That exact moment when you realize Troll (2022) is a blend of Godzilla (1954) and GODZILLA (1998) but set in Norway with a troll.
Godzilla (1954):
-Titular monsters are ancient creatures awakened as a result of human actions (Godzilla being awakened by nuclear testing, troll awakened by construction)
-Has the whole politics being involved in how said creature should be handled.
-Titular monsters goes on a rampage throughout the country (Japan for Godzilla, Norway for the troll) before setting landfall on their capital cities. Tokyo for 1954 Godzilla, Oslo for the troll.
-Both films have an environmental ethos to them. Godzilla (1954) is remembered as a manifestation of nuclear warfare, a beast that destroys the world after being awakened by human hands. Troll, however, updates the message to reflect modern concerns that human greed will become our collective doom as we destroy nature and seek control over a world that might become too eroded to sustain human life.
GODZILLA (1998):
-Leads are paleontologists recruited by their particular governments.
-Footprints being discovered.
-Titular monsters motivations involves around members of their kind, Zilla 98 is hoping to continue its species by reproducing, the troll is heading to Oslo to reunite with its kind as that's where they had lived prior to Christians settling.
-Movie ends with another of their kind having survived.
