I for one really loved the 2ed gen children in awakening.... But, i do not like it coming back here. It feels super contrived.
it has nothing to do with the characters quality as much as what it'll probably imply in the games plot.

I meant I liked it being part of Awakening's plot, but that I really really really don't think its a good idea to do it a second time. It was a one time thing, and shoehorning it into Fates is not something I wanted to see.

Unfathomable spoiler pyramid befitting Zalgo social.
I dunno what you're talking about, I hate babies. :^)
Also game content walled off behind an impenetrable (HUE) barrier of heteronormativity which I cannot personally relate to or really get that much out of.

But mostly babies. :troll:

From Dengeki:
(The box reads "Marriage"):

"After employing the various methods of deepening bonds, when the support level between characters of the opposite sex reaches the highest value (S), they can marry. Depending on the combination of the married characters, the two will give birth to a child -- whom will be able to fight alongside them."

(Close-up of Felicia):
"The proposal was a huge success!"

(The screenshot of them presumably marrying):
"After gradually nurturing their bonds, the two are finally tied..."

(Beneath the picture of them presumably marrying):
"Even during the midst a brutal war that risks their lives, the protagonist is a cool guy who can win a spouse. However, even their daughter can stand in battle."

(Beneath the picture of Kamui and Kanna):
"Their children will participate in the same fight."
-------
-"Depending on the combination of the married characters".

Does this imply that some pairs don't give off children? Could it imply having different children depending on which two characters are married? Like one pair will have one kid while another pair will have another different kid that isn't the other kid? Maybe like Genealogy of the Holy War where depending on whether the mother marries or not, the character that joins later will either be their kid or a different character, except depending on the couple determines the kid?
Probably not. Maybe it will be like Awakening and the text is there for hype.

@ RadiantTactician RadiantTactician going and blogging that tumblr anon ask with the Fire Emblem and Pokeani question I asked purimpopoie. =p

Or at least I think that's RadiantTactician. Same name and all that. Who knows.

Now I'm just thinking of skills for S-supports for the characters. That should be a thing in FE really. Let you reap the benefits for getting two characters to S Support.

I am still really not sure what to think about this... As much as I liked having the kids in awakening and what it did for the story... did we reallly need this again? Really? I am now super worried this will feel bloated and out of place with the rest of the game.

/sigh So much for progress. Guess Ninty hasn't learned anything from Tomodachi Life. Better luck next time IS. At least the gameplay will be good.

Guys, I just had a thought...

I just noticed that the other example kid looks a lot like Tharja... since we are getting 3 clones of Awakening 2ed gens as 1st gen Nohr characters, does this mean that the Hoshido are going to get clones of the 3 most popular Awakening 1st gens as 2ed gens?

Never thought I'd see Super Man 64 gifs on here of all things.:chuckle:
really? they're a pretty major part of the Robin social's history, alongside Sonic OCs (which are thankfully no more), and the occasional Hunger Games simulation. The sort of thing that, once one person brings it up, everyone else starts spamming it for the rest of the day :p

Truth be told I've only been here for a little while so I have no knowledge of this place's history.

The more you know I suppose.

I'll look forward to more Super Man 64 gifs than since that game (and gifs involving it) makes me laugh a bunch.

Zelda Social should do a hunger games simulation again.

Speaking of Hunger Games simulators... I did mention on the last one that I was going to open up my program for other people to be able to use it.

http://moydow.grifkuba.net/hfej/

Have fun! (also, excuse the rubbish five-minute GIMP attempt for a background. The design was a lot more grandiose in my mind :p )

Still working on it. If there are any errors, please tell me

Alright, something else just occurred to me that I need to get off my chest.

Alright, Fire Emblem: Fates. Since apparently who can marry who will be more restricted this time, let me just tell you this...

You better let me pair Odin and Luna togeather! Severa x Owain was my second favorite pairing in Awakening, so I better be able to pair their blatant clones together. Oh, and have a kid, since while I'm not crazy about the 2ed gen mechanic returning in fates, I would appreciate seeing what the kid of said pairing would end up like. K-thx, bye.

Guys, I am kinda in shock over this whole thing. Is it weird that I am not really liking this idea in Fates, despite it having been one of my favorite parts of Awakening?

And now I am suddenly really worried about the game, and I was so hyped just a day ago.

Future children is one level of micromanagment that I really don't want in this game. It's what made Awakening become a chore in the late game.
But on the other hand, marriage is back though, so...

yessss :awesome:

Hopefully the children are optional just like the face rubbing. I can't see them being worked into the story in any way beyond either being unlocked after completion, an optional side mission, or just appearing in MyCastle similar to Amiibo.

Only one problem, she's your sister. Incest has never been that Blatant in this series since fe4 and I doubt IS would want to start that again.

Something is bothering me though. How does future children exactly work on a linear game like Nohr, paralogues would have to function differently or be unlocked in different ways. Also if only certain pairings produce children, it's going to really mess with my head.

Congratulations. I'm just sitting here getting ready to start Battle Before Dawn from Blazing Sword.
Oh man, I wish you the best of luck with that. :emptysheep:
Just wait till later in the game. Hella good unit but then again there was a couple of good units in FF8.
Ah, it's amazing to hear that he remains a good unit throughout the game. There are some units who are just POWERHOUSES at the beginning but then crumble. coughSothecough

The urge to change my avatar to Ephraim is real.

I really hope they don't repeat the time travel shenanigans again. I started with Awakening and I enjoyed it but I don't want all of it's elements to be stable for the FE franchise. I don't mind the children that much (I enjoyed them in FE:AW) but I can't say I am a fan of it either. I am not judging the children right now, but I really hope the support with them won't be generic conversations.

If anything, they should limit the support pool of everyone(including Avatar) so we can get quality conversation over the quantities we have in Awakening.

She isn't your biological sister. You're adopted. It's totally okay! :D Embarrass
Admit it Kotor, you don't want to go to Nohr to praise "St" Garon or anything. The real reason is Camilla:awesome:. Don't hide it.

Problem is, the Hoshidians are your biological siblings. And if you can't marry Hoshido royality, you can bet that you can't marry the Nohr royality as well since those games were made with parallelism in mind. Sooo unless Kamui can marry his/her blood siblings, it means no adopted sibling marriage for Kamui.

Or it's more reason to go Nohr.
As if it needed it.
Of course it's highly possible that your birth parents are also, in fact, not Hoshido.
