When I think of Smash Bros., I think of Snake. Watching Ally's, and now Rolex's Snake, inspires me to play competitively. I can't wait for E3.

It's actually seeming more and more likely to me what is making you doubt?
This is the perfect time because some (very few mind you) tournament players are Snake mains so it's only natural for those people to be able to play with their main character.
That's the way I look at it at least.
I thought a lot of tournament players used him... but, idk, I'm not really into the whole "world competition" type of stuff for Smash Bros. since I'm only good against my friends XD

If Snake is returning I would be surprised if he's announced during or before E3. I'll still hold out hope that he appears even if he's not announced during that time but it'll be a small hope.

Agreed. But I feel that I'd still have hopes for him, no matter what. I'll probably go into some serious denial, like saying "He'll be DLC" or something... I guess you can call me desperate :p

I don't blame you. He was a unique character with a unique moveset, I would hate for him to be removed. It could be like Mewtwo where Lucario was the spiritual successor to Mewtwo, but I can't think of anyone who could take over Snake's moveset. Plus, I'd hate them as much as I hated Lucario at first.

Snake should come back definitely, that's how I got my friends to play the game:
(Me:Hey wanna play smash?
Friend: Not really- is that Snake?!? )
And that's the reason he plays smash now

I say Snake and Mewtwo will both be reveled at E3. Imagine a trailer like Greninja and Charzarid but with Snake and Mewtwo.

Naw, that'd be more like Snake and Pac Man. Mewtwo, imo, would be a secret character. I mean, can you imagine the blow-up of the fanbase if Mewtwo's a secret character? Seems totally like something Sakurai would do. I could also see Snake being a secret character as well.

I'm a little annoyed about how many people hate Snake purely for not being "Nintendo enough". Does it not count for something that he has a very unique and fun playstyle along with a whole lot of fans in the Smash audience? I'll be quite disappointed if Snake's cut as no other character really plays like him, it will be a bigger loss than most other characters in terms of character diversity.

If we do get him back then they'd best add the Best is Yet to Come as stage music I'm biased toward it because it's in Irish and I'm Irish.

I agree. I feel his presence in Smash is perfectly validated because he's had some major titles on Nintendo platforms, most notably the highly acclaimed Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes on Gamecube.

Fun fact: If it wasn't for Metal Gaer NES, there probably wouldn't have been a Metal Gear 2, and thus MGS wouldn't exist.

It's purely hypothetical. In retrospect, I shouldn't have said "fun fact" since it isn't really fact. But, considering at that time the MSX2 version of Metal Gear was unavailable in NA and the fact the NES version (which was out in NA) outsold the MSX2 version the sales were likely used as budget for MG2, which was the base for MGS to begin with. It's a theory, but it isn't exactly far fetched.

I doubt it has anything to do with Snake in Smash, but just a fun thing to think about.

Fun Fact: Solid Snake and Liquid Snake have incorrectly colored eyes. Green eyes are dominant over Blue eyes, so Solid (having inherited the inferior dominant genes) should have green eyes, while Liquid (who inherited the the superior recessive genes) should have blue eyes.

So changes do you want to see to Snake's explosives?

Does anyone else think Snake should have a New Final Smash didn't much like the Grenade Launcher in brawl
Here's Some of my ideas, How about a Metal Gear since he all the time destroying them.
1. Metal Gear REX

A Walking bipedal tank. I imagine it being similar to Pit's New Final Smash but it Can Walk , Shoot Missles, Fire a Laser, And can shoot a Stealth Nuke from it's Rail Gun when the Stealth Nuke is Shot it works a lot like the Smart Bomb
2. The Shagohod

A massive, nuclear-capable tank developed by the Soviet weapons specialist Nikolai Sokolov. Like Star Fox's Landmaster Shoots Missles and Lundges Forward with its Drills.

Yeah, E3 seems to be that kind of time when they'd announce Snake. If he doesn't get announced at E3, I wouldn't have any hopes of him returning.
It would be a shame too, as I would love Snake to return in SSB4.

Snake is my most wanted character for SSB4, I want him back more than I want any newcomers.

That being said, I really hope snake is announced at E3 and maybe with a new Metal Gear game on a Nintendo console.

I picture this as the music for Snake's reveal trailer (minus the "REMIX"). I see it synching in perfectly while his gameplay is demonstrated.

Also, fun fact: MGS1 and MGS2 were available on the PC too.

I'm going to take a break form SSB4 Speculation. There has been so much amazing news for this game and for me right now, it seems like more fun to revel in the hype of this game and E3. Whatever this game holds, Snake or no Snake, it's going to be awesome.

I will however leave you with one last question: Would you rather see Pac-man or Solid Snake in SSB4? There is a lot of discussion going around about Pac-man being in the next game. Personally, despite his massive role in video games as a whole, (As much as I hate to use this argument because this was used against us SO MANY TIMES) Pac-man doesn't fit into Smash. Or rather, he isn't a character that could work as a playable character in Smash due to his extreme lack of movepool (All he can do is bite).

Definitely Snake. Snake...he...just...I don't know. There's just something about him that stood out. To me, he fit into Smash perfectly. I will be very upset if Pac-Man get's in over Snake, as I've never like Pac-Man.

Now now, my friend. We won't be certain until E3. I'm sure he'll be revealed there. If not, he'd be a hidden character...and if not that...

I would definitely take Snake over Pac-Man if I had to pick, but I don't see why we couldn't have both. Pac-Man has decades of games to draw from where he could do more than bite, and I'm pretty sure that he's in the game whether we like it or not, so we should at least hope they make the most of him.

The end of Smash's E3 trailer.

You see Pac-Man chasing Mario and Luigi down a maze as he chomps on pellets. Pac-Man notices a peculiar object lying on the ground in place of one of the pellets, and stops, allowing the plumbers to get away. He bends down, picks it up, inspects it and eats it. There's an explosion inside of his stomach - he shrugs it off much like Wario before looking around, suspicious. He just shakes his head and goes back to chasing the brothers.

A few seconds later, we see a cardboard box and a pair of legs sneak after him.

I hope we get both characters, but I'd rather have snake than pacman.

I used to think that pacman wouldn't fit in because I thought he could only bite and punch, but then I went to the pac-man thread and saw that he actually has good moveset potential. You should check that thread out too.

While we're on the subject of Pac-Man, the two characters would actually complement each other nicely seeing as Metal Gear is basically just a highly evolved version of Pac-Man itself.

Every 3rd party character is revealed before launch for marketing purposes. If we don't see him at E3, he's done. I would't hold your breath.

And since we're discussing it, why does everyone want Pac Man? He hasn't been relevant since god knows when and has little history with Nintendo.
