What I was referring to was the complexity. As the series goes on, it’s no longer “auto attack until your arts are ready.” In part 2 you get Pokemon. In part 3 you DBZ fusion dance. In part X you get Gundams. All are more complicated than part 1.

I'm so sick and tired of this trend turning childhood favorite into these slasher villains.

Winnie the Pooh, Popeye, Steamboat Willie, etc.

Not because it "destroys" your childhood but it's just lazy, uncreative and unoriginal when you can do more creativity with these characters in the public domain.

Hate to imagine 50 years from now... Horror slashers on Super Mario Bros., Sonic the Hedgehog, Spongebob. God imagine what they'd do with Pokémon...

Donkey Kong horror movie...Dear God the horror...

But civilization probably won't be around by then...Hopefully I'll be dead by then.

I like how, despite it's angry face, it's canonically super happy about it's new wings.

One thing I really dig is how Pinsir's new flying type as a Mega acts as a counterpart to Heracross, a Fighting type. The two are often seen as counterparts and the typings keep that whole thing going.

I wouldn't call Public Domain a mistake just because some people are uncreative with the idea. You could do something with Popeye right now if you wanted to or if something calls to you. I feel like the reason why it happens often is because a lot creative people make their own stuff rather than using established stuff. But it isn't an inherently bad idea.
