I know this might be really controversial, especially in this thread...

*looks left*

*looks right*

I'd really like it if Robin made it into Smash 4.
How dare you say something like that! Especially in this thread
We don't take kindly to your kind around here

To get back to Robin...do you guys think one of her/his alternate costumes could somehow be Kris from FE12?
Hm, maybe the hairstyle...but the starting class varied, so things would be pretty funky.

At this rate, this thread is going to be the new fire emblem discussion thread. Not that I mind all that much. :p

It's another blue haired swordsman?

Definitely. Inevitable. We must accept it now. :troll:

I'd really like it if FE: Awakening's Robin made it into Smash 4 as a playable character.

*Hands you an Arcfire shield* You might need this. Lol.

Yeah. WTF. Why would you bring up that generic Mary Sue self-insert fan-fic dream of a character.

This is the Kermit discussion thread. Get back on topic, folks.

I love you Hong.

I think it would make my life if some of Sakurai's staff were snooping around on this thread, realized that we're tying in Kermit in a discussion about Robin and blessed us with Kermit inspired wear for a Robin alt :troll:

How does everyone feel about the whole Bride and Dread Fighter thing?

It sounds like a prime costume idea for Robin, but I must say the Bride class bothers me. I find it degrading to see characters like Lucina in that stupid outfit. I rather have had them make the Dread Fighter class available to both genders. There's enough needless segregation with Pegasus Knights and stuff.

I think the Bride class was a good idea, but hindsight kind of silly and unrealistic. What women is going to where a wedding dress during a war? As for the Dread Fighter class, I agree. Ninja F! Robin would be fun to play as.

I HATE the Bride class, and I especially hate how they wasted a good redesign for Eirika on that stupid class. Eirika is among my favorite FE characters that that stupid outfit I agree is completely degrading to her character and certainly doesn't portray her very well at all to new fans of the series. Dread Fighter should've definitely been a multi-gender class, hell, I'd have taken just Dread Fighter over getting a second stupid class for the females.

And I don't even HAVE Awakening. :p

Dread Fighter outfit for both genders please. Bride class was nice for what it offered and all (weapon options, stats, support), but I abhor everything else about it.

I really like the dread fighter for pretty much everything except the shoulder mask. And even that looks kinda cool, I guess. Not my style, but I can appreciate it for what it is.
I technicly also like the Bride class for it's skills and weapon selection, but I hate the Bride theme... just seems so wrong to me.

Marth related to the avatar? Avatar represents customization? Customization is a big part of Sm4sh? Robin confirmed.
In all seriousness, the amount of customization Robin has in both appearance and abilities would be perfect for this particular Smash, due to all the alternate costumes and customizable moves we've seen so far.

I just don't like the connotations that it carries. The whole "man and wife" thing, you know?

Not to get meta-sociological in the Robin thread, but a lot of young girls grow up with the idea that being married has to be the best day of their life and everything they live for. Not only does it feel like a failure when they are unable to do so, but I can say from the experiences of a lot of my friends that after all the glitter has settled, they don't understand why they were supposed to be so excited for it. I am thankful I grew up free of tradition.

I find representing the Bride class as some promotion for female characters just... well, you know, I won't go into it too much instead of dragging my feminist agenda all over the forum. Forgive me.

I feel the same way. Why isn't Ephraim a "Husband", then? Why not make him wear a dumb suit that is too frivolous to hope to manoeuvre in? Alm is represented as the class that respectfully highlights the epitome of his character, and Eirika's entire prestigious history as a warrior is relegated to being a Bride. That's awful. But the people who edthe DLC were also okay with a loli doujinshi artist handling Celica and making her a Sage so I can't say I care anymore.

Yup, versatility is inarguably one of the strongest features that Robin has going for him/her.

Back to the Bride class, it really made no sense at all to me. Out of all the possible classes you could've come up with, Bride? Really? Especially in times of war? Even the names of the skills within the class ticked me off. If the idea was meant to be a nod to the enhanced support system of FE:A, then it was a terrible one.

Honestly, if we'd get a new female-only feminine class, I'd rather have a class that's more something on the lines of "Maiden" or "Shield Maiden" to better represent a female fighting class. Bride is just stupid. I know Maiden's aren't inherently fighters, but the term Maiden would be more general and could apply to multiple things. You could have an elegant female class that's STILL badass. If there was a class called "Maiden" I'd consider it to kinda be like the "Princess" class from Geneology (without the noble title in the class name), essentially a ground Pegasus Knight.

Bride, though, is just stupid and ridiculous. :p

What's crazy to me is that there were women in the game that were referred to as "Maiden"...don't know why they couldn't just use that title for a class and just add a new look, etc to begin with

To go back to this, think of the possibilties.

if we wanted to step away from the idea as Robin as a caster, we could have all sorts of stuff. Like, for example, three variants of a B move that draw an axe, sword, and lance to use.

When you think about it, it's not outside of the realm of possibility for Robin to incorporate nearly every weapon in Awakening into his/her move set in some form or another. Since re-classing is a big part of Awakening and Robin as a unit, it would be fitting enough for Robin to pull skills and weapons from the other classes in Awakening. The possibilities are endless, really. That's partially why I think Robin would be such an ideal choice for Smash.

So you read my earlier idea for a Robin moveset and the inception worked. Good. Gooooooood.

As for a feminine class, they could've always gone the slightly overused but still awesome Valkyrie way to name it. Heck, it'd actually fit the weapon selection, too!
Then again, all the japanese people who care about that couldn't have made their S ranks actual Waifus.
Scratch that last sentence. I'd actually prefer if they didn't get that chance.

I love the idea of having Robin use any weapon and spell. That's a really cool idea. ^^

T~T I read everything in this thread. I usually try to at least drop a Like so people know I have seen their ideas. On some days, especially on days like this, I am too busy with my duties as moderator to be able to post on things. :(

It's 100% valid for Robin, just as much as a pure caster Robin is valid, or a spellsword Robin is valid. She is a very versatile fighter.

Ladle or bust.
Thanksgiving-Robin confirmed.

I think it'd be pretty cool if Robin's Down-B would have the Second Seal concept of alternating classes. Kind of like how Zelda/Sheik would transform, Robin's design would change alongside the class switch,. But of course, it has already been said that we'd be focusing on one moveset at a time this go 'round :awesome: But this is why we have customization to make our ideas/dreams come true!

Sooo.... Rather than have a fully customisable robin... you want a clunky class changing System?

I am so glad that transforming characters are gone.

Historically, I cannot think of a single fighting game where transformation or stance changing has made a positive contribution to the gameplay. Like, for example, if you look at Street Fighter's Gen, it's not really a choice so much as mandated/automated response. On the other hand, Soul Calibur's Tira is yet another case where people absolutely detest one stance and see it as a liability.

There's also a bunch of games with systems where you can momentarily power up or take some form to become stronger, but that's different. It is just effectively another resource; a card under your sleeve to pull out to use strategically, like a super bar.

Customization is fine, though.

Gods no. I was kidding, although I do love Second Seals :awesome:

Sheik and Zelda are great examples of why I wasn't a fan of transforming mid-match. Project M aside, it's common knowledge that Sheik has always been the better character, making Zelda completely irrelevant. I wouldn't want the same case for Robin, only it would be that a certain class would be favorable compared to others.

on the topic of the bride class, I don't think I ever looked at it too deeply to care too much about it. I do hate the fanservice DLC chapters with the normal characters in swimsuits and the children characters in yukatas though, talk about a waste of resources and money
