You know it’s bad when Hulu (and by extension Disney+) has more Cartoon Network shows than the Warner Bros service.
It's not like thats a coincidence. The reason Hulu has all these CN shows is because Warner crunched the numbers and came to the conclusion that selling the streaming rights would make them more money than keeping them on HBO Max. I guarantee the Looney Tunes are going to crop up on Hulu or Netflix in a few months

People hate on Warner (and for good reason a lot of the time) but this is fine in my opinion.

Stitch looks fine, perfect, even! But Jumba and Pleakley getting nanotech human disguises instead of the ****ty disguises from the original is SUCH a downgrade. First Robbie Daymond Vergil, now this, what the hell man
Why pay for practical effects and honesty to the source material when outsource CGI does the trick? :jojo:

Tbf you can't really do non CG designs for Jumba and Pleakley but on honesty does seem to be gone. Lilo and Nani talking about "Ohana means family" is a serious scene, in the original, Stitch notices something's up and is curious as to what this is. Here, lol he hit Nani with the fridge door so funnyyyyyy. Growing up with an abnormal household meant this movie's depiction of a broken family struggling to make things work meant a lot to me

Another Gunvolt compilation is coming out with ASG3 included and also some enhancements and additional content like drama CDs that were never localized. The special edition looks pretty cool too.

Guess I'm buying Gunvolt 1 and 2 for the third time.

No Luminous Avenger iX sucks though, those games (or at least the first one) are even better than the mainline entries imo.

I'm not one to condone violence against children.

But will Lilo beat Mertle's ass?

Trust me, that's important info to know.
On one hand, as a rational adult, I don't think that scene would work in live action, especially with child actors likely not being able to hold back and make it convincing.

On the other hand that white devil needs to get ****ed up

Honestly this looks like it could be the best Disney remake.

Which isn’t the highest bar to clear. But at least this film looks “cute” instead of “absolute ass”.

With every live-action remake that comes out, I do my best to recognize that there are lots of people working on the movie that are putting their absolute best effort into it. Whether or not the movie is really all that 'necessary' doesn't matter, the films are helping the people working on them to make a living.

Yeah I have my issues with this live-action remake trend, but I don't wanna discount the genuine effort put into them. Calling them no-effort slop seems disingenuous when there's lots of people on their crew that genuinely make the movies the best they can be.

Or maybe I'm just overly empathetic.

Oh lookie. Another lifeless live-action carbon copy Disney remake.

In other words, just stick to watching the animated original.

Mark my words, Disney is gonna live-action remake every animated film they made.

Soon enough Warner Bros. will join on the train as DreamWorks had and make a live-action Iron Giant.

Following them will be Universal with The Land Before Time, The Secret of NIMH, All Dogs Go to Heaven, etc.

Live-action every animated film until none is left instead of more original films!

they saying she could either play Mary Jane (which would be oof cause Michelle Jones still exists) or Jean Grey (which…wouldn’t be the weirdest place to debut another mutant), and has a major role in the movie

I have been hearing some casting rumours that she is in line to be Jean Grey, but what if it could be between Mary Jane Watson or Angelica Jones?

Live-action Ice Age when? It's not out of the realm for Disney to do that.

Yay continue making lifeless carbon copies of animated classics.

Nah you're right, Itsuno gave us dumbass quipping boys who had a shocking amount of depth, with Dante having a realistic portratal of depression when you take the whole timeline into account
Exactly, Dante's humor is honest. He doesn't go "URM, Did I say THAT out loud." I think that's an issue with modern humor writing is that most of it is irony-poisoned now. Spider-Man's got that issue too, cause they forgot that Spider-Man is actually funny and just talks alot of ****. It's like a lot of writers are afraid of letting their characters be corny. And they have to acknowledge it, which is way cornier than just letting the jokes be jokes, y'know? I personally blame Ryan Reynolds. But I'm sure there's other people to made it popular.

Need her to do Mertle like Gohan did the Cell Jr.s.

My nerdier friends are hoping she's actually gonna be Firestar, a movie with her, Spidey and Ice Man would work pretty well
Her being Firestar makes sense. despite her being a New Warrior, X-Man, and Avenger, she started out in Spider-Man's cartoon and the comics that went along with said show. But she could be Jean since they're setting up the X-Men and probably want the mainstream ones first and foremost.

Like I said though...if this trend is making a living for the people working on the films (which are NOT just our corporate overlords, but also lots of normal people like you or me), then I'm not one to complain.

There's a lot of people who put their passion into these movies, even if it doesn't always show. I always do my best to think about them and how they feel about...well, everything.

On the other hand, it is crucial to the story; iirc CPS got on Nani's case cause of it and set up the main conflict between the two and Bubbles.

But also

I blame The Avengers (2012) and Joss Whedon humor in general.

Hate to imagine what they'll do with the live-action Hunchback of Notre Dame...

They're definitely gonna water it down for one. Probably gonna turn Quasimodo into a loser because of being couped up in the bell tower all his life...

Disney doesn't have the balls as they once did back in the 90s to get away with what the animated film got away with.

But also
CPS when the colonizer's spawn mocks the neurodivergent native for having dead parents (Myrtle will get ice cream while Nani is clinging to her sister for dear life)

Also Bubbles was set up because Lilo was a VERY troubled child with Nani struggling to take care of her, what we see at Hula class is simply one case out of what Bubbles implies is many

I doubt they'll do that. Although it kinda depends on your definition of 'loser'.

Regardless of what they end up beefing in the remake, I think they'll at least keep Quasimodo's characterization as a sweet, tender and selfless guy intact.

Live-action Shrek is inevitable.
We have that already, it’s called Shrek the Musical

The Shrek Musical legitimately does the same format as most Disney live action remakes where many scenes lifted from the movie goes through the motions of the original narrative without any of the thought or nuance behind why those scenes were there to begin with. (Not to mention the entire concept of the Shrek musical goes against the movie’s identity to begin with)

Yeah, Shrek the Musical kinda sucks. I watched the whole thing on Netflix a few years ago and it’s just not particularly good.

HOWEVER

I will say that “Who I’d Be” is a very pretty song.

I can agree with that, though I feel like it’d hit stronger if Shrek actually didn’t sing up until that point in the musical for the reasons Schaffrillas said in his video about it

Plus I'd definitely not say Disney has lost all of its...cajones let's say.

In my territory they distribute Miraculous Ladybug, and that show gets DARK later on. Some of the moments in Seasons 3, 4 and 5 made me GASP. And the London special could often get PARTICULARLY brutal.

I dunno how much of that dark tone comes from France being France (as Noi once said, French cartoons are built different...this country DID bring us Kaeleoo and Bunny Maloney after all) but all I know is Miraculous Ladybug is peak fiction please watch it (or don't, I'm not your boss)

Yeah, he's clearly doing it just to bait at this point. You give the guy some legit criticism and he'll completely ignore it and continue ranting.
I don't wanna count out the possibility that he'll improve at this. That's why I do my best to be patient with him. The guy's clearly passionate.

But he sure seems to enjoy repeating jokes like "oh they're gonna remake Shrek"...

Not that I should be judging on that.

The joke that's been famous throughout the entire franchise of virtually every human falling for said ****ty disguises is lost because of this change.

I guess they're going for a more realistic approach...As realistic as an approach can be with a unique genetic and biological creation like Stich. I guess the argument can be made that this means they're at least trying to take the film and it's source material seriously )unlike the creators behind a certain Minecraft film) since they're not trying to make a joke out of it, but since the film is still a comedy drama I feel like the joke could still work perfectly fine.

Also, smaller nitpick but I really wish they just got back all of the original VAs for the CGI aliens.

Your D6 and Disventure Camp posts are totally harmless and at least come from a place of pure positivity, though. I don't mind it at all when people gush about the things they enjoy.

Mike just regurgitates the same rants every couple of days about how far movies have fallen off and it's gotten really old.

If he wants less 'sequel-y' 'remake-y' films in the future, I'd suggest that Micheal starts supporting the films of A24. They're an independent company that both distributes and produces some of the best independent cinema you see these days. Everything Everywhere All At Once? That was them. They've gotten a lot of attention for their original filmography and you're likely to find SOMETHING you resonate with.
