I say give me some good reasons. Because its not.
With this system, I click one link, and then check the page for the bright red Melee, and I've found my tournament. With subforums, I'd have to click twice. I'd also have to open up multiple tabs if I want to look for Melee+Brawl events as well, while with the colors I can simply open up one page and it's all there.

In counterpoint:
1. Mods should be able to edit tags just as easily as they could move threads (easier, in fact, as they don't have to select a forum to move it to from a big list).

2. Melee+Brawl events having a thread in each subforum would make it overall more difficult for the TOs and the mods to manage, your dislike of those awful Brawl-playing infidels notwithstanding. Melee+Brawl threads are usually all filled with Melee posts anyway.

3. How is all the tournaments being on one page "more separated?" Why is this even an issue? Newbs can read, too; they can tell that the colors are there to specify the games the threads correspond to. You make it sound like they'll get all befuddled like some guy in a "has this ever happened to you?" segment of an infomercial and go into a fit.

The only real argument against it would be that it's easier for TOs to just ignore the heading when posting than it is for them to post their thread in the wrong subforum, but if they do that it's just straight-up laziness on their part. It's right next to the title.

I also think it looks pretty nice.

1. While the colors make it easier its still dependent on the TO to go back to his original post and select the Melee tag for his tournaments. You could say "Oh well so is the TO placing the tournament in the correct subforum. To that I say At least the mods can move the threads for them that's what they are there for anyway.
Actually you don't have to go "back to the original post". If you are creating a tournament ("create new thread") then you simply select a prefix while you are doing all the standard things for making a new thread. At worst, the problem you percieve will only exist for a month or two while threads exist before the prefix system was implemented. Also, mods can edit thread titles and most of the threads with titles currently are the result of moderator actions.

2. For dual tournament threads (Example : Pound 4 ) if it were subforumed I could opt only to read the melee responses in the melee section without having to sift through thousands of brawl posts. This is not possible with just color coating.
Agreed here. However, the intent of ANY tournament, is for discussion to be simply about the tournament itself, regardless of what game is being talked about. A tournament is about the entire event. You want to selectively determine what tournaments within the given event should be talked about. It makes far more sense that any attendee be capable of talking about any tournament within a given event.

3. You guys always try to promote "togetherness" between us but then u make the threads red vs blue lol. It seems more separated then just having 2 sub forum's for the tournament listings. If a newb comes on the site and see mad red vs blue threads everywhere hes gonna be more split than if he just say "Melee tournament listings " And "Brawl tournament listings " After he clicks on tournament listings. Everything else is separated already its nothing new. It doesn't look any less segregated. I don't see why its not being done.
Red and blue are contrasting colors making it easy to locate a given thread. Would you have preferred similar colors, making it harder to locate threads? Also, if a newb comes to the site and is given the choice of Brawl or Melee tournament forums, chances are they are picking Brawl and not even paying attention to the existence of Melee, removing any new attention to the Melee community that could be gained from Brawls popularity. But hey, if you want to decrease exposure to the Melee community, I guess that is fine.

Thanks for adding the red melee, blue brawl, and green for both.
Really helps.
Obviously I would still prefer subsections (brawl, melee and (?) 64) because then I would click once for tourny listings, once for melee, and bam I would see 10 (I think 10 threads are shown before you click next page) melee only tournament threads.
With the present system, it is one click for tourny listings, and you see 10 threads (or whatever the number is) of which probably 2 - 3 at max is a melee only tourny. So to see the all of them I would probably have to jump a couple of pages.
For brawl it isn't as much of a problem since there are a billion tournaments. For 64 (I have no idea if tournaments still exist for this) it is virtually impossible if tournaments are still going on (or maybe they have a different section...whatever).

Don't get me wrong, this system helps LOADS. But I along with a bunch of others I guess ^^ believe that separating the two will help even more. These improvements that I see are just to make it easier to navigate. Really no sense of melee pride or whatever. Personally I prefer not to see a single comment about brawl (which would be a problem which Eggm stated) since I am not interested in it at all and I have never played the game and am not knowledgeable at all in it (wtf is a zair).
Thanks for the updates and hopefully there will be more.

The tags allow you to sort the thread listings.

The pulldown menu will allow you to display only threads which match the prefix you're looking for.

It's not a perfect system, but it's there.
