.

I still enjoy video games but it's definitely not what it used to be =(

I don't care what anyone says, Heroes really was that bad. What do you want me to do, watch every season of the show just to prove that I don't like it?

yeah heroes is pretty bad

i don't know if you can tell whether a show is "good" or "bad" by watching 3 episodes (if those concepts even exist), but you can certainly tell if you'd probably enjoy it or not

I remember watching undubbed unsubtitled Iron Chef back in the day. It was amazing.
Then the subtitled and dubbed ones were around, and they were still awesome.
I've only watched a little bit of IC America but I didn't like it as much

i watched seinfeld every day as a young'un

dude the whole point is you can't go around kouryuuing it up saying **** as if it's absolute fact when you're basing **** off of THREE EPISODES
The only thing I could think of that had to do with this was Heroes, I didn't remember if I told you already or not but I saw three episodes then deleted the rest of the season from my hd cause I thought it was a waste.

if you like good television, then watch the OC
lol i can't tell if you're joking

simpsons seasons 4-7 is probably my favorite ever actually
Yes
It makes me sad because whenever I mention simpsons being my favorite show, most people automatically think Im a TV noob since they reference it with the "new" simpsons episodes, which are dreadful. There are soooo many people who prefer family guy over the simpsons because they dont know what real simpsons episodes are. Its really no competition
Watch old episodes at http://www.wtso.net/

As for other TV shows...
Arrested Development
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Weeds

i seriously miss some of my early classes not because i oversleep but because bravo airs it in the morning

i saw part of an episode of breaking bad before leaving to work it was pretty good but i forgot what channel it was on and didn't know the name just that the dad from malcom in the middle was in it

the last 2 seasons of buffy sucked
i don't recall the 1st season much
but 2-5 were really good

i think we should extend this thread to shows we have downloaded on our computers
so we can exchange them in various methods =]
i believe i have
House Seasons 1-4
Grey's Anatomy Season 1-2
Scrubs seasons 1-6
30 rock season 1-2
bones season 1-2
office season 2-3
boondocks season 1-2

no joke every episode has the suspense, and entertainment value of a feature film
maybe production quality is the only thing keeping it around tv show level, but really all they're lacking is over the top cgi
but the best thing is that the way the show is, its better without those crazy things
like its more imaginative maybe?

ill give an example
today, the bad guy were these 4 aliens. and theyve been around since the beginning of the universe. and humans dont even know they exist. but they have evolved the most supreme form of self defense. whenever any observer sees them, they turn to stone involuntarily. and are unkillable, because you cant 'kill' stone (cracking the rock doesnt really apply; watch the show for a better explanation). but they also have top priority in a fight, because you cant kill them, and they are extremely fast. so dont blink.

turns out that what we thought were just statues were aliens lol

so in the scene, the lights were flickering on and off, while they were trying to break into a phone booth. they way they showed it was when the lights would flick back on, everything would be in a different position, like they were shaking the booth.

my first thought was, this sucks low production quality

but then i realized they could get away with it, because when the lights turned on they were visible, and instantly turned to stone

TL;DR the show *****

i think venture bros is terrible

also house is suffering the problem that all episodic dramas have in terms of running out of storylines, except it's even worse because people won't understand subtle differences in symptoms and diseases
