When I say debatable in this case, I mean there's no one can say whether it's gonna be Fox/Falco/Wolf/Krystal, Fox/Falco/Wolf, or Fox/Falco/Krystal. There's too many variables.. In the sense of what character coudl be added, it's pretty static there.

Okay, I finally posted my analysis for the Zelda series. Its by far the longest series analysis I have posted yet.

A lot of people were looking forward to it, and I hope the effort I put into it has paid off.

I will get around to editting the Mario series, Toad, Ridley, and Newcomer/Veteran confirmation analyses in a few days, hopefully.

Great read as always, only thing that I'm a bit nitpicky about is when you talk about Ganondorf's most probable design for Smash 4. Considering Link is still based primarily off of Twilight Princess (with few SS references) Ganondorf keeping the Twilight Princess design is a very real possibility, I personally consider it the most likely situation actually. The reason Link is likely still based off of his Twilight Princess design could easily be because Ganondorf didn't appear in Skyward Sword, and since a Skyward Sword newcomer isn't all too likely it makes sense to keep the main cast at Twilight Princess instead of having Ganondorf fall behind.

Other than that, I agree with everything else, and it's gonna be exciting to see what happens in November with A Link Between Worlds.

Ah sweet read. As a Tingle fan, I think he has more of a chance than you say, but I agree with you on everything else pretty much.

This actually made me want Impa playable, but still not more than Beedle (Which is a loooooooooooooong shot).

EDIT: It would be interesting to see a Pokemon or New Series analysis. I would just want to add that Layton is a contender for the New Series reps as well, but that's just my two-cents.

Its because I can't see Sakurai throwing in two characters that few people wanted. He also had Toon Sheik planned as Toon Zelda's partner, not Tetra.

If he wants a simple "I want to give Zelda five slots to match it with Mario and Pokemon" (which is stupid), he will go to Toon Zelda, and call it a day. However, most people would agree that Zelda is fine as it is.

There is the possibility he may make Tetra the alterego for Toon Zelda, but its not a realistic scenario.

I for one adored Tetra as a personality and wished there would be a few levels where you even played as her or worked with her, so to see her get in would be a dream for me. Also looks like you're going to have to edit the Mario post as well. I wonder how things are changing there, what with the reveal of all four Mario characters so early in the game.

Ganondorf could very well get his Twilight look back, possibly with more color. But for some reason, I'm imagining that he'll have a "Ocarina of Time 3D' as the basis for his design.

I know some people want to see Skyward Sword Zelda. I don't, personally. For her I have a feeling she'll look like her OoT recolor TP look in brawl. I just don't want Pink Dress teenage Zelda, but I'd be fine with white dress goddess Zelda.

I have another feeling he could just go full on "creative liberty" and take influences all over, but having their signature look, like they did with Link. (Which I called.) Link isn't from any specific game, so the same might happen to Zelda and Ganondorf. Which I hope for because that means original designs!!

Edit: Question! If they decided to go with Skyward Sword Zelda, do you think they could bring back Sheik as her own separate character? I think that could be cool.

I'd like to see an analysis of Amaterasu from Okami, she could bring a cool and unique moveset. It's a shame she is just very unlikely since Okami is Capcom and other Capcom characters would have more chance.

I agree. The Fire Emblem characters in Smash Bros. follow their own pattern with popularity being their leading factor:
-Roy was included in Melee solely based on his looks, and promoted a game that released 4 months after Melee's release.
-Ike is said to be incredibly popular in Japan: got in over Miciah/Sothe from Radiant Dawn, which released long before Brawl.
-It is worth noting that Fire Emblem: Awakening was planned to be the last Fire Emblem game, giving it massive importance despite being in production at the same time as Smash Bros..

These facts should put Lucina in a better light. I do hear she is doing better than Chrom in popularity?...

EDIT: I've noticed that your analyses seem to refer as Sakurai as the sole decider of the character roster. While that is correct, wouldn't it be more accurate to say that Sakurai gathers the character suggestions from different Nintendo companies? He has mentioned this notably with the Pokemon Company. It's also evident that each franchise follows different rules, rather than all franchises as a whole following one single rule-set. That would clear a lot of confusion, especially for cross-arguments comparing newcomers and replacements from multiple franchises.

Mewtwo getting a new form and movie made him the heir apparent to the Pokemon "newcomer" slot.

This conflicted with Sakurai's warnings that the roster would not grow by a large amount and that cuts would be made. People projected that either Lucario or Pokemon Trainer would be cut. There was also talk of Jigglypuff being at risk, the reasoning for which being that her protected veteran status had outlived her novelty as a joke character in some people's eyes.

However, Lucario and Pokemon Trainer (specifically Charizard) are some of the the most popular Pokemon characters of all time, easily comparable to Mewtwo, and Jigglypuff has been in Smash Brothers long enough to garner a very committed cult following. Cutting any of them would cause as big a stink as failing to include Mewtwo, meaning there was no right answer. This caused doubt that there would be any Pokemon cuts at all.

Finally, all worries were assuaged after several official Pokemon X/Y reveals gave mega evolutions to Lucario and all the Kanto starters, as well as a new typing for Jigglypuff. With the the lot of veterans remaining both popular and relevant to current Pokemon happenings, it became increasingly hard to imagine SSB4 without Mewtwo and all of Brawl's Pokemon.

Despite all this, Chrono will probably withhold his judgement until after a possible Pokemon reveal this October, in order to avoid the remote chance of analyzing incorrectly and making a fool of himself.

Charizard is the fan favourite, but that's about all he really has going for him in this regard. A lot of people wanted to just play as Charizard and not have to be forced to switch due to the Stamina gimmick. I can relate; I'd rather play as Squirtle without being forced to change myself, but I personally can't see any of Trainer's Pokemon going solo even with fan demand.

Maybe they'll make it so you don't HAVE to switch(or don't switch upon KO) this time. Maybe.

Yes it could possibly be any of the other brawl pokemon veterans but reminder mewtwo is the most wanted veteran at this point but it does not mean it will be him confirmed tomorrow or next week

And as for the charizard coming alone thing. Yea when i first saw charizard X my head is saying maybe squirtle and ivysaur might be walking the plank i mean sakurai said it will be trickier to implent the mutiple characters.and charizard is more popular than squirtle and ivysaur

With all the fan request going into getting a majoras mask remake for the 3DS, I just see skull kid being more likely than people are giving him credit for. Pretty much every interview about link to the past 2 has some kind of majoras mask question thrown in.

Most recently finding out the mask has a cameo, and even very vague answers when asked if its being remade and statements about it being connected in someway, and playing the game to find out.

I am probably reading too much into this, but Sakurai's comment sounded like he wants to safe Pokemon playable character news for a release of some kind of Pokemon spin-off. And this leads me to wonder: when we'll hear about a new one? I'd love to check some kind of time chart regarding Pokemon releases, but right now I'm too lazy to draw one.

I find it difficult to believe that "Toon Sheik" was not going to be Tetra, but maybe I'm giving Sakurai too much credit.

Either way, if Toon Zelda gets in and still has a transformation, I can't see it being anyone but Tetra, since she has a model to be based off and there's no Toon version of Sheik.

I'm thinking maybe TP Zelda like Brawl, but I also think they might go with her blonde OoT like look like we saw in Melee.

I'm hoping Ganondorf takes the OoT appearance, he never used it in Super Smash Bros yet and now would be a good time to use it, the one in Melee was Space World Demo version of Ganondorf, which is why he had that sword in his victory taunt.

Since OoT 3d and OoT on the VC for Wii were released I'm hoping Zelda and Ganondorf take their OoT appearences, we already saw Gerudo Valley as a stage so they should have Zelda and Ganondorf in their OoT appearences.

Also for Ganondorf's new Ganon final smash I'd like to see the one from OoT, Giga Ganon ftw.
