Krystal and Palutena are secondary characters, they have about equal importance.

While I'm biased to the extreme, I call false on that.

Palutena has been with the Kid Icarus series in every installment, and in Uprising the only thing Pit has on her is being the playable main character. Her personality was developed considerably and the heart of the story is her relationship with Pit. She completes Pit in the same way Zelda and Ganondorf complete Link.

Krystal was supposed to be the main character of her own game but instead became Fox's damsel in distress in what was supposed to be her own game and later on became just an add-on to the team while Peppy sat away to be old. Her contributions to that series range from nothing to obligatory love interest for the actual main characters. If she wasn't in the series, no one would care or even notice. Heck, the most popular Star Fox games are on the SNES and N64, and many would say since then (cough, since her presence) the series declined in quality.

You can sit here and try and argue why Krystal isn't important, or you can look at the fact Falco is in Smash, and move on. (Regardless, Krystal's role as a love interest and having a strong role in two of the three games she's appeared in kind of negate anything you're trying to say. Sounds like you're just a hater)

Importance doesn't matter all that much. Also take the Krystal negativiely elsewhere because you're in the thread of SWF's Krystal king. It's just not smart.

As much as I want to agree with you, Palutena is in no way confirmed or guaranteed to be in SSB4; plus the fact that Sakurai might have used pre-Brawl popularity data to decide the game's roster might've actually harmed her chances.

I don't think so, since Falco made it in as a clone in Melee. Krystal would not work as a clone based off her appearance in Starfox Adventures. It was not until Star Fox Assault did she have appearance where she could be a plausible clone (although she does join the Starfox team at the end of SFA).

my criteria is a combination of the four as three and the fourth factor which allows him to make out of the box choices.

I don't get why you responded to my post, but... validity of that post aside, those are not Sakurai's words, and they do not sum up half of the variables put into character decision: 5 clone characters in Melee for the sake of upping roster count, Dr. Mario's music being more sought after than himself, Snake being included out of personal relations, Villager being targeted as unfitting and being announced next game, characters that don't finish development but were initially planned, and whichever Pokemon is flavor of the month is all proof of much more behind the scenes.

That's not close to the summary of the Smash Bros. development, all of that comes from Thinkaman listening to Sakurai, not Sakurai. Don't correct our summaries.
