I'm interested to see the results of this poll once more people have voted on it, since now that Smash 4 is in development and we will get occasional updates on it, more people will be joining the forums and voting.

Plus now is the time that Sakurai looks at what characters are the most popular and creates his roster around that, so this poll will be a great way to gauge current (non-Japanese) popularity.

As for adding more characters, right now I think the poll has all the usually requested characters, and it doesn't really need more. The characters that people are now asking for inclusion (Krusha, Shepard, E. Gadd) are more personal choices and have very little chance of getting in, as well as will probably only receive a couple votes.

Good poll though Shortie, I'm looking forward to seeing the collective results.

Yeah, besides DHD, and maybe Gooey, I don't think ill be adding anymore people. At this point the characters would be on the closer side of a hundred votes off of the rest of the characters. And that's extremely slighted.

I think this is the highest percentage-wise Muddy has been. 10% of voters voted for him. Pretty good for a relatively-obscure retro.

I would like to say, out of experience, the first one hundred votes usually show the most radical change, but after another two hundred or so, things start to level out to where they always have been. The top ten will likely stay the usual ten, even if the first result announcment doesn't show it.

-Mario (105), Luigi and Bowser (103), Peach (97), dropping to (55) with Waluigi then Junior (48) then Paper Mario (40) then Toad (36)
-The only clear Kirby reps desired are the ones we have (104-110), Waddle Dee is above the rest (29), but not very demanded
-Ghirahim (44) is the highest in Zelda reps (with Groose (37)behind), somewhat nearing Toon Link's (63) votes, who aren't on the same level as the other four we possess (90-106); Demise is in last place (8)
-Wario is the only desired Wario rep
-Mewtwo (81) is desired more than Lucario (51) returning and Pokemon Trainer (76), Zoroark almost has many votes as Lucario but still less (46)
-King K. Rool is wrecking **** up in the DK series, Dixie not even close (86 > 31)
-Yoshi is the only desired Yoshi rep (go figure)
-Ridley surpasses Zero Suit Samus (97 > 90), despite ZSS having a lot of votes
-Fox is the highest Starfox (111), Falco and Wolf tied and close (96 and 95), Krystal (48) bears half of their scores, Leon has less than half Krystal's (15)
-Black Shadow and Samurai Goroh are tied (43) with a bit less than half Captain Falcon's votes (115)
-Marth (110) is slightly higher than Ike (96), Roy (57) has the third highest with half Ike's, Krom a little bit behind (34)
-Claus (33)and Porky (27) are almost the same, but nowhere near Ness and Lucas (114 & 93)
-Pit (114) is clearly the highest in Kid Icarus, Palutena has roughly half as many votes (55), then Hades and Medusa are tied with roughly half Palutena's (29)
-Little Mac has the most in the smaller franchises, with Isaac right on his Heels, both bearing half the votes of ROB (82), Olimar (96), G&W (93), and Ice Climbers (93).
-Sonic (84) has the most third party votes, Snake second (69), Megaman close behind (65), then Pac-Man with a bit less (44), Geno and Bomberman around tied below that (31 and 30).

Tyranitar, Arcanine would be workable (i can imagine how weird would be playing as Pidgeot though..) However i don't even know if it's possible, since Sakurai had stated already that Anime characters cant belong to smash Universe. So Blue is the right choice since it was created on videogames.

Also a second rep from Metal Gear, I would vote for Raiden, and assuming that Snake will be back.

Also Saturos, the main antagonist from Golden Sun series. The smash roster should have more villains imo.

It's great to see Chibi-Robo get his fair share of support in the Smaller Franchises category at 16%!

It's not a HUGE amount, but it's a pretty good amount considering his low recognition!

Skull Kid, on the other hand, has a surprising number of votes, up in the likes of Groose and Ghirahim :o

Pardon my upfront attitude but it makes no sense that you're telling me you have "double votes on lock down." How do you KNOW they are double votes if they were voted on a different computer with a different IP address and a completely different Internet service provider (and possibly cookies... don't know how those things work...)

I'm now under the assumption that you're telling me you're going to go around checking who voted for "replica" votes, which means any vote that is 1:1 equal to another will be considered as a double vote... what if someone were to actually make the same vote as the next guy? What if someone were to go to the library and vote on this thing only with slight adjustments to circumvent this supposed "double vote lock down?"
(note: the last paragraph was purely hypothetical based on assumptions due to lack of information)

Let me ask again to see if I can get a legitimate response for an earnest question: how do you know if there is a double vote?

It doesn't seem too bad, I personally feel that Mario and F-Zero should lose one, the Mario series getting two more is ridiculous because of its size and F-Zero jumping from one to three is unacceptable (Kirby's franchise upgrade in Brawl is an exception of course).

Put in Paper Mario and Ghirahim with those two gone and we have a deal. Honestly didn't think of that first thing, but interestingly enough I saw two of my favorites not up and two characters that really need to GTFO.

Well... at least my Palutena is popular. <3 ^_^

Also, the lack of Dixie is definitely sad. But remember, its just popularity. Definitely doesn't mean everything.

I made this like three years ago and totally forgot about it, but apparently it's been getting votes all this time, so I figured I may as well post it here. (It's also the second result when I google "SSB4 Poll" for some reason. I guess people have been stumbling across it and linking back to it or something) Anyway, here's that poll from way back when. It doesn't have any characters on it that weren't around back in '09, but there aren't very many of those that are all that relevant anyway.

I'll keep those stages in mind when I relaunch my stage poll once the Wii U is released. I know it seems a ways off, but I think the stage poll is fine currently. Any new stages I add are going to have their results skewed because they are being listed after 150+ people have already voted. Considering my poll has pretty much stalled I think there would be little point in adding anything else at this moment. Get back with me in a couple of months, because there are going to be a lot of games to add into the next poll. Plus, it will give me a new set of data I can compare to the poll up now.
