Started my Sonic marathon. I'm playing a bunch of Sonic games, including both games I've played and ones I haven't.
Starting with the very first game, Sonic the Hedgehog, a game I have finished before. I'm currently on Labyrinth Zone and I lowkey want to kill someone, oh my god I forgot how bad this game can be after Green Hill.
- Marble Zone is irredeemable garbage. It is such a *ing whiplash to go into this Bowser's Castle ahh level that feels like it wants you to do anything but go fast, who the * thought this was a good second level
- Spring Yard Zone is better because it actually lets you go fast for extended periods of time but it still has those annoyingly slow platforming sections that I distinctly remember singling out when I first played this game as an example of how confused the vision for this game feels. It's almost good but it has just enough bull**** including a garbage boss fight that it's enough to leave me with a bad taste in my mouth
- Labyrinth, if the fact that it's a water level wasn't enough, feels like it wants to ** with you. There's multiple placements of objects in this game that lead you directly into your doom, including springs that lead you to a platform/spike instakill collision. What the ** is this Kaizo Mario ** doing in a Sonic game. Somehow I managed to make it into the Eggman chase but then I ran out of oxygen and gave the ** up (I'll pick it back up tomorrow)
Maybe IGN were right, Sonic was never good
