its either Tom Nook or an AC Human with either a design from the upcoming AC game, from WW, from the GC version or they could get it from Animal Forest from the N64(although Ive never seen screenshots so I dunno if theyre any different from the ones from GC)...those are the only two logical AC PLAYABLE reps...

Why won't it happen there has been nothing to hint that he won't make it.
omg wut r u tokkign bout man heez in te backgroudn!!!1

Cause we all know how hard it would be for Nintendo to program a true or false value to determine if he's in the background or not while played.

you mean Sora, and yes, scripting is harder then you make it sound. rigorous tests + getting it wrong a load of times = very irritating.

but yeah, they can do it. honestly, it doesn't matter. if you can have 4 of the same characters fighting each other, the same character in the background = no problem.

It really only makes sense that Tom Nook's in the background, even if he were to be playable. As Sakurai said, the people in the Smashville background are sort of like spectators at a sporting event. Tom Nook's loyal to his town, right? If he's not in the match, why shouldn't he go out there with the rest of his town and support the fighters?

Also, I'm not liking the moveset in the original post.

I'd prefer something like this...

A - Jab
AA - 1-2 Punch
AAA- 1-2 Punch to Kick
Ftilt - Tail Stab
Dtilt - Tail Sweep
Utilt - Upward Headbutt

FSmash - Axe Slash
USmash - Crescent Axe Slash
DSmash - 360 Axe Sweep

Nair - Sex Kick
Bair - Backward Tail Alap
Fair - Frontflip Headbutt
Uair - Frontflip Overhead Kick
Dair - Drill Kick

Grab - Fishing Rod (Also used for Tether Recovery)
Grab A - Slap
Fthrow - Forward Release
Bthrow - Backward Release
Uthrow - Upward Release to Slingshot Barrage (Nook throws the enmy up above him and release a flurry of slingshot pellets in his direction)
Dthrow - Pinwheel Pulverizer (Nook slams the enemy onto the ground below him, causing them to bounce up above him. He then pulls out a spinning pinwheel, and stabs directly above him into the enemy. The pinwheel traps the enemy and gradually damages him for a second before sending him flying diagnally downward behind Nook.)

B - Slingshot (Chargeable a la Link's arrows)
Smash B - Plant (Tom digs a hole directly under the enemy, trapping them in the ground. If an enemy is not in range, Tom Nook simply thrusts his shovel out blankly, not doing any damage. Similar to DK's Smash B.)
Up B - Balloon Trip (Tom pulls out three balloons and begins sailing upward. The balloons can be popped by enemy attacks and projectiles. He'll continue floating until either all the balloons are popped or the player cancels the move by pressing down on the control stick.)
Down B - Refund (Tom crouches and holds his cash register overhead. If he is attacked in the state, the cash egister opens and sends a bag of bells flying in each direction. The stronger the attack, the heavier these bags will be, and the more damage they'll do. Similar to Marth's Counter.)

Final Smash - Bell Rain (Tom Nook summons a giant storm of bell bags to rain upon the stage, damaging anything they hit.)

Like it?

Haha, the only good thing Tom nook would bring to Brawl, is the ability to beat the crap out of a character that annoys you.

Eh, i guess you have a point. Now, persuade me. Why would nook be a great character?

He's basically the leader of animal crossing...all the underground deals have him involved and he gets a piece of everything. Whenever an animal crosser comes to town, they HAVE to work for him or get the axe...literally. Plus Rosetti is his *****...

Okay, you've listed reasons why he's a great nintendo icon, i agree... and i love animal crossing. But i fail to see what use he has being FIGHTING character.

There is, actually. If you look at the Smashville background, Tom Nook is watching the fights. Not only that, what kind of fighting style would he have in the first place?

....ok...but that doesn't make up for the fact that he's already in the backgound? What do you think? Tom Nook will be watching himself fight?

Tom Nook is not seen at all in the background in Smashville, same as Mr. Resetti, which means... it is highly probably Tom Nook will be an Assist Trophy or even better... A SMASHABLE PLAYER!:chuckle:

That's true, but they are different by color or Tunics. And unless the standard Tom Nook has a different color apron then the on in the background, it's not gonna happen. I still don't understand how he would be a fighter. Would he overcharge the enemies till they died? He seems like he would be the guy who runs the Trophy Lottery instead of actually fighting.

A Blue Apron. I still don't get the appeal of Tom Nook. Why not the Animal Crossing Human? At least that guy has a Shovel and an Axe.

So? He could be called Animal Crossing Human, or you could have the ability to name him/her yourself. At least he's got a plausible moveset, and weapons, for that matter.

Just because some people can't think of a moveset for Nook doesn't mean he can't have one...

and personally, I like personality in a character for Smash more than any other factor

Mii would be interesting, knowing if you combine that with the Wi-Fi mode, it would be the closest to you being in the game as you can get. Plus, it's possible if they can use the Wii Nunchuck, Wiimote, and Wii Zapper, among other things.

I really don't like the idea...they have no personality and look like 5 year old's plastic toys...

What if you had the ability to Fill out a questionnare that would give your Mii the personality of the person that it's based off of?

It'd be like one of those online quizzes. It can be simplified. And the personality would be for Subspace Emmisary Reasons. Like Mii Plaza was hit with a subspace bomb, and you managed to survive without being engulfed in subspace. It would make it a lot more interesting.

Fair enough. I did dwelve into this topic on accident. So, what's the appeal to Tom Nook? I don't get it at all.
