Lol, my bad, Mewtwo can be PURCHASED on my birthday, downloadable code guys get him on the 15th. Who cares. We've still got him, Lucas, and my biggest hope for DLC is probably gonna happen. LETS DO THIS!!!

I honestly don't think they'd troll THAT much, even if it is April Fools Day. But...I've been wrong before on stuff like this...(*cough* final roster leak *cough*).

I thought someone was trying to play with my heart on this day when I heard Lucas was back in. And I'm SERIOUSLY disgraced by Ness' Lucas customs (HOW IS A MOVE MORE SITUATIONAL AND WORSE THAN PK FLASH, JUST HOW. That's saying something cause Flash is actually decent this game lol).

Then I heard the beautiful Love Theme Remix and I heard his voice again. I started crying a river because the very first newcomer I played in Brawl AND one of my favorite match-ups is finally back in. I shall have 3 mains now. I guess... LOVE IS MEANT TO BE. ;)

ALSO PLEASE BRING THE NATURAL KILLER CYBORG MUSIC IN WITH THE RETURN OF LUCAS ASDFGHJKL

[Excuse this tangent of a rant but when I see that statement, especially now I CRINGE.]

Saying Ness & Lucas are clones is like trying to call a knife and a scissor the same thing. Semi-clones is still inaccurate b/c they literally only share like 6-7 moves (U-air, F-Smash, the specials and possibly the Final Smash cause it wasn't shown here). Now, of those moves, how many of those are ONLY a Speed vs. power difference? That's U-Air, PK Flash/Freeze and F-Smash (Lucas has faster speed). The specials are similar, and some even share the same purpose, but not the same and are different enough.

Lucas' PK Fire always goes perfectly sideways and pushes the opponent away; his way of spacing. Ness' PK Fire traps and goes diagonally downward when used in midair; for a setup.

Lucas' PKT is slower, but goes through hurtboxes for the whole duration of the move, can control with less need for room he's launched faster and hits several times along with gaining more distance (and let us hope he can do the PKT2 rebound). Ness' PKT disappears after the initial frames when he hits something, requires more room to turn and gets an EXTREMELY powerful blow when he hits something, but distance gets reduced for him.

I don't know how the Magnet is gonna be this game for Lucas, b/c Ness' got improved in everyway (at least when I compare it to his Magnet custom) - Ness has less lag and more healing power. I'm taking it that Lucas' would actually KO like it could in Brawl... Don't know if they'd make the healing on his even more compared to Ness considering he heals 1.6x the damage (but with a 30% cap). o.o

And Flash/Freeze is indeed a Power/Speed difference, but the Freeze can allow some neat follow-ups with Lucas (possibly a Nair or a PKT2) while Flash just outright KOs. They're also good at eating shields away.

If you still think so, then I guess "Robin & Ness are clones cause they have magic attacks and can use Electric & Fire attacks and EL FIRE IS TOO SIMILAR TO PK FIRE".

Anyone who thinks Lucas is a Ness clone must be blind to the vast differences of their movesets, even their specials are used very differently though sharing the same names/looks.

I'm staying Ness till I play some of SSB4 Lucas, and I'll probably stay this way too, because I even preferred Ness over Lucas back in Brawl.

I also preferred Ness over Lucas in Brawl (though I always wished that he had Lucas' PK Fire back then lol), and I'll continue to main Ness in Smash 4. But I'm still very interested in trying out Lucas considering I've become much more of a Mother fan since my Brawl days. Who knows what might happen, how Lucas ends up "feeling" to me in this new engine and such, but I won't find out unless I try, right? The hardest part is gonna be waiting, really (surprised?).

Lucas seems to have a real grab game now, with PK Ground being his new dthrow, and seemingly setting up nair combos.

I will still secondary Ness, but Lucas will be my main tied with Shulk without a doubt. I think if Project M is any indication, that Lucas will be at least low high tier at the very least.

I think I just realized, from the Direct, something about Lucas' tagline. You know, "Lucas Comes Out of Nowhere!" It made perfect situational sense, but it didn't seem like it really felt, well, Lucas-y.

But then I realized that Lucas' hometown is on the Nowhere Islands.
I'm so slow.

Also, hello, Ness boards. Another Ness main here.

Hmm Lucas probadly lost most of his brawl ATs, which made him so unique and special in brawl.
Hopefully he got something back in return (or just kept those ATs)

I've gotten into a lot of arguments over this. I feel your frustration.

Also, I guess that means we're saying goodbye to 1/3rd of our Ness mains ;)
I'll still hang around here, I'll probably be maining 3 characters now... Or one will be downgraded to secondary. Probably Toon Link.

Just please tell me they improved his grab reach and the end lag if you miss the grab: I hated it in Brawl.

Lucas comes out in forever though, why must Sakurai make us wait? Even waiting 2 weeks for Mewtwo seems like a long time. :'(

Likely due to balancing as well as finalizing Lucas. It is likely that Lucas was started months after Mewtwo, but wouldn't take as long due to porting data from Brawl. I'd rather put up with the wait and have a finished product than to get it right away and it be... Well, scrap. But I still feel your pain.

WELP time to say bye to Luco get out of here D: ( I'm kidding )
Hahaha, off I go then! :p

But seriously, this is the dream come true in the best way possible for me. Expect me to be co-maining Ness and Lucas again, and already I can see Lucas looks buffed - PK Freeze looks even quicker, meaning IT MIGHT ACTUALLY BE A GOOD MOVE. Also grab lag on all tether characters has been reduced in this game so even if we don't have pivot grab, snake will likely still be at least semi-good.

As soon as he comes out we'll have to do some labbing. Considering they left Ness with PK Jump, I'm optimistic to the idea that Lucas keeps zap jump, but I'd also like to test whether rope snake might cancel landing lag (probably not but interesting anyway). From the video, wavebouncing looks like it's still a thing, which means magnet pulls will probably still be there too (HYPE), and I'd also like to see whether the Dtilt lock is still viable (you only need 2 Dtilts and Fsmash and they're dead anyway :p ). Among other things!

Anyway guys, I guess it's time to go say hello to our compatriot board. Together the PSI kids will rule the world!

So, gonna guess that Lucas with customs will have Ness'.

Hope his PK Flash is like that in video and kills like Ness' does.
Hope his PK Fire has Lucas' range on it
Not sure what I hope for on the more unique ones.

Zap jump might still be in, and wavebounce PKF might be too, but I can't see magnet pulling being in since they changed how magnets float in this game.

I just noticed that you can kind of cancel PK Fire on a ledge? Ness screams out PEEKAY FIRE too so it could be a good fakeout or something.

It can sorta work, but the timing is so tight, and you HAVE to do it out of a dash, and the sound really isn't too intimidating. It's not really worth it IMO.

Right, but if anything aren't Magnets even moreso about momentum now? I get the feeling the mechanics changes to magnet could actually help but that's really just me hoping. =P

Magnet Pulling might have worked BECAUSE magnets negated momentum though.
Hmm, I'm not so sure Magnets purely negated momentum in Brawl, considering that if you got hit and sent flying and used Magnet asap, you'd get sent quite a bit further.

Is this what you mean?

That applied to 95% of special moves, not just magnets.
I think he meant how it stopped your vertical momentum downwards.

If it means anything, it looks like dthrow combos now, tether range got longer (did you SEE that distance he grabbed the ledge from?), and nair has been changed to work more like Ness' fair now.

To be fair we did always have Dthrow --> Utilt at low percents as a true combo.

I think tether has been increased yeah, but if you recall, in Brawl he did have a rather decent range it was just that as soon as he tethered to the ledge, the rope snake pulled him in a bit.

Dthrow to utilt was an interesting looking combo Lucas had, not the best combo out there but it was aesthetically pleasing for me to perform at least.

I wonder if dthrow will still kill at higher percents...

Lucas looks impresive. So glad he's back...

Ness missed his brother from another MOTHER.
