Oh look, the Smash Bros site is up.

And Ness was naked in Magicant. NoA just put him in pajamas because they can't stand his rebel ways.

Edit: So Sakurai is likening Smash Bros to a sport. I'd say that Smash Bros is easily the closest game to being a sport in the history of videogames. You know, ignoring Sports Games. With the high level of competition, especially among the pro level, and the overall.....I dunno....watchability of Smash Bros(seriously, would YOU get bored watching a high end world wide pro level Smash Bros tournament? I wouldn't.) All that's really missing is the corporate sponsorship and large amounts of cash monies.

Simna, I think he might be mocking you. You know, just in case you didn't catch it there.

Also, yeah, Sports games to me are in the same category as games based off of movies. Unless they're crazy (Anyone ever play Technos' Ice Hockey?)

Wow, I come back from a long absence and am greeted by this lovely topic that wasn't here when I left!

You guys did a great job on all this. I just wish I could've been here to contribute more.

...but looking at it again, HEY!! Some of the stuff (in the moveset) has been ripped straight from my Ness guide and I'm not in the credits! What's up with that?

Another thing: you should change that thing about Ness's Dair in the moveset. this move is actually very useful as an attack if used correctly. If initiated just before the apex of a full jump, this move can be fast-falled and will cancel out as it hits the ground without any lag, no l-cancelling required. If it hits, it's an insane combo move. If it misses, Ness has no lag. The full jump can be used to avoid an incoming attack and then counter safely. What's more, this move rocks as a meteor because it's hitbox stays out for a long time compared to many other meteors.

yeah, nessbounder, you helped lay the foundation for the ness guides.
I didn't realize that your work was put directly into this guide because, i must confess, i've never read this huge guide... heh ^_^;;

oh i see, you were in Earthbound360's credits, but at the top of the page it says "the people in Earthbound360's credits" which would naturally include you. =/

Yes, more videos for my archive! MORE MORE MORE!!!!
a friend of mine recorded a vid of my Ness. Only problem is it wasn't a real match. The other guy was using Link and the vid was so he could record the BombPie [dunno if that's the "name" for it but that's what he calls it] which is basically Link standing at the very edge with a bomb, throwing it down, and he's AUTOMATICALLY on the ledge...no real animation either, it's just "BOOM *ledge*" and I wanted to throw some YYG tricks in there. Haha, any time I have to "show" someone any sort of trick, whether it be YYG or Pikachu's quick-attack edgehog, I tend to mess up a LOT. so you'll see a whole bunch of failed Spike Jackets because I'd auto-cancel the dair a million times. And also: the Link player doesn't know anything about the YYG, he's only seen it happen a couple times but he doesn't know any of its properties

so yeah, just keep in mind it was mostly a joke match, neither of us were "trying"...mostly trying for the bombpie and the yyg...I'll let you know as soon as they're uploaded

maybe you're landing before the move can come out for you to L-Cancel it. just SHFFL it but don't start the move too late in the jump, or it won't come out and the hit box will still be on the ground...although, you can do that on PURPOSE to make someone think you got the spike jacket and you can use the deadline with the hitbox =D

I'd love to make some vids. Unfortunately, I don't have the means or time to do so, and now that King Kong is in Brisbane I have no competitive people to make the vids with. Unless you're interested in seeing me beat some computers...nah...

My guide is still here. It's stickied. How could you miss it?

Uh yeah, I think it works, but you have to actually hit someone with it or something, I forget the exactNess.

And your guide is good, but I still want videos.

Like I said, I think you have to hit someone else with it. Try it in training with 3 opponents and hit the one closest to you. I could be wrong, but I would swear I've seen it.

noooope...tried it, doesn't work. for some reason, a long time ago, I remember there being a video showing that too...but then, never saw it again, and any time I try it, in any given scenario...doesn't work.

oh I guess I should have been a little more specific. He EDGETECHED the PKFlash...meaning, I was edgeguarding him with the Flash, after he got hit, he DIed into the stage and teched in an instant...then again: it was just after I told him how to hahaha...the key to teching that move is WAITING. Usually, you tech right before you're about to get hit, but the Flash has such a monstrous hit box you have to treat it like multiple hitboxes, so you tech toward the end of the animation of being blasted.

Edit: sorry for double post

oh ok

i'm a no-di no-tech n00b TT .TT
hahaha dude naw man, it's not an easy thing to get used to doing, it takes a lot of time and a lot of reminding yourself to even TRY it, let alone when you need to. remember: don't try teching if you haven't done your UpB yet, because then you'll just airdodge X_X ...easiest thing to do is when you get edgeguarded right AT the edge [like someone standing at the edge charging a smash or Ganon/Captain Falcon trying to spike you right at the edge, etc], if you didn't tech, think to yourself "man, I could have teched that"........after a long while of that, you'll just start doing it, or you'll think about it enough to the point where you'll try and try and try...and then magically it'll work one day. so don't get discouraged if you can't do it yet. not many people can/do, and almost NO ONE does it consistently but the advanced/pros...
another thing to help you tech is that after you do your upB, let go of the control stick and then press R/L...if you want to do a tech wall jump, let go of the joystick, press R/L and up and you'll not only tech but you'll wall jump too.....don't ever regular tech with Ness unless you're good at aiming the PKT2 up walls/slopes

Mow took his guide down after people criticized him for it after he said that Ness was faster than Sheik. I remember reading it a LOOOOOONG time ago (three years mabye later?) on gamefaqs. It's not there either. I've asked him for it, but he has it on a computer far far away from him right now... Two things he mentioned (which I put in my section on the super Ness guide) are pike fireshooting/dropping involving wd'ing foward or backwards and using pk fire. I can't remember much else though.

Look at all of Mow's old posts that I put up in the super guide (as well as other people's like MOFO!!!!).

BOMBPIE VS. YYG!!!!
Please read the description. No flaming on skill level since this video has nothing to do with skill. Just shenanigans at the exhausting end of a smashfest. And man...I need to learn not to suck so much with my failed spike jackets :( I think it was Ademisk who was having trouble with em? you might be doing what I did in this vid, which was doing the dair too late in the SH...but like I mentioned earlier, when it comes to "showing people" stuff like this, I tend to mess up more :( but yeah...still funny stuff happened...and you get to see Link's Bombpie!!! [you'll see with the first edgehog]

enjoy =D
