Sign-ups are over!​

Wow! After making it through two successful TOMB Tournaments, we are finally in the middle of TOIC 2010! Being the midpoint in this Circuit, TOMB 3 has grown from it's old counter-parts, TOMB 1 and 2. It also has been going through some big changes as the months pass, so you'll need to use that brain of yours to make it through this Tournament! Now, let's go ahead and get this next segment of the Circuit started!

General Rules

Bracket Type: Double Elimination (Winner/Loser Bracket)
Stocks: 3 Stock
Timer: 8 Minutes
Items: None

- All Sets are best out of 3 matches, with the exception of Winner's Finals (WF), Loser's Finals (LF), and Grand Finals (GF), which are best out of 5.

- If the Timer runs out, then the winner is determined first my their Stocks and then by their Percent (%) Damage.

- If a match ends with a character doing a "suicidal" attack (Kirby's Inhale, Wario's Bite, etc.), then the player who initialted the attack wins the match.

- The Ledge Grab Limit is 45 Grabs.

- The winner of the Winner's Bracket must be beaten in two GF Sets by the Loser's Bracket winner, while the Winner's Bracket winner has to beat the other in one GF Set.

Banned Tactics

- Stalling is banned, which is the act of avoiding all conflict on the stage to make the game unplayable. Running away to get to a better position is not Stalling, while Planking with Meta Knight is.

- MK's Infinite Demensional Cape glitch is banned.

- Marth’s Grab Release Infinites on Lucas and Ness are banned.

- DDD's Infinite Standing Chain Grab is banned. DDD's must Run-and-Grab when Chain Grabbing.

- IC's Chain Grab must end after 200%, or it will be considered an act of Stalling.

- Scrooging with Meta Knight is banned, which is repeatedly Gliding under a Stage to make yourself untouchable by your opponent, which is an act of Stalling. If your opponent is Scrooging, they must get on the Stage and land an attack on you after no more than two Glides.

- If any of these rules are broken, the opponent that broke them will lose the match of the Set that they broke them on.

Stage Rules

- The first match of the Set must be played on a Starter Stage. You must use the Stage Striking Rule.

- Stage Striking Rule: The player with the higher seed gets to strike one stage off of the Neutural Stages first. The player with the lower seed gets to strike two stages off of the Neutural Stages after the player with the higher seed strikes a stage. The player with the higher seed may then pick out a stage to play on out of the two stages left.

- The loser of the first match of the Set chooses the stage the next match, which is also known as the Counter Pick stage (CP). The player that won the first game must choose a stage to ban out of all of the stages for the entire Set. After this, the loser of the first game will get to choose their CP, but it cannot be the stage that the opponent banned.

- You may only get to ban one stage in every Set.

- If the game starts and the Stage is not the one you or your opponent CP'ed, Suicide (SD) three times and make sure you or your opponent knows what Stage was CP'ed.

- Repeat this process with every Set until a winner is declared.

- Dave's Stupid Rule: You may not CP a stage you previously won on in the same Set.

Note: All other stages are banned.


Here is how the Bracket will work out:

- The Chatroom: For TOIC 2010, I have created a Chatroom that will be used to complete everyone's matches. This is where I will host my "Mini-Brackets" and the other Rounds after the Mini-Brackets are done with. The link to the Chatroom is always going to be at the top of the TOMB thread.

- I will post the Bracket on the monday of the week the Tournament begins. For the first two weeks of the Tournament, I will assign 8 different Mini-Brackets with 8 players in each on Thursday-Sunday. On each of those days, one Mini-Bracket will be completed. This will continue until the second week of the Mini-Brackets are finished.

- After the 8 Mini-Brackets are completed, the Winner's Quarter Finals - Winner's Finals and the Loser's Bracket: Round 5 - Loser's Quarter Finals Sets will be played for the third week. On Saturday, we will finish up what is left of the Winner's Bracket. On Sunday, the loser's of the Saturday matches, except for the Winner's Final's loser, will return to face of against the loser's of the Mini-Brackets, who will also play each other.

- The forth week, which is the last week of the Tournament, will have the Loser's Semi Finals on Friday, the Loser's Finals on Saturday, and the Grand Finals on Sunday. After this week, the Tournament is over!

Note: The times at which every Mini-Bracket or Round begins will be updated in the second post of the TOMB thread and will also be PM'ed to each player.

Here's an example of a Mini-Bracket



- The main Bracket, which is where these Mini-Brackets come from, will have a limit of 64 players. If you want to enter a TOMB, you better do so quickly!

When you sign-up for this Tournament, you agree to:

- Stay active and complete any matches that are assigned to you.
- Report your Set to a Host after you have played it with your opponent.
- Do whatever a Host tells you to do.

TOMB 3: Results​

About time! We finally finished up TOMB 3, which turned out to go on up until Week VI. The first 2 weeks of this Tournament were amazing, for about 3/4 of the Sets were completed. Of course, the other 4 weeks were just slow, troublesome, and annoying! Despite this being the longest TOMB, it was for sure a good one. Now for the Results!

Now for the important stuff. As you guys already know, TOMB 4 is the Circuit Finals and my last TOMB, and only the Top 16 on the Circuit Standings are allowed to participate in it. BlkMagiK's going to update the main Circuit Standings Pic, so in the meantime, let me show you what it'll exactly look like once he's completed it:

Notice something wrong with it? I said that the Top 16 on this list get invited to participate in TOMB 4, but after 14th place, 8 different players are tied for 15th. What does this mean? Well, I don't want to push the random button and blindly pick 2 of the 8 players to play in TOMB 4. There's only 1 fair way to settle this.....

TOMB 3.5!

That's right, folks. I'm going to do an 8-man-bracket for these players, and the Top 2 at the end of the Mini-Tournament get invited into TOMB 4! After we get these 2 players, I will begin the last TOMB over at AllisBrawl. I'm going to put up the TOMB 3.5 thread here on Smashboards real soon, so stay tuned in for that. Oh, and here are the Wii Point Payouts for the Top 5 in TOMB 4 that'll be used for games:

So, to make sure I've got this right, 8 players will play one day, and then another set of 8 will play the next day, and so on? Or will everyone play at the same time as soon as they know what mini-bracket they are in?

Pretty much, yeah! A set of 8 players will play on Thursday, then Friday will be another set of 8, etc. This'll go on for 2 weekends straight! I will never try again to do everyone at the same time; it doesn't really, you know, WORK out that great lol.
